Chapter 187: Chapter 187: The President

The remaining monsters roared and charged again, but Seraphina Sinclair was no longer there.

Her movements were fluid, without a hint of hesitation. Carried by her forward momentum, her blade swung back in a wide arc, cleaving a second Rotting Corpse diagonally from shoulder blade to waist. Foul-smelling innards spilled onto the ground with a wet SLOSH.

Even the worldly audience, who had seen it all, was stunned into silence by her clean, decisive action.

After a long moment, a voice finally broke the silence. "Who was it that said she hated getting dirty?"

"That monster’s blood splattered all over her face! She didn’t even blink! How can a human like that exist? The difference between her in the lounge and her in The Coliseum is just too great!"

"Waaah! I’ve been tricked by a human again! Humans are such a treacherous and cunning bunch."

"This must be her first time in The Coliseum, right? It’s impossible for someone like her to be unknown! I made a mistake this time. From now on, I’m betting on her every time!"

"We agreed we were going to make sure she stayed here for good! What are you all talking about?"

As the discussion continued, the audience’s disagreements seemed to be escalating into a full-blown dispute.

These spectators had no concept of "gentlemen use their words, not their fists." At the slightest disagreement, they would flush red and leap to their feet.

Although they wore human skin, they weren’t truly human. Now, feeling threatened, they subconsciously snarled, baring their teeth.

Every spectator in the stands was red-faced, refusing to back down. A brawl seemed imminent when a spectator in the front row, one inhabiting a female skin, suddenly stood up.

"Everyone, let’s not cause any trouble."

Its voice wasn’t loud, but it effortlessly quelled the entire commotion.

The spectators’ hostile expressions vanished, their faces once again wreathed in smiles as they treated this individual with the utmost respect.

"President, we just want to earn a few more Black Fog Coins."

"Yeah, President, we just want to earn a little extra. We don’t mean anything else by it."

"Since you’re here, President, why don’t you make a decision for us! Should we use our points to make things difficult for this human or not? She’s the server-wide number one, after all! Even if that was from a week and a half ago, she’s still number one! It’d be a shame not to have a little fun with such a rare specimen, wouldn’t it?"

Before the spectator known as the "President" could speak, the one sitting next to it retorted:

"Don’t think we don’t know what you’re up to! You bet on the monsters to win. If she wins, you’ll lose your shorts! Of course you want us to use our points to help you out!"

"Exactly! And you talk about it being a ’shame.’ As if we don’t all know what you’re really after!"

That spectator’s face turned ugly after being rebuked. If the President hadn’t been there, a fight would have been unavoidable.

Just then, the President spoke again. "That’s enough. What’s there to argue about? Don’t we all just want to earn some Black Fog Coins?"

To the other spectators, those words were music to their ears.

"Does the President have a good idea?"

"The President is the best at earning Black Fog Coins! Just give the word, and I’ll do whatever the President says!"

"When the President speaks, they’re words of gold! We’ll definitely follow your orders!"

The President seemed to have anticipated this situation. It casually raised a hand and gestured downwards twice, waiting for the other spectators to quiet down before speaking calmly.

"My proposal is this: we do everything in our power to make things difficult for this so-called number one on the leaderboard. If she truly earned that rank, it means she has the ability to back it up. Our job is to verify if she truly possesses that ability! If she does, then from now on, whenever she enters The Coliseum, betting on her will be a guaranteed win for us. If she doesn’t, we only lose out this one time. After all, opportunities like this are rare. You all need to seize this one."

When it finished speaking, the boisterous stands fell silent.

A moment later, whispers broke out. "What does the President mean by that?"

"Use points to make it hard for her? All of our points?"

"The President has a point! If we make it as hard as possible for her and she still survives, then we can just bet on her every time from now on, right? It’s a surefire bet with no losses!"

"Most importantly, opportunities like this really are rare. If we don’t seize this one, we might not get another chance!"

"Listen to the President! Everyone listen to the President!"

"The great President was able to become president for a reason! Their vision and perspective are beyond ours! If we want to earn Black Fog Coins, listening to the President is definitely the right move!"

The President’s words were like a spark dropped into boiling oil, instantly igniting the greed and fervor of every being in the audience.

The spectators, who had been divided just moments before, now reached an unprecedented consensus.

They would use their special privileges as spectators to pave a road of thorns to hell for the seemingly composed human woman in the arena!

In The Coliseum, Seraphina Sinclair had just swung her blade and lopped off the head of the last monster. She had easily defeated the fifth wave of monsters.

Starting with the next wave, she would have the right to withdraw at any time.

Seraphina Sinclair was panting slightly. The monsters were increasing in number, and for her, the biggest drain was on her stamina.

The good thing, however, was that she still hadn’t had to use her trump cards—the runes in her possession.

The countdown ended, and the sixth wave of monsters appeared right on schedule.

Seraphina Sinclair narrowed her eyes, observing the situation in the center of The Coliseum.

A fog had suddenly rolled in, but she wasn’t flustered. The waiter had mentioned this possibility, so Seraphina Sinclair was already mentally prepared.

Besides, with her Single Lens, it was debatable who should be the one afraid in the fog.

What appeared in the center of the arena was not the grotesque, slime-dripping monster she had expected, but three suits of... Armor?

They were three suits of full-plate Armor covered in dark metal, standing silently in the bloody mire. Their surfaces were smooth, barely reflecting the surrounding firelight. Only from the slits of their helms did two points of cold, inhuman, eerie blue light shine through.

In their hands, they held archaic-looking longswords and great-axes, the cold glint of the weapons forming a stark contrast to their own dark hues.

There was no foul stench, no slime, not even a trace of a living creature’s aura.

There was only a murderous intent, as heavy as a mountain and as sharp as a blade, silently spreading through the air.

A wave of surprised whispers also came from the audience.

"Huh? Clean Executioners? How did the President manage to bring those out?"

"These things are no pushovers. Their defense is incredibly high, and... hehe, they suit her personality perfectly. Doesn’t she hate dirty things? So we’ll give her clean ones!"

"Just watch. This is a gap of absolute Strength. She’s really in for it now!"

Seraphina Sinclair was oblivious to the whispers in the stands. She simply stared intently at the three monsters standing before her.

The pressure from these three suits of Armor was far greater than that of the previous five waves of monsters combined.

She took a deep breath, suppressing the slight fatigue from the continuous fighting, her gaze growing even more focused.
