Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 267: A Good Review
Chapter 267: Chapter 267: A Good Review
"Ahem, you can just put that on the table."
"Right away, guest."
The waiter obligingly placed the tray on the table. Its gaze swept over Seraphina Sinclair’s face, and it couldn’t help but marvel at how quickly humans could control their emotions.
Once the food was set out, Seraphina Sinclair began her breakfast.
The waiter’s cooking was as superb as ever, needing no further description.
Seraphina Sinclair drank the last of her soy milk and contentedly set down her chopsticks. She had a classic Drakonian palate; for her, nothing beat this kind of food for breakfast.
As the waiter cleared the dishes, Seraphina Sinclair tugged at her jacket to get a better look.
The gash from yesterday’s Wind Blade was already gone, leaving not even the faintest trace. Its regenerative ability was far stronger than the Description had stated.
The more she looked, the more pleased Seraphina Sinclair became. She couldn’t resist giving it a couple of pats.
The sound drew the waiter’s attention. It had already taken care of the dishes and was now just clearing the stone tabletop. Realizing there was more to Seraphina Sinclair’s jacket than met the eye, it couldn’t help but stare for a moment longer. Confirming that it was, in fact, an item, the waiter finally spoke. "That’s a very nice piece of clothing you’re wearing."
The waiter’s praise was completely genuine.
Forget the humans who had suddenly entered this world; even among the native inhabitants, only a select few could wear such garments.
The prices of other items might fluctuate with the market, but clothing items were always exorbitantly priced.
Had the waiter been more explicit and explained all this, Seraphina Sinclair would have immediately realized that clothing items were the equivalent of luxury goods from her past life. Trading a single E-level rune for it was an absolute steal!
But the waiter said nothing of the sort, so Seraphina Sinclair simply took it as an ordinary compliment.
It was just...
"Why the sudden formality?"
Seraphina Sinclair saw the waiter every morning, so they were quite familiar with each other. ℴ
It wouldn’t have been a big deal coming from a stranger, but hearing that kind of formality from the waiter felt odd.
The waiter gave a bitter smile upon hearing the question. It lowered its voice and explained, "They’re cracking down on etiquette recently. No matter how familiar we are with a guest, we have to show enough respect, or we’ll get our wages docked."
’Docked wages.’
Seraphina Sinclair: "..."
Hearing those two words, she couldn’t help but turn to look out the window, just to make sure she was still in The Black Mist World before turning back to the waiter.
’Poor thing. So very pitiful.’
’So even a place like this has poor working stiffs.’
Seraphina Sinclair nodded. After exchanging a few more pleasantries, she took the fish meat out of her Silver Moon Earrings.
She pointed at the still-fresh fish piled into a small hill on the floor and briefly described her needs to the waiter. "I need to raise my Attributes as quickly as possible. Please process this fish for me. I’ll be eating only this for the next few days."
The waiter was momentarily stunned, but after a moment’s thought, it understood what Seraphina Sinclair meant. The guest felt her Constitution was a little low.
After all, the food provided by meal vouchers was ordinary and offered no enhancements whatsoever.
The waiter nodded in agreement. "Processing all of it is no problem, of course. However, you should know that any food or training is most effective the very first time. For you, this fish has already reached the point of diminishing returns. Even if I prepare it all and you eat every last bite, your Constitution won’t increase by much."
Seraphina Sinclair knew the rule, but she didn’t understand why the waiter was so certain the fish would have little effect on her.
She thought as much, and so she asked.
And the waiter’s answer was: "Because I know you have used even better ingredients."
Seraphina Sinclair immediately recalled the food sent by that Great Dragonbeast, as well as the higher-grade fish she had caught with her own hands.
Those were indeed better ingredients compared to what she had stockpiled in her Silver Moon Earrings, which consisted mostly of E-level fish.
The waiter knew what she was wondering. "Increasing your Attributes is very difficult. In essence, strengthening yourself through food works by purging impurities from your body. The more impurities you expel, the more it manifests as an increase in attribute points."
"And once you’ve consumed higher-grade food and your body has experienced its effects," the waiter said, gesturing to the pile of mostly E-level fish on the floor, "the impurities these can purge for you are minuscule. Naturally, their effectiveness is drastically reduced."
"It’s like... hmm, it’s like you’ve already washed your body with clean water, and then you try to use muddy river water. The effect is almost negligible."
The analogy was so intuitive that Seraphina Sinclair immediately grasped the crux of the matter.
She looked at the pile of fish on the floor, a pang of disappointment in her heart.
’I thought I could just brute-force some stats with sheer quantity, but I guess the rules are stricter than I realized.’
"I see. Thank you for letting me know."
Seraphina Sinclair thanked the waiter. This knowledge had saved her from wasting her time on a fruitless endeavor.
"You’re too kind," the waiter said with a slight bow. "So, would you still like me to process the fish? While they won’t do much for your Attributes, they’re perfectly good for a meal and restoring your energy. I can also guarantee my cooking will make them quite palatable."
Seraphina Sinclair thought for a moment before nodding. "Process them."
’It’s still food, after all. Can’t let it go to waste.’
’Besides, I don’t have any other way to increase my Constitution right now. It would be great if there was a lake nearby so I could go fishing again.’
"I will return this evening, and you’ll be able to have the fish for dinner."
Seraphina Sinclair was very pleased with this service. Feeling a sense of solidarity with the working stiff, she proactively asked, "Is there a way I can leave a good review or something?"
The waiter was visibly stunned.
It only knew that humans were difficult to please, but it had never imagined a human would proactively ask to leave a good review!
But who would ever turn down a good review that was offered to them on a silver platter?
A genuine smile, even more brilliant than its standard one, spread across the waiter’s face. "Of course! If you’d be so kind... Good reviews are very important to us in our service Evaluation system."
It seemed a bit embarrassed, but added, "Especially from a guest like you... erm, one with a higher spending record. Your good review would add a significant amount to my performance score this month."
Seraphina Sinclair understood. ’The joys and sorrows of a working stiff are truly universal,’ she thought. ’You can never escape KPIs.’
"No problem. How do I do it?"
The waiter expertly guided her to open the trade platform and find the "Service Feedback" portal, which was tucked away in an incredibly obscure corner.
Following the prompts, Seraphina Sinclair found the order for that morning’s meal service, decisively selected "Very Satisfied," and wrote a short note in the comments: "Attentive service, delicious food, highly recommended."
"Will this do?"
