Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Immunity Crystal

’This is pure torture for anyone faint of heart!’

Seraphina Sinclair opened the regional channel and found that others were in the same situation. The channel was now filled with wails of despair.

"Help!!! There’s a rotting corpse banging against the wall outside my window! What the hell is this thing!?"

"Fuck, fuck, fuck! It’s pressing its face against my window! Those moldy patches on its body are dripping pus!! So terrifying!!! So disgusting!!!" ℴ

"System, go fuck your ancestors! The newbie protection just ended and you pull this shit?"

"Does anyone have any gasoline? This thing seems to be afraid of fire? I hit it with a homemade Molotov cocktail, and it actually took two steps back!"

"Don’t panic, everyone! Calm down! This thing doesn’t seem to attack on its own. It’s not even eight o’clock yet, nobody’s actually moved, and the black fog hasn’t poured in. The most urgent thing is to figure out where this thing came from!"

"What are you all talking about? What rotting corpse? Isn’t it just a little robot? This little thing is so short, hahaha, it doesn’t even reach my knees. It looks completely harmless! How cute is that?"

"I got the little robot too. It’s outside banging on my wall. I’m speechless... Can’t this thing just use the door?"

"It must be because of the different path choices... Are these the ’path-specific monsters’ the system mentioned?"

Yes.

These must be the path-specific monsters.

"Can your Insight still see weaknesses? Why do I only have question marks?"

"I’ve only got question marks too... Don’t tell me we won’t be able to see weaknesses anymore?"

"Holy shit, was that a perk of the newbie protection? That’s really going too far!"

’So it was gone for everyone.’

Seraphina Sinclair frowned, her mood souring.

She glanced at the monster outside the window. Whether it would attack on its own or not, Seraphina Sinclair was going to strike first!

’This thing outside my window is going to be a pain.’

Seraphina Sinclair needed to open the window to collect water. She wasn’t about to give up the chance to collect rainwater just because of one monster.

Before, she might not have had the confidence, but now, her attribute points were all upgraded!

’Besides, didn’t someone say it was afraid of fire?’

Seraphina Sinclair quietly opened the window, and a cold wind carrying a rotten stench poured into the room.

She narrowed her eyes, using the faint morning light to get a clear look at the monster outside. It was a highly decomposed corpse, its grayish-green skin covered in mold spots. Viscous black entrails hung between its exposed ribs.

’Afraid of fire, are we...’

Seraphina Sinclair sneered, a Fire Drawing Rune already pinched between her fingertips.

The monster suddenly stopped following the drifting fog. Its rotten head twisted 180 degrees, its empty eye sockets locking onto the window, meeting Seraphina Sinclair’s gaze perfectly.

Seraphina Sinclair could even see the maggots squirming on its gums.

’The sight was honestly a bit horrifying, but...’

’I don’t care what you are, eat one of my rune papers first!’

"Hhh... hhh..."

A sticky gasp squeezed from the monster’s throat.

’Now’s my chance!’

Seraphina Sinclair suddenly tore the rune paper. "Burn!"

A crimson flame, like a vicious serpent, shot out from the rune the instant it was torn, sinking its fangs precisely into the monster’s head.

The fire immediately engulfed its rotting flesh, which sizzled in the intense heat. The monster thrashed wildly but couldn’t escape the flame’s embrace.

Seizing the opportunity, Seraphina Sinclair threw the window wide open and stabbed the creature with her dagger!

The dagger strike sent black goo flying everywhere, but due to her line of sight, Seraphina Sinclair couldn’t see where it all landed.

Amidst the spray of black blood, the monster’s mangled remains suddenly convulsed violently.

Seraphina Sinclair frowned, suddenly noticing that the scattered black goo was re-gathering, coalescing in mid-air to form a new body!

Huh?

Ah?

’It can actually reform?!’

"There’s no end to you, is there?"

Seraphina Sinclair spat, flicking out two Fire Drawing Runes at once. She wasn’t trying to conserve runes; she just wanted to burn the monster to a crisp this time!

The roaring flames formed a circle, trapping the reforming monster in the center. The stench of burnt flesh filled the air. The goo finally stopped squirming in the intense heat, melting into a pool of boiling black liquid.

Seraphina Sinclair even craned her neck to check, only satisfied when she confirmed that not even a drop of goo remained.

[You have slain "Memory Eater (E-level)" x1]

[You have slain the special monster for this path choice! You have obtained Immunity Crystal x1]

A small green Crystal Stone appeared in front of Seraphina Sinclair. It lay quietly on the floor, looking no different from a Black Fog Crystal or a Sunshine Crystal, aside from its color.

Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow and used Insight on the object.

’Insight wasn’t very useful against monsters anymore, but it was still great for examining items.’

[Immunity Crystal]

[Description: A short-term special item! Obtained by killing specific monsters. Upon use, grants a corresponding immunity for a set duration!]

[This crystal grants immunity to the negative effect: The Misty Path]

[Immunity Duration: 72 hours.]

’So it’s an item that grants immunity to negative effects...’

Seraphina Sinclair blinked. After a moment of thought, she posted the information directly to the regional channel with a brief explanation:

[Blacktiger Ford]: After killing a path-specific monster, it drops an Immunity Crystal. Using it grants 72 hours of immunity to the corresponding path’s negative effect. The monster for The Misty Path is that rotting corpse outside the window, and the Rust Corridor one is probably the little robot you guys were talking about. (Attachment: Detailed description of the Immunity Crystal).

’As the top-ranked player, it was necessary for her to occasionally release key information to solidify her position.’

’And this kind of information—which didn’t compromise any of her advantages but would build her prestige when shared—was the perfect material for maintaining her top-player persona.’

The effect was immediate.

"??? Wait, expert, are you saying you already killed that monster? I remember it was E-level, right?"

"That scared me so much I immediately got up and used Insight again. I wasn’t mistaken! I really wasn’t! It really is an E-level monster! The expert just killed it like that? And then just casually posted the info? I’m seriously impressed..."

"I guess that’s the real deal for the server’s number one..."

"Expert, how’d you kill it? We need a detailed guide!"

"The guy above is being a freeloader, aren’t you? It’s already great that the expert was willing to share the drop info. You actually want to know how she killed it too? We can’t see weaknesses anymore, that’s crucial information now!"

"@Blacktiger Ford, expert, are you selling the monster’s weakness?"

’Selling the monster’s weakness?’

Seraphina Sinclair glanced at the ash stuck to the windowsill. She wasn’t actually sure if the monster was afraid of fire or not.

’She had used a rune. Back then, the Six-Armed Corruptor didn’t have ’afraid of fire’ as one of its weaknesses, but didn’t it get burned to ash all the same?’

’But that was because her rune papers were just too powerful. Even if she told these people the method directly, they wouldn’t be able to replicate it.’

’Maybe I should just sell the runes instead?’
