Chapter 211: Chapter 211: What a Mess

She cut the crap and got straight to demanding their things. "Hand over everything valuable you’ve got. Don’t make me get physical. If this gets ugly, it won’t be good for anyone."

Even as she spoke such thuggish words, she did so with a smile.

To Selene Lawson and Victor Warner, this so-called "boss," Blacktiger Ford, was no different from a mountain bandit!

Victor Warner’s face twisted in agony. He fumbled around his clothes for a long moment before finally pulling out the dagger he had just tucked into his waistband. "Boss... this is it. This is really all I have. If you want it, take it. I really don’t have anything else to give."

His expression was pained, but Selene Lawson’s was even more so. After a long search, she produced a card that had recently been torn and offered it to Seraphina Sinclair with both hands.

"See for yourself. This thing can only be used once a day, and I really gave it my all just now. We’re fish on the chopping block, and you’re the one holding the knife. Whether the two of us live or die is completely up to you."

Seraphina Sinclair held the dagger in one hand and the card in the other. A smirk played on her lips, but she didn’t believe them so easily. She bluffed, "Changing strategies now? Trying to play the ’nothing to lose’ card with me?"

She glanced at the card in her hand and continued, "People with nothing to lose aren’t afraid of dying. You two... aren’t afraid of dying either?"

Another threat!

Victor Warner was miserable. At this moment, he desperately missed the previous, more agreeable Seraphina Sinclair.

’How could the boss have changed so suddenly?’

He was miserable, but Selene Lawson was even more so.

She only had two items: one was the Copper Coin for finding the True Knowledge Stone Plate, and the other was the Cloud Shadow Long Sword, which could only be used once a day.

She had played both of her trump cards, only to still be questioned by this boss...

In all her life, this was the first time Selene Lawson had been taken advantage of like this. Blacktiger Ford, Serafelle Sinclair—she would remember this name!

With that thought, Selene Lawson kicked Victor Warner again and uttered three words: "Hand it over."

Victor Warner’s face went pale. "Hand what over?!"

He tried his best to look confused, but Seraphina Sinclair could still see the flicker of shock he was desperately trying to hide.

Seraphina Sinclair understood. Her eyes drifted to the spot he was trying so hard to conceal.

There was a slight, unnatural bulge. He had definitely stuffed something there.

’Which means...’

Seraphina Sinclair withdrew her gaze, a plan already forming in her mind.

’This Selene Lawson is surprisingly sharp when it comes to these things.’

Seraphina Sinclair stopped thinking about it and cracked a smile. "Take it out."

Victor Warner still wanted to play dumb, but after seeing the expressions on Seraphina Sinclair’s and Selene Lawson’s faces, he immediately backed down. "Heh heh, heh heh heh..."

He scratched his head with a foolish laugh, lifted his clothes to pull out the hidden item, and handed it to Seraphina Sinclair with both hands. He then sheepishly rubbed his shaved head, his sigh completely genuine. "Sigh, what a mess this has turned into."

’As long as he coughed it up.’

It was a scroll, very similar to the ones Seraphina Sinclair had, yet completely different.

[Imprisonment Scroll (E-level)]

[Description: Use your will as chains to draw a prison on the ground. Unfurl the scroll and lock onto a target to restrict their movement! The duration ranges from 1 second to 3 minutes, during which the imprisoned target cannot move in any way! The strength of the chains depends on the power of the user and the target; the smaller the gap in power, the more effective the scroll!]

’This thing...’

’It’s a bit mediocre, isn’t it? The shortest Imprisonment time is only one second.’

Seraphina Sinclair glanced at Victor Warner. He definitely knew what this thing did, which was why he hadn’t dared to fight back. He looked incredibly guilty and immediately shouted when he met her gaze, "I absolutely never thought about using it on you!"

’So he definitely thought about it.’

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t really mind. It would have been stranger if he hadn’t.

It wasn’t just him; Selene Lawson had certainly thought about it too.

But as she had said before, for these two to have survived this long, they had to be smart.

And smart people knew that fighting the number one player was just asking for death!

Now that all the items were out in the open, it was time to deal with the monster.

Seraphina Sinclair looked again at the dagger and the card Selene Lawson had produced.

The dagger was an ordinary one that increased attribute points, but only added two points to Strength. The glow came from it having been enhanced, just like Seraphina Sinclair’s previous dagger, giving it a "Sharpness" effect on attacks.

But overall, the thing couldn’t hold a candle to Seraphina Sinclair’s longsword.

Selene Lawson’s card was even more bizarre.

[Cloud Shadow Long Sword Card (E-level)]

[Description: A strange card that seals a wisp of cloud and shadow. Tearing the card summons a "Cloud Shadow Long Sword" made of pure light energy for the user to wield. It lasts for a period of time or until its energy is depleted! The Cloud Shadow Long Sword is extremely sharp and its blade is as light as air. When used, it will naturally perform slashes and parries. This card can only be used once per day. After each summoning, it requires 24 hours of natural recharging before it can be used again. Current energy status: (Used, Recharging...)]

[Note: It gathers to form, scatters to vapor. Like a cloud, like a shadow, it is elusive.]

In short, it gave no attribute point bonuses.

It was less a weapon and more of a tutor. Once summoned, even a complete novice who had never used a weapon could wield it proficiently.

Besides, they were only E-level. Naturally, Seraphina Sinclair had no interest in either of them.

But now that they were in her hands, getting them back wouldn’t be so simple.

Seraphina Sinclair stored everything in her Silver Moon Earrings, her movements as natural as if the items had been hers all along.

She didn’t spare another glance for the colorful expressions on their faces and turned toward the outpost gate.

"Keep up," her voice rang out. "Or stay here and wait to die."

Victor Warner and Selene Lawson had no choice but to grit their teeth and follow.

Outside the gate, the ink-black fog was no longer churning violently, but it was still thick enough to be suffocating.

In the distance, the massive silhouette was like a dormant beast, exuding a silent pressure that made one’s heart clench just by looking at it.

Seraphina Sinclair had a clear goal. She walked straight toward the "door" that had remained after the fourth wave ended.

The closer she got, the stronger the primal fear that stemmed from the very instinct for survival became.

Victor Warner’s calves were trembling, while Selene Lawson’s face was pale and her breathing ragged.

"B-Boss, do we really have to get this close?" Victor Warner’s voice was on the verge of tears.

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t answer. ’What a stupid question. How are we supposed to attack if we don’t get close?’

She stopped about ten meters from the "door."

At this distance, she could clearly feel the cold, deathly aura emanating from within the door.
