Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Big Trouble

[Cursed Dragon Descendant Egg]

[Description: A large, warm egg brimming with life force. Its surface is covered in strange, soft, velvety patterns originating from its parents. It sleeps soundly in your arms, its faint heartbeat hinting at the powerful potential of the creature within. Beneath this warm exterior lingers an innate curse.]

[Note: Cannot be traded, cannot change owner. Currently bound to survivor Seraphina Sinclair!]

[Weakness: You can treat it using any method you would use on a chicken egg.]

Seraphina Sinclair: "..."

’Is this what I was supposed to see?’

’But what does this so-called "innate curse" mean?’

As Seraphina was deep in thought, she suddenly heard Sunflower’s mental voice: ’Something nasty has come in... a wretched thing...’

Seraphina froze. Her wary gaze swept around the mobile cabin before naturally landing on the Dragon Egg in front of her.

The nasty thing Sunflower was talking about had to be this.

But that didn’t prove anything.

Sunflower also hated Auric Young, and Auric Young was beneficial for survival.

As for this Dragon Egg...

While Seraphina was still wondering what to do with it, Sunflower’s voice echoed in her mind again.

’Little one... Little one is in danger...’

Its tone was fraught with worry.

Just then, the black mist surged in for a second time. Seraphina expected a powerful monster to emerge.

But after the black mist receded, only an F-level Supply Box was left on the mobile cabin’s wooden floor.

’If the source of the danger isn’t the black mist, then...’

’It can only be this egg.’

The next moment, Sunflower’s voice confirmed her suspicion. ’How could the little one bring something like this back... such a terrifying thing... When it grows up... it will kill us all...’

Kill us all...

The "us" clearly referred to her and Sunflower.

Sunflower’s tone was grave and serious, clearly different from its petty squabbles over Auric Young.

This thing was truly dangerous.

Seraphina’s expression turned grim. Her thoughts had shifted. A moment ago, she was thinking about how to hatch the egg; now, she was thinking about how to eat it.

’It should be edible, right?’

’After all, the weakness section said she could use "any method you would use on a chicken egg" to deal with it.’

’I’ve had plenty of fried chicken eggs, but this would be my first time frying a Dragon Egg.’

Seraphina rearranged the Stones on the floor to support her small pot. Realizing the egg was too big for one pot, she went to the regional channel and traded for a few Iron Basins.

With everything ready, Seraphina gripped her long saber, her gaze fixed on the deep blue egg.

She raised the saber high, but just as she was about to bring it down, Sunflower’s mental voice stopped her. ’What is the little one doing... You can’t do that... Little one... you’ll die... you’ll die...’

Seraphina’s hand, holding the saber, froze in mid-air. Sunflower’s terrified cries of "you’ll die... you’ll die..." were like a splash of icy water, instantly calming her down.

Die?

’Not because of what’s inside the egg, but because of...’

’The act of breaking the egg itself?’

She suddenly recalled the "reluctant" glance the giant Dragonbeast had given her as it left.

Seraphina hadn’t understood any of the monster’s actions, except for that final glance. It was the loving gaze of an elder looking at a child—a look she knew all too well.

And that gaze definitely wasn’t for her, but for the egg in her arms at that moment!

’Now... if this egg is destroyed here, will that terrifyingly powerful Dragonbeast sense it?’

’Will it fly into a rage and come for revenge?’

Or perhaps...

A sudden shiver ran through Seraphina’s body, likely the work of the Moonlight Jellyfish’s Blessing. She stiffly turned her head, her gaze piercing through the window. It didn’t take long before she saw a massive dragon-like shadow flash through the black mist.

That thing hadn’t left at all. It was following her mobile cabin right now.

And at this very moment, it seemed to have sensed something was wrong. Its shadow drew closer.

The entire mobile cabin began to shake, as if something heavy had landed on it.

Then, something suddenly blocked the window—a huge, scarlet eye pressed against the glass.

Seraphina’s body went rigid. She held her long saber defensively in front of her, staring at the eye.

It seemed to have come to check on the egg. Seeing the giant egg was still safe and sound, it didn’t even spare Seraphina a glance before flying away amidst the cabin’s shaking.

After a long moment, Seraphina recovered from the shock.

She silently lowered her long saber, finally understanding.

She hadn’t just gotten lucky and been gifted a Dragon Egg; she had been thrown into an impossible dilemma.

Break it, and she might invite immediate, catastrophic disaster.

Keep it, and she’d be nurturing a time bomb destined to turn on her.

Seraphina Sinclair silently lowered her long saber, her gaze falling once more upon the deep blue Dragon Egg.

It lay there quietly, still warm, but now it felt like a red-hot branding iron—impossible to hold, yet impossible to drop.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.

’Trade the egg away? But the Description clearly stated it belonged solely to her.’

This egg, this curse, had been firmly bound to her from the moment she took it, inseparable from her identity.

After agonizing over it, Seraphina felt a strange sense of relief.

Her gaze returned to the deep blue Dragon Egg.

It was still quiet, radiating an undeniable life force and warmth, but looking at it now felt completely different.

"Alright," she said to the Dragon Egg, as if also speaking to herself and Sunflower. "Since I can’t get rid of you, you’re mine now."

There was a hint of resignation in Seraphina’s voice, but it was mostly the do-or-die determination of someone who had realized they had no other choice.

Breaking it meant dying now, while keeping it meant she could live a little longer. So, she would keep it.

Seraphina picked up the Dragon Egg and placed it in the bathroom.

It was safe there; no careless monster would accidentally break the Dragon Egg.

After all, she didn’t know if the dragon flying outside would blame her for everything. It was better to be cautious.

Just as she put the egg down, Seraphina paused again.

’If the dragon outside can’t see its egg, won’t it come looking for trouble with me?’

’This egg can’t stay here!’

Seraphina sighed, picked up the egg, and returned to the main area of the mobile cabin.

She traded for a blanket on the regional channel, bundled it up into a small nest, and settled the egg inside.

’What a day,’ she thought. ’Everything’s gone wrong.’

First, she was tricked by a waiter first thing in the morning, and then she was forced to take on this huge problem while moving.

’On top of that, I’ve almost used up all my runes. If I run into a path boss now...’

Seraphina shivered and immediately shook her head violently to banish the thought.

’I can’t be that unlucky!’

’No way!’

But with no runes in hand, she still felt uneasy. After the black mist surged in for the third time, Seraphina didn’t rush to move on.

’I’ll draw a few first.’

’Even if I don’t use them, just having them will be a relief.’
