Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 66: Insatiable Greed
Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Insatiable Greed
Besides that, there was also...
"You have received a gift from survivor [RookSolosGruel]: Mineral Water x2! What a luxurious gift. Go thank them now!"
They had expressed their gratitude and sent her two bottles of mineral water.
Seraphina Sinclair was taken aback. This wasn’t what she’d expected at all, but it warmed her heart.
Pretty nice.
She shook her head and checked the other supplies she had traded for.
The Complete Tool Box wasn’t a special item. True to its name, it was a large iron box filled with all sorts of tools—hammers, axes, pickaxes, you name it!
Although it didn’t seem very useful right now, Seraphina Sinclair had a feeling it would be indispensable in the future, so she had decided to trade for it the moment she saw it.
As for the Team Certificate...
’This has to be an important item.’
[Team Certificate]
[Description: Special Item, No Grade. A faintly glowing Sheepskin Scroll with complex contract runes drawn in dark red ink. The holder can use this certificate to create an official team with a maximum of 5 members. Team members gain access to a shared warehouse (one cubic meter), with no limit on the number of uses per member! Binds on use, non-refundable. All survivors can only join one team. Please choose carefully!]
’Create a team, get a one-cubic-meter warehouse...’
’To put it bluntly... this warehouse isn’t even as big as my own storage space, and five people have to share it.’
’Besides, while unlimited access for members sounds like a good thing, it’s definitely a bad one. It means any member could run off with everything in the warehouse at any time!’
’Yes, just up and leave with all the assets!’
The risk was practically laid bare. With such an obvious drawback, Seraphina Sinclair couldn’t find a single advantage.
It didn’t even make it easier for members to help each other.
’So, what’s this thing even good for?’
Seraphina Sinclair shook her head. She hadn’t figured out the answer to that question, but she believed someone would definitely need this.
Because banding together was a human instinct. And... not everyone had a Space Ear Ring like Seraphina Sinclair.
’This thing should still be pretty sought-after.’
Seraphina Sinclair flicked the sheepskin scroll in her hand, then stuffed it into her Silver Moon Earrings. She was too busy today; she’d find time to resell it later.
Finally, there was the repair package. It was also a single-use item, but it wasn’t the same as the one Seraphina Sinclair had acquired before.
The last one was E-level and could only repair E-level items. To fix a D-level item, you’d need several of them.
But these three were all D-level!
Seraphina Sinclair had never seen a D-level item before—not counting the Silver Moon Earrings, which were equipment. She hadn’t even seen a D-level Supply Box, so naturally, she was very curious about where these came from.
But the first person she contacted was already making an outrageous demand.
[DontLookAtMe]: Boss, you’ve probably still got fish, right? Can I have one?
Seraphina Sinclair clicked her tongue in annoyance and moved on to the next person.
[Spicy Steeledge]: You wanna know, Boss? Let’s make a trade! I want food, or drinks, whatever. The food in this godforsaken place is terrible. My mouth is completely tasteless; I just want something with a kick.
Seraphina Sinclair thought for a moment and offered the high price of a can of coke. The other party was actually somewhat reluctant and countered by asking for six cans to make it a full pack.
’A full pack?’
’Is that something you can just round up to a full pack?’
Seraphina Sinclair fell silent. She looked at the two chat windows, thought for a moment, and decided not to get hung up on these two. She moved on to the last person.
[Serious Kitten]: This item? Boss, I came across it by pure chance. Even if I told you how, you definitely wouldn’t be able to replicate the circumstances. Are you sure you want to trade for this information?
’This one is so sincere!’
Seraphina Sinclair asked directly, "Yes. What do you need?"
Their reply took her by surprise.
[Serious Kitten]: What I need most is definitely food. I saw your instant noodles in the regional channel, Boss. Since this is a trade, I won’t be polite. Six packs of instant noodles for this information, how about it?
Seraphina Sinclair: "..."
’Now *this* is an outrageous demand!’
’What do you call the last guy, then?’
’That last one was just a bit unreasonable. This one is just plain dreaming!’
’And who tries to dissuade you first, only to then make an outrageous demand? Do they think I don’t care, that I’m so desperate to trade that I’ll accept any price they name?’
’That’s going too far.’
Seraphina Sinclair took a deep breath. Each one of these three was greedier than the last, but the information was very important to her.
’What should I do?’
She stared at the three chat windows in silence for a moment, then inspiration struck. She pitted them against each other, sending each of them a message: "I only have one can of coke left. I can only trade with one of you, first come, first served."
As expected, the trick worked.
Spicy Steeledge was the first to cave.
[Spicy Steeledge]: Send the trade contract, Boss.
The other two followed suit. Seraphina Sinclair didn’t rush to reply. A moment later, she opened one of their private chat windows.
[Blacktiger Ford]: You’re too late. However, I feel like the information I got from the other guy wasn’t entirely complete. The coke isn’t completely gone... there’s just a third of a can left—110ml. Still a decent amount. If you think it’s a fair trade, you can supplement the info I got. If not, no big deal, I’ll just drink the rest myself.
She sent this message to all three of them, one after another.
Spicy Steeledge was initially reluctant, but the thought that his hesitation had already cost him two-thirds of a can of coke spurred him on. Besides, this was a trade for information. He figured that as long as he added a clause that Blacktiger Ford couldn’t share the information further, it was still worth it.
’It’s like finding free coke on the side of the road!’
’Can’t get any greedier!’
’If I get any greedier, I might lose out on this last third, too.’
The other two were thinking the same thing.
The three of them, though extremely reluctant, agreed to Blacktiger Ford’s deal.
’As for how to divide one can of coke into three portions, that was a problem for the system to figure out.’
Seraphina Sinclair smoothly obtained three pieces of information regarding the D-level Repair Package.
[DontLookAtMe]: Boss, actually, I’m not too clear on what happened. I was just shining a sunlamp on the Sunflower, and then I suddenly heard a knock on the door. I was really scared. I squatted on the floor and didn’t dare to move until the sound stopped. I heard it in the morning, but I didn’t dare open the door until the afternoon. There were no monsters outside, just that repair package sitting there. I didn’t have anything to repair, so I just decided to trade it with you.
The other two told a similar story.
But one of the three was bolder.
[Serious Kitten]: I yanked the door open immediately. Outside was a really big black shadow! Boss, you know that classic ghost image, right? The one with a white sheet over its head? It looked just like that, but with a black sheet.
