Chapter 425: Chapter 424: 001 Visits Again
Seraphina Sinclair took a few sheets of paper from her Silver Moon Earrings and placed them on the stone table.
These were all the useful formulas she had copied from the Eye of Identification; every last one was here.
Compiling all this information had taken Seraphina Sinclair a considerable amount of time, so she treasured these pages dearly.
Seraphina Sinclair sorted through the pages, searching for the formula for Ebony Rune Parchment.
’The other items are nice, but the Ebony Rune Parchment is definitely the most useful one for me!’
’With this kind of rune paper, I might be able to create C-level Talismans directly. When that happens...’
The mere thought of it sent waves of joy surging through Seraphina Sinclair’s heart, but her face remained impassive, making it look as though she was still diligently searching for the formula.
Little Mushroom was overcome with curiosity. It moved closer, but the stone table was too high, so it had to stand on its tiptoes to see.
After watching for a moment, Little Mushroom looked up, its eyes shining. "Ma’am, did you figure all of these out yourself?"
’Of course not.’
’It was just the Eye of Identification.’
However, there was no need to explain these details to the craftsman, so Seraphina Sinclair gave a shameless nod.
Little Mushroom’s eyes instantly grew even brighter.
"That’s incredible!" its voice rose in pitch. "No formulas, no guidance, figuring it all out on your own... Ma’am! You’re an absolute genius!"
Seraphina Sinclair felt a bit unsettled by the praise. Thankfully, she had finally found the formula for the Ebony Rune Parchment.
She handed the slip of paper over. "Can you make it?"
Little Mushroom looked down at it for another moment, then nodded emphatically.
"Yes! Although the specific steps aren’t written very clearly, I can try!" It paused, then added, "It might take some time, and it will probably require some materials..."
"I’ll provide the materials," Seraphina Sinclair said. "How long will it take?"
Little Mushroom thought for a moment, then held up three fingers.
"Three days?"
A flicker of joy lit up Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes. She was just about to promise Little Mushroom a reward when she heard it say:
"Thirty days."
Seraphina Sinclair: "..."
"Thirty days?" Her voice had a distinct chill to it.
Little Mushroom shuddered and hurriedly explained, "Ma’am, developing a formula isn’t the same as crafting an item! Crafting is fast when you have a detailed formula. But development is creating something from nothing! Thirty days is the absolute fastest I can do it!"
Seraphina Sinclair was silent for two seconds.
’Thirty days.’
’An entire month.’
’She had only been in this world for about a month, and now developing a single formula would take another one.’
As Seraphina Sinclair thought about it, her heart grew cold.
She glanced in Luna Jacobs’s direction; it would take her a few days to improve the blueprints. ’I used to think Luna was being slow, but by comparison, her efficiency is absurdly high!’
Still, creating the Ebony Rune Parchment was the only way Seraphina Sinclair currently knew of to make C-level Talismans.
"Fine," she said. "Thirty days. If you can’t produce it by then—"
She didn’t finish her sentence, but Little Mushroom already felt the chill in her unspoken words.
It nodded repeatedly. "I can do it! I’ll definitely get it done! Ma’am! Trust me, I’m the best craftsman for miles around! If I can’t do it, then you won’t have any luck with another craftsman either!"
Seraphina Sinclair said nothing more and simply handed the rest of the formulas to it.
Little Mushroom accepted them with both hands. After looking over the formulas intently, it was so excited it spun around twice on the spot. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, it stopped and asked cautiously, "So... what about the materials?"
Seraphina Sinclair said nothing, simply starting to pull things out of her Silver Moon Earrings.
One set of materials.
Two sets.
Three sets.
...
Little Mushroom’s eyes grew wider and wider as it watched the materials pile up into a small mountain before it.
’As expected of a chosen being, so generous!’
’This wasn’t Little Mushroom’s first time developing a formula for another being. Most of them would either hem and haw, taking forever to provide a single clue, or be incredibly stingy, providing only one set of materials and nothing more.’
’A client like this ma’am was the best of the best—the client of its dreams!’
But, out of an abundance of caution, Little Mushroom still asked, "M-Ma’am... Is all this... for me?"
It was so nervous it even stuttered.
Seraphina Sinclair nodded.
"You can return whatever you don’t use."
Little Mushroom froze for a second, then nodded vigorously. "Right, right! I’ll be sure to use them sparingly!"
It crouched down and began to sift through the materials, examining them one by one, apparently checking to see if anything was still missing.
Seraphina Sinclair stood to the side and watched, not rushing it.
After a good while, Little Mushroom finally looked up, its eyes shining brightly.
"Ma’am, these materials are incredible!" Its voice was filled with obvious excitement. "They’re so much better than I imagined! With these, as long as I can figure out the production process, I’ll definitely be able to create the Ebony Rune Parchment!"
"Good," Seraphina Sinclair replied coolly.
Little Mushroom carefully packed the materials into its backpack.
Only then did Seraphina Sinclair notice the small, inconspicuous backpack it carried. It seemed to be a bottomless pit; after stuffing the entire pile of materials inside, the pack still looked flat.
Once it finished packing the materials, it looked back at Seraphina Sinclair and gave her a bow.
"Thank you, Ma’am! I’ll be heading back now!"
It turned and ran a few steps toward the Lightgate, then stopped and looked back at Seraphina Sinclair.
"Ma’am, expect good news!"
As its voice faded, it dove into the Lightgate and vanished.
The waiter also bowed to Seraphina Sinclair before carrying the cleared tray and following it through.
The Lightgate dissipated.
The moving cabin fell quiet once more. Before Seraphina Sinclair could even sit down, another Lightgate materialized.
Seraphina Sinclair paused, thinking the waiter or Little Mushroom had left something behind. Just as she was about to speak, she saw a fluffy head poke out from within.
It wasn’t the waiter, nor was it Little Mushroom who had just left. It was a familiar little girl—Traveling Merchant 001.
Seraphina Sinclair had thought she would never show up again, considering how unpleasantly their last encounter had ended.
But she hadn’t expected this. Not only had the girl come to her door, but she had emerged from a Lightgate.
Before 001’s body had fully emerged from the Lightgate, her gaze swept over the familiar layout of the moving cabin and locked directly with Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes. She flinched, immediately trying to shrink back and retreat.
Seraphina Sinclair was incredibly fast. Her hand shot through the Lightgate, grabbing 001’s cloak in a tight grip.
’This is my moving cabin. Since when did it become a place this girl can just come and go as she pleases?!’
001’s body froze stiff.
She remained motionless, half her body still inside the Lightgate.
Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes were fixed on her, and she clearly had no intention of letting go.
The air was frighteningly still.
After several seconds, 001 slowly turned her head to look at Seraphina Sinclair.
Her large, clear eyes were filled with a complex mix of emotions that screamed, ’I didn’t mean to come,’ ’I’ll leave right now,’ and ’Can you please let go?’
