Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 194: Basic Meditation Method
Chapter 194: Chapter 194: Basic Meditation Method
One reason was the Mental Pressure from the Single Lens, and the other was the recent confrontation with the President.
Seraphina Sinclair had put on an unconcerned front, but in reality, she had no confidence at all. She was truly prepared for the worst—sacrificing Auric Young and abandoning the challenge.
Fortunately, her opponent wasn’t completely without weaknesses.
Seraphina Sinclair took two steps back, then flopped down flat on the floor.
Like a beached fish, she flailed her limbs on the floor for a moment. Just as she began to relax, she felt something gently bite her finger.
The sensation was cool and moist, and something sharp pressed against her finger.
Seraphina Sinclair turned her head and saw Lucky gently gnawing on her fingertip with its tiny, incomplete milk teeth. The pressure was so light it was less of a bite and more of a gentle hold.
Its glistening eyes reflected her own disheveled appearance, and in their depths was a sort of innocent concern.
Seraphina Sinclair had mixed feelings.
She was supposed to dislike this little creature, but it was being undeniably cute.
She stared at Lucky in silence for a moment before her lips finally curled into a small smile.
"What, scared I was going to die?"
She didn’t pull her hand away. Lucky, not understanding a word the human said, just continued to gently nibble the pad of Seraphina Sinclair’s finger as if trying to coax her.
After sprawling on the floor for a few more minutes, once the soreness in her limbs and the stabbing pain in her head had subsided a bit, Seraphina Sinclair pushed herself into a sitting position. Lucky didn’t let go and ended up dangling in midair, still attached to her finger.
Seraphina Sinclair ignored it for the moment, first checking the items inside her mobile cabin. Only after confirming that all her rewards had been delivered did the knot of anxiety in her chest finally loosen.
She looked down at Lucky, who was still latched onto her finger. Cupping it in her palm, she poked its cool little head with her other hand. "Let go."
Lucky clearly didn’t understand. Seraphina Sinclair wasn’t one to coddle it, so she simply picked the little dragon up and tossed it back into its nest.
Now, it was time to inspect her spoils!
First up was, of course, the C-level Skill Book Seraphina Sinclair had been most excited about.
She lifted the book with both hands and then used Insight.
[Skill Book - Basic Meditation Method (C-level)]
[Description: A Skill Book. Upon use, grants the Skill: Basic Meditation. Its effectiveness is related to the user’s spiritual power aptitude and the time invested. By entering a state of meditation, you can continuously recover spirit, continuously raise your maximum Intelligence, and continuously enhance your resistance to Spiritual Pollution! The effects of meditation are directly proportional to its duration and your level of focus, and are also influenced by your Intelligence Points!]
[Learning Requirements: Special Skill Book, no requirements.]
Seraphina Sinclair had assumed that the reward for a highest-difficulty E-level Coliseum would be a D-level Skill Book at most. She never expected it to be C-level!
It seemed the rewards from The Coliseum weren’t closely tied to the Level of the Invitation Letter. What truly mattered were the points paid by the spectators.
The more points they paid, the better the rewards.
And the effects of this Skill Book...
Seraphina Sinclair read the description again carefully. After confirming that she could truly gain a threefold benefit just by meditating—and that the Skill Book had no learning requirements whatsoever—she took a slow, deep breath, her face flushing with excitement.
She didn’t have to think twice about what to do next. Seraphina Sinclair chose to use the Skill Book.
This was the first time she had used a Skill Book in this world.
In her hands, the book’s pages dissolved into specks of warm white light that flew like fireflies toward the spot between her brows before silently merging into her.
Immediately, Seraphina Sinclair felt a cool current spread through her mind. A flood of profound knowledge—on how to guide spiritual power, control the rhythm of her breath, and focus her consciousness—surfaced as if she had practiced it a thousand times before.
A moment later, she opened her eyes, and a panel popped up in front of her:
[You have learned the Skill: Basic Meditation (C-level)]
Another faintly glowing icon had appeared on her wrist.
Seraphina Sinclair tapped it open and saw the Skill’s detailed information.
[Basic Meditation]
[Description: An Active Skill. The cornerstone to the mysteries of the spirit. Persevere, and its true power shall be revealed!]
’That’s it?’
Although Seraphina Sinclair didn’t quite get it, she was still eager to try. She sat down cross-legged, and after a glance at her other rewards, decided to attempt meditation first.
She closed her eyes and, following the method now in her mind, adjusted her breathing, tried to empty her thoughts, and sank her consciousness into her mind’s sea.
At first, her thoughts remained chaotic. Seraphina Sinclair decided to take a shortcut and activated [Water Stopping].
In an instant, her mind became perfectly clear.
She kept the key principles of the technique in mind, remaining patient and unhurried as she adjusted her breathing according to the method.
Gradually, Seraphina Sinclair’s breaths grew long and rhythmic, her heartbeat seemingly synchronizing with them. A strange sense of tranquility bloomed deep within her and spread outwards.
The dull ache from overusing the Single Lens began to ease at a slow but discernible rate, soothed by this cool current. The fatigue in her body seemed to be melting away as well.
She could even vaguely perceive a strange sensation, like a trickling stream flowing into a dry riverbed. Though far from being full, the nourishing feeling was intoxicating.
’It’s probably because my Intelligence is slowly increasing.’
After an unknown amount of time, Seraphina Sinclair slowly emerged from the profound state.
She opened her eyes and let out a long breath, feeling completely refreshed. The mental fatigue from the battle and confrontation had vanished, her mind was clearer than ever, and even her Perception felt a little sharper.
She eagerly opened her panel, only to see, as expected, that her Intelligence hadn’t increased by a single point.
Having experienced the same thing with her Constitution, Seraphina Sinclair was no longer surprised.
’It’s all about gradual accumulation for a sudden breakthrough. The increase in attribute points *is* the breakthrough.’
She stood up, straightened her slightly disheveled clothes, and finally turned her attention to the new blueprint.
[Special Building Blueprint - Basic Training Room]
[Learning Requirements: Intelligence ≥ 29.]
[Effect: This building blueprint is ungraded. A Basic Training Room can be built in a designated empty space in the mobile cabin for Strength and Speed training! The time flow inside the training room is 1.2:1 compared to the outside world (1.2 hours inside for every 1 hour outside), and it possesses a slight bonus to injury recovery speed.]
[Construction Requirements: wood x50, Stone x30, Iron Ingot x10, Black Fog Coin x500, compressed energy block x100]
’The time flow is different!’ A jolt went through Seraphina Sinclair’s heart.
’This effect is incredibly useful!’
While a 1.2:1 ratio might not seem like a huge increase, it would accumulate over time, giving her a significant amount of extra effective time compared to others.
Whether for meditation, training, or recovering, time was what Seraphina Sinclair needed most.
Not to mention the slight bonus to injury recovery!
It was just... the required materials...
’It needs ten Iron Ingots.’
Seraphina Sinclair could technically craft Iron Ingots now, but that 0.99% success rate was nothing to write home about!
