Chapter 363 - 362: Reversal
Chapter 363: Chapter 362: Reversal
"Die!"
Shatterer let out a beast-like roar. The red light enveloping him suddenly contracted inward, then instantly poured into his Battle Axe!
The heavy Double-bladed Battleaxe now seemed to transform into molten lava. Its blades glowed scarlet like a branding iron, the high temperature it radiated distorting the air as a terrifying wave of destruction spread wildly.
He had abandoned all defense, compressing all of his Strength—and the frenzied enhancement brought by the "Grace"—into this final strike!
Before the axe even fell, the ground beneath Seraphina Sinclair’s feet began to crack. The formless pressure made her bones creak.
This was a killing blow, Shatterer’s final dance where he gambled everything.
There was no escape!
The rapidly enlarging scarlet axe was reflected in Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes, yet her heartbeat strangely calmed at this moment.
’Extreme danger is often accompanied by an extreme opening. When an enemy bets everything on a single blow, they are inevitably at their most vulnerable.’
Leviathan’s Guardian could only be used once a day, and the Rule Protection from Moon Protection had already been spent.
But she had other things.
Just as the scarlet Battle Axe was about to strike, a D-level rune—the Moonlight Heart Protection Talisman—silently slid between the fingers of Seraphina Sinclair’s left hand!
’One might not be enough, but that’s fine...’
Seraphina Sinclair cherished her life; her standard reserve for every type of rune was a full ten sheets.
’One might not block Shatterer’s attack, but what about two? Three? Or even a full ten?’
The rune dissolved into motes of light in her hand. A cool, clear Moonlight instantly unfolded from her position, forming a translucent silver barrier.
The remaining runes followed suit, dissolving one after another to form silver shields in front of Seraphina Sinclair.
Almost at the same instant the silver shields formed, Shatterer’s scarlet Battle Axe came crashing down!
BOOM!!!
An indescribable crash exploded within the arena, like two mountains colliding!
Scarlet and blue energy clashed violently, exploding in ring after ring of shockwaves.
CRACK!
The first layer of the Moonlight Heart Protection Talisman’s barrier was instantly covered in spiderweb-like cracks upon contact. It held for less than half a second before shattering with a bang, turning into a rain of silver fragments.
Then came the second layer, the third...
The scarlet Battle Axe tore through them like a hot knife through butter, crushing the rising Moonlight barriers with absolutely frenzied strength.
Seeing the Battle Axe about to break through all her defenses, Seraphina Sinclair remained completely unfazed.
Shatterer had put forth all his strength, but he was fighting the shields summoned by Seraphina Sinclair’s runes. As for Seraphina herself...
Her gaze was locked on Shatterer, waiting for the perfect moment to counter-attack!
The Moonlight Power converted from the runes clashed fiercely with the energy on Shatterer’s great axe. Piercing explosions and turbulent energy filled the entire space. The arena floor was plowed with deep trenches, and rubble was instantly pulverized by the churning aftershocks.
The fourth layer, the fifth... It broke through them with unstoppable momentum!
A crimson fury burned in Shatterer’s eyes, and scorching breath carrying sparks escaped his lips. But the downward speed of his Battle Axe was ultimately slowed by the layers of incredibly resilient Moonlight barriers.
The momentum that seemed capable of incinerating everything showed a minuscule, yet potentially fatal, stagnation.
The sixth barrier shattered. The seventh and eighth fell in quick succession!
And this was the moment Seraphina Sinclair had been waiting for!
Shatterer’s strength had been worn down layer by layer. His momentum was fading, and he had yet to gather new strength. She, on the other hand, had been lying in wait. The advantage was naturally hers.
The ninth Moonlight barrier exploded with a whine under the scarlet axe blade! Shards of energy scattered like shattered crystal.
Only the last layer remained. The silver light, as thin as a cicada’s wing, trembled faintly, looking as if it would be completely annihilated in the next moment.
The savage grin on Shatterer’s face nearly split his face to his ears. He could feel the presence of the woman beneath his axe blade, just inches away!
Victory and destruction were separated by a razor’s edge!
But just then, behind the barrier, Seraphina Sinclair moved.
She didn’t try to retreat or block. Instead, under the overlapping cover of shattered Moonlight and the scarlet axe’s shadow, she took a step forward, meeting the destructive blade head-on.
The Water Dragon Roar in her right hand erupted. The azure Water Dragon Pattern on its blade suddenly flared with an unprecedentedly brilliant light, as if a dormant dragon soul had fully awakened.
Around the blade, the air distorted violently. Countless fine water droplets condensed from nothing, only to be instantly drawn by an unseen force, forming a turbulent, swirling, pale-blue torrent that coiled around the blade, emitting a low, pleasant draconic, watery roar.
This wasn’t a Skill. Even Seraphina Sinclair didn’t know why Water Dragon Roar was producing such a phenomenon.
But she knew what she had to do now... run Shatterer through!
The momentum of Shatterer’s all-out strike, after breaking through eight successive Moonlight barriers, finally showed a moment of exhaustion and delay.
The burning scarlet light on the axe blade had also dimmed slightly.
A sharp glint flashed in Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes as she poured all her Strength into her arms.
Without dodging or evading, she swung Water Dragon Roar upward in a reverse slash!
The blade’s light didn’t strike the axe head-on. Seraphina Sinclair knew that would be pitting her weakness against the enemy’s strength.
She was a master of Blade Skill; she naturally knew the best way to apply her force.
The azure blade light carved an exquisite arc, sliding along the flat of the heavy Battle Axe. Its target: Shatterer’s wrists, which were exposed as he gripped the axe for his all-out downward chop!
’This move... is called forcing a defense!’
A trace of astonishment flashed through Shatterer’s murky red eyes. He hadn’t expected that, in such a desperate situation, she would dare to advance instead of retreat and unleash such a ridiculously risky counter-attack.
He wanted to change his move, but the strength he had gambled on one throw was spent, and the axe’s momentum was too heavy to retract.
SCHLICK!
A soft sound, completely different from the clang of striking his stone-like skin before. The tip of Water Dragon Roar, like a hot knife through butter, sliced precisely into Shatterer’s wrist.
The azure Blade Aura surged violently through the opening!
"Urgh!"
Shatterer let out a roar mixed with pain and fury.
The scarlet Battle Axe, which had been pressing forward with the intent to cleave everything in two, suddenly lost most of its power. Its downward trajectory inevitably skewed.
BOOM!!!
In the end, the scarlet axe blade grazed the outside of Seraphina Sinclair’s left shoulder and slammed violently into the ground.
The sturdy arena floor was split open like tofu, creating a hideous fissure several meters long. A searing heatwave carrying shrapnel shot out to both sides. A few sharp fragments grazed Seraphina Sinclair’s cheek and arm, drawing several bloody lines.
But she paid it no mind.
Because she had broken Shatterer’s ultimate, all-or-nothing strike!
Shatterer’s hands trembled, barely able to hold his Battle Axe. Dark red blood seeped from his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. The backlash from his Grace and the severe injury to his wrist erupted simultaneously, causing his massive, statue-like body to shake violently. His aura instantly withered, and the red light around him flickered like a candle in the wind.
The scales of victory had, at this moment, completely tipped!
Seraphina Sinclair wasn’t going to give him any chance to catch his breath.
A searing pain came from the wound on her shoulder, but if it was a competition of who was in more agony, Shatterer was definitely winning.
