Chapter 361: Chapter 360: Like a Divine Weapon

Standing across from him was a woman.

That was Shatterer’s first impression of Blacktiger Ford. His second was the long blade in her hand—a weapon that looked like a Divine Weapon.

He rubbed his eyes in disbelief, but when he looked again, the long blade—and the Water Dragon—were still there!

It wasn’t an illusion.

The weapon was real!

’A weapon like this actually exists in this world? A weapon so completely out of sync with the world’s entire aesthetic?’

Shatterer’s heart leaped into his throat. He had been brimming with confidence, certain he had an eighty, if not ninety, percent chance of winning this match. But now, after seeing that weapon, he immediately realized the number-one ranked player was far stronger than he’d imagined.

’Forget eighty or ninety percent. Now, I’d be lucky to have a sixty percent chance of winning.’

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t give Shatterer any more time to think.

The instant the teleportation completed, she shot forward like a cheetah. Her Water Dragon Roar Blade carved a cerulean arc through the air, which shrieked as if being torn apart.

Shatterer’s pupils shrank. Combat instinct took over, and he instantly raised his Double-bladed Battleaxe to parry.

CLANG!

The deafening clash of metal on metal echoed across the empty arena, sending sparks flying.

Shatterer felt an immense force travel up his Battle Axe, making his hand go numb. He was driven back three steps before he could steady himself.

He was stunned. ’Her Strength is overwhelming!’

Seeing her first strike fail, Seraphina Sinclair flicked her wrist, changing her chop to a slice. Her Blade slid along the axe’s edge, aimed at Shatterer’s fingers with a wickedly clever angle.

Shatterer let out a low roar, wrenching his Battle Axe downward to parry the long blade. He used the momentum to spin, the axe head whistling through the air as it swept horizontally toward Seraphina Sinclair’s waist.

His style was all about wide, sweeping attacks meant to overwhelm with pure force. If this swing connected, it would slice a person in half at the waist.

Seraphina Sinclair’s gaze sharpened as she took a light step back. The slight speed boost from her Wind-stepping Boots allowed her to evade it perfectly. The heavy axe head grazed the fabric of her clothes, the resulting gust of wind stinging her face.

But this was exactly what she had been waiting for—the fleeting opening created by his over-committed swing!

Shatterer’s axe met only air, his momentum causing him to lean slightly forward.

Now!

Seraphina Sinclair’s retreat halted abruptly. She pivoted into a sideways glide, slipping like a phantom into the opening on Shatterer’s right, which he had exposed with his wild swing.

The Water Dragon Roar Blade became a bolt of blue lightning in her hand, thrusting straight for the gap in the armor under Shatterer’s ribs, exposed by his turn!

Alarm bells screamed in Shatterer’s mind. It was too late to bring his axe back to block. He could only twist his body with all his might, trying to take the hit on his left armguard.

SHRRRKT!

The tip of the Water Dragon Roar Blade struck the edge of the armguard perfectly, but it wasn’t a head-on collision. Instead, it pierced through with ease!

With a grating shriek that set one’s teeth on edge, a gash was torn open in Shatterer’s armguard. The Blade grazed his skin, leaving a spray of blood in its wake.

"Urk!" Shatterer grunted, the sharp pain causing him to falter for a moment.

Seraphina Sinclair pressed her advantage, not giving an inch. Instead of retracting her blade, she advanced, twisting her wrist to change the thrust into an upward slash. The Blade streaked toward Shatterer’s jaw!

If it connected, it would take off half his head.

At this moment of life and death, a savage light flared in Shatterer’s eyes. He completely abandoned defense. With a beast-like roar, he ignored the pain in his ribs and arm and gripped his axe with both hands. The violent pressure from his swing was enough to stifle one’s breath.

It was both an attack and a defense, a gamble that Seraphina Sinclair wasn’t willing to die with him here.

In a split second, Seraphina Sinclair made her choice.

Her upward slash didn’t falter in the slightest, as if she couldn’t see the fatal Battle Axe descending upon her. But just as their weapons were about to collide, she mentally shouted, ’Leviathan’s Guardian!’

VMMMM!

The Water Dragon Pattern coiling around the Water Dragon Roar Blade suddenly blazed with a cerulean light. A clear yet resilient stream of water erupted from the Blade Guard. It didn’t shoot outward to attack but curled back inward, rapidly forming an oval water shield about half a foot from Seraphina Sinclair. The barrier was as thin as a cicada’s wing, yet it shimmered with an iridescent glow!

The instant the shield formed, a low, distant dragon’s roar could be faintly heard.

Shatterer’s Battle Axe, carrying enough force to shatter mountains, crashed violently against the newly formed water shield!

The expected scene of a shattered shield and a spray of gore did not occur.

The seemingly fragile barrier of water displayed astonishing resilience.

The axe head sank into the water barrier as if striking a thick gel. The ferocious impact was scattered by the endlessly circulating layers of water, which diffused the force little by little.

The water barrier dented deeply, its blue light flashing erratically, but it did not break. It held firm, protecting Seraphina Sinclair behind it.

And Seraphina Sinclair’s upward-swinging Blade had already reached Shatterer’s chin!

For the first time, sheer, unadulterated shock appeared in Shatterer’s eyes. He never could have imagined his opponent had such a miraculous defensive Skill. He was even more stunned that she would dare to take such a risk in a life-or-death struggle, entrusting her survival entirely to a single Skill!

He threw himself backward, but it was too late.

An icy touch grazed his throat, but instead of blood, it sent a shower of sparks flying.

Seraphina Sinclair raised her eyes and saw that at some point, Shatterer’s neck had turned into a material like Stone.

At Shatterer’s waist, a rolled scroll silently disintegrated into motes of light, obviously used.

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t know what kind of scroll he had used, but she knew how scrolls were activated.

’Why... was his scroll able to activate automatically?’

Seraphina Sinclair frowned slightly. The moment her attack failed, she immediately put distance between herself and Shatterer.

’No wonder Shatterer dared to risk it all just now. He wasn’t unprepared—he had a trump card to save his life at his waist.’

"*Cough*... Didn’t see that coming, did you?" Shatterer’s throat worked, producing a hoarse, unpleasant sound. A grinding noise, like stone rubbing on stone, came from his petrified neck.

The shock still lingered in his eyes, but it was overshadowed by the ferocious malice of a man who had just survived a close brush with death.

"Blacktiger Ford... Your reputation is well-deserved. I almost bought it right there."

He slowly lowered his raised Battle Axe and flexed his left arm, which was also covered in a stony sheen.

The area that had been cut by the Water Dragon Roar Blade was now also petrified, stanching the flow of blood.

Shatterer’s already heavy footsteps seemed to grow even more solid, reinforced by his petrified skin.

He looked like a living stone statue, and his defense had clearly increased significantly.

But Seraphina Sinclair remained unruffled. She held her long blade, her eyes fixed on Shatterer, while her feet moved silently, constantly adjusting the distance and angle between them.

Shatterer clicked his tongue. He gripped his Double-bladed Battleaxe with both hands, his muscles bulging. Beneath his petrified skin, his veins throbbed like coiling serpents.

"I’ll admit... you’re very strong. You’ve earned my respect."

His voice was raspy and held a trace of resignation, but his eyes grew even more savage. "But unfortunately for you, I’m the one who has you in my sights. Blacktiger Ford, today... is the day you die!"
