Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 36: She Has No Weakness
Chapter 36: Chapter 36: She Has No Weakness
’So that’s why they sent a voice message, deliberately putting on an affected voice. Were they hoping I’d go soft on them, or was there some other motive for getting me to trade them the seasonings?’
Seraphina chuckled softly. ’Knowing how to exploit people’s weaknesses is a useful skill, I suppose. Not that it has anything to do with me. I don’t have any weaknesses.’
Seraphina spent another two hours trading that afternoon.
As two o’clock approached, she finally wrapped up her information sales for the day.
As for the materials she’d gathered...
Inside Seraphina’s mobile cabin, various materials were now sorted and stacked in the corners, forming several neat ’little mountains of resources’.
In addition to these materials, many people had thrown in bottles of mineral water. Seraphina had just taken a moment to count them and was surprised to find there were over three hundred bottles in total.
She certainly wouldn’t have to worry about water for a while.
Seraphina stood before the piles of materials, pondering for a moment. ’If a powerful monster gets in here and wrecks the place, won’t all these materials be ruined?’
She frowned, deciding to move everything into the bathroom.
’The bathroom is small, but it’s secure.’
Besides, she hadn’t been using the space for the bathtub lately. It required too much water, and she wasn’t yet at a point where she could be so extravagant.
’I can completely convert it into a small storeroom for all these basic materials!’
No sooner said than done. Seraphina went to the bathroom, tidied up a little, and began moving the supplies, one load at a time.
Because she could teleport them directly, she was very efficient.
After the bathroom was filled to the brim, Seraphina directly traded the remaining basic materials for Blank Talisman Paper.
With that one exchange, she managed to get over a thousand sheets of Blank Talisman Paper!
Seraphina picked up a stack of the rune paper and patted it. ’Looks like I’ve finally achieved rune paper freedom!’
It was a shame that rune painting was so time-consuming; otherwise, Seraphina would have been tempted to pick up her brush and start on one right away.
She found two pieces of wood to weigh down the rune paper, then glanced at the time. It was already three in the afternoon.
’Time to move.’
’Move!’
Seraphina infused the sunshine into the room card. Including the sunshine from the nutrient liquid, she could harvest a total of nine Supply Boxes today!
She was full of anticipation, but unfortunately, luck wasn’t always on her side.
Nine surges of black mist only yielded nine F-level Supply Boxes.
’This is fine, too.’
She muttered, comforting herself. She rubbed her hands together and, full of hope, opened the boxes.
No blueprints.
Just disgusting food and basic materials.
’Fine.’
’This is fine, too.’
Seraphina was truly speechless. To think she’d waited three hours just for this.
’But at least the mobile cabin moved forward, putting more distance between us and the dead things behind. That’s a good thing, right?’
’Gotta keep a positive attitude.’
’Definitely have to keep a positive attitude.’
Seraphina sat cross-legged on the floor, scrolling through the trade channel for any mention of medicinal herbs.
Herbal extract was a necessary ingredient for crafting Blood Stopping Talismans.
She was out of Healing Potions and couldn’t get her hands on any more for the time being. Her only option was to settle for the next best thing: painting a few Blood Stopping Talismans.
Seraphina scrolled for a while but found nothing. A direct search also came up empty.
She sighed and decided to just post a message in the regional channel.
[Blacktiger Ford]: Looking to buy medicinal herbs or herbal extract. Anyone have any?
"The Master has spoken!"
"Medicinal herbs? What for? Is Master Blacktiger a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine or something?"
"I doubt it. What’s the use of that stuff? Even if you have the herbs, you can’t brew medicine without a clay pot, can you? Besides, the term ’medicinal herbs’ is way too broad. Master Blacktiger definitely isn’t a TCM practitioner. Someone who actually knew what they were doing wouldn’t phrase it like that."
"Who are you trying to... oh! Ah, sorry, force of habit. It’s Master Blacktiger! My apologies! Please, continue your search! By all means, continue!"
"All of you, shut up! The Master must have his reasons for wanting this! It’s not for clueless people like us to comment on!"
"What’s with all the mockery? Do you have medicinal herbs? Do you have herbal extract? No? Then stop yapping! What does this have to do with any of you? Mind your own damn business."
’Indeed.’
Seraphina strongly agreed with the last commenter.
It was the same the first time she’d posted in the regional channel. People had started flaming her without a second thought.
’Who knows when this toxic environment will ever change.’
’But that wasn’t my problem to worry about right now.’
After her information trade, Seraphina’s reputation had grown significantly. Many people had said they were now "following" her, so if any of them had medicinal herbs, they would probably contact her directly after seeing the message.
But right now, Seraphina’s private message window was completely silent.
"So no one has any..."
Seraphina was a little disappointed.
...
"What is this... I’ve never seen it before..."
On the sixth day in The Black Mist World, Seraphina was woken by the Sunflower’s thoughts. The plant, which was usually a quiet "child," was repeating the same phrase over and over.
Seraphina was still groggy when she opened her eyes. The Sunflower never had any thoughts this early in the morning, so for it to start up so suddenly today was indeed startling.
But as soon as she registered what the Sunflower was ’thinking,’ she immediately gripped the dagger she kept by her pillow.
’Something?’
’What is it?’
Seraphina scanned the room. Her cabin hadn’t moved; it was sitting right where she’d left it. The glass windows weren’t open, so how could anything have gotten in?
’If monsters can get in even when the doors and windows are shut tight for the night...’
Seraphina sneered. ’...then everyone might as well just die.’
She got up and walked a full circle around the mobile cabin. Everything was exactly as it had been when she’d gone to sleep: the placement and quantity of her items were completely unchanged.
Yet the Sunflower’s thoughts kept repeating. It was like a child who couldn’t get an answer, forced to repeat its question endlessly.
"What is this... I’ve never seen it before..."
Seraphina glanced from the Sunflower to the perfectly safe-looking cabin, then couldn’t help but lean in and poke the Sunflower’s smiling face.
"What are you talking about?"
Unfortunately, the Sunflower didn’t react to her words, just kept repeating the same phrase.
Seraphina was uneasy at first. But after another thorough inspection of the mobile cabin, she was completely at a loss.
’The Sunflower couldn’t possibly be seeing something that I can’t, could it?’
’That would be even weirder.’
’It’s never happened before, so why now?’
Seraphina glanced at the time. It was just past midnight, and she’d only been asleep for two hours.
If not for the Sunflower’s chanting, she wouldn’t be awake right now.
’But this time...’
’It’s just past midnight. Did something reset?’
Seraphina paced and searched until one in the morning, but finding nothing, she flopped back onto her bed in frustration.
’Sleep.’
’If there were any real danger, I’d already be dead. I can’t find anything now, so I might as well go back to sleep.’
’After all, I have a lot to do tomorrow.’
’Let the Sunflower keep chanting. It’s actually kind of soothing...’
The next time Seraphina woke, it was already almost eight.
Perhaps because she had been woken up in the middle of the night, she woke up a little later than usual.
Seraphina went about her usual routine: she washed her face and then started making herself breakfast.
