Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 240: Underestimated Her
Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Underestimated Her
Artemis again.
Seraphina Sinclair read the message carefully, subconsciously raising a hand to her chin in thought.
She had originally thought there was a wide variety of professions in this world, but it turned out there were only four main ones.
Scrolling down, she saw the survivors’ astounded reactions.
"Professions?!!"
"How the hell does a place like this even have something like that?! Do all the masters have professions?"
"I’m really starting to see the difference between people now. Even though the descriptions are brief, you can tell that having a profession puts you in a completely different league from ordinary survivors!"
"So jealous! I don’t know who has a profession yet, but I’m already green with envy!"
"Can professions be taken? If you kill someone with a profession, does it go to the killer like other supplies, or does it just disappear?"
It was a fascinating question, and it instantly captured every survivor’s attention.
That, of course, included Seraphina Sinclair.
She knew a bit more than they did. Knowing that a person could have multiple professions made her very "curious" about the origins of the Pretty Guardian Pharmacist.
If they really could be taken...
Seraphina Sinclair had to admit, she wasn’t exactly a good person.
The Zone channel fell silent for a moment after that sharp question. When new messages finally started popping up, they were much more cautious.
"That’s... kind of a scary thing to say."
"It’s survival of the fittest. Isn’t that normal here? I’m just curious about the rules."
"It can’t be that easy, right? Otherwise, the masters would have been swarmed and attacked long ago."
"Swarmed? How? The Arena Proof can only be used on one player at a time. Besides one-on-one duels, there’s no other way."
"You could use a gauntlet strategy. As soon as a master finishes one duel, another survivor challenges them immediately. Even a master probably couldn’t handle too many rounds of that, right?"
"Exactly! Even a swarm of ants can take down an elephant. Masters are still human."
"Easier said than done. That’s not realistic at all. Everyone knows a gauntlet wears down a master, but the people who go first are just signing their own death warrants, while the ones at the back would rake it all in. We’ve all survived this long; who would be willing to sacrifice their own life just to pave the way for someone else?"
Seraphina Sinclair nodded slightly.
’Can’t argue with that. That’s just reality.’
People are selfish. Even if a group wanted to use a gauntlet strategy on a master, they’d argue endlessly about who goes first and who goes last, and the whole thing would fall apart.
It was precisely because of this mentality—not wanting anyone else to profit—that masters like Seraphina Sinclair could remain unchallenged.
Seraphina Sinclair kept scrolling. The next message was from...
Rex Shaw.
[Rex Shaw]: The hell are you all whispering about? Huh? Not even trying to hide it, are you? Discussing how to kill masters right in front of us? Is that it? Fine, I’m right here. Who wants to be the first to try their luck? I guarantee I’ll beat the shit out of you!
The moment this explosive message appeared, the Zone channel went dead silent.
The few people who had been enthusiastically discussing the "gauntlet strategy" immediately shut up. They probably wished they could delete their messages, terrified of him holding a grudge.
Staring at the screen, Seraphina Sinclair’s lips curled into a barely perceptible smile.
’Rex Shaw has a short fuse, but sometimes that kind of straightforward arrogance is the best way to control a situation.’
After a brief silence, someone finally stepped in to smooth things over.
"Rex, don’t be mad. Everyone was just talking casually. We don’t even know the rules yet."
"Yeah, yeah, nobody would dare come after you!"
"Our man Rex is just like that, real direct. But let’s be real, you guys have some serious balls, discussing this stuff in the Zone channel and pissing off every master at once. Impressive, impressive!"
A string of "Impressive, impressive!" posts followed, shaming the original posters into silence.
Seraphina Sinclair had to scroll for a long time before she saw any more information about professions.
"Rune Masters and Pharmacists both craft things, and Engraving Masters can improve blueprints. Those three are easy to understand. But the Sealing Master... why does that one sound so weird?"
"Sealing Master sounds totally badass! Just seal stuff away!"
"But Potions and runes are tangible things that can immediately boost your survival chances. They feel more practical."
"If I could choose, I’d still pick Rune Master. I haven’t seen the others, but I know what Rune Masters can do. Master Blacktiger’s runes are seriously useful!"
’Here we go again.’
Seraphina Sinclair patiently continued reading.
"Is Master Blacktiger the only one whose situation we know about?"
"Well, Master Blacktiger has sold runes. If other masters are Engraving Masters or Sealing Masters, they wouldn’t have anything to sell even if they wanted to, right? As for Pharmacists, I haven’t seen any."
"Hey, I bought a Potion from a survivor in my Zone before!"
"I’ve bought one too! But you can also get them from Supply Boxes, so it’s hard to tell, isn’t it?"
"Presumed guilty until proven innocent! If there’s any chance, just use an Arena Proof on them! If it’s true, you’ll be set for life!"
"Tsk, tsk. Now I get why only Master Blacktiger dares to sell the products of his profession. Anyone without real strength would be targeted immediately, wouldn’t they?"
’How interesting.’
That was the end of the message log. The following messages were new:
"So, are Master Blacktiger’s runes really that good? How do you buy them?"
"I’ve used them! I’ve used them!! They’re super-duper good! The Fire Drawing Rune—you tear it, and POOF, a ball of fire that burns whatever you point it at! So damn useful! I’ve bought them, and I’ll gladly advertise for Master Blacktiger for free! If it weren’t for his runes, I’d have been dead a long time ago!"
"I even bought a higher-level rune, an E-level one called the Purifying Flame Rune! A single one of those burned an E-level monster to a crisp! It’s super strong! I don’t know what the other professions are like, but Rune Master is definitely the strongest offensive profession! Pro-life tip: don’t mess with Master Blacktiger!"
"’Pro-life tip,’ haha. The names of these runes are so cool. I wish I could become a Rune Master too. @Blacktiger Ford, Master, are you selling the method to become one?"
As soon as that message popped up, the Zone channel exploded with activity again.
"If the master is selling, I’m buying! Whether it’s runes or the way to become a Rune Master!"
"Are you kidding? Why would he ever sell that?"
"That’s gotta be the master’s ace in the hole, right? He’s probably already uncomfortable that we even know about it, let alone selling the secret to becoming a Rune Master."
’Ace in the hole? Uncomfortable?’
Seraphina Sinclair couldn’t help but let her eyes curve into a smile. ’These people really underestimate me, don’t they?’
From the moment she started selling the runes, she knew this day would eventually come.
