Chapter 175: Chapter 175: Special Invitation Letter

[Weaknesses: 1. The mouthpart at the top of the worm’s main body is its only vital point, but it is usually heavily protected by the corpse fingers. A precise pierce can be a one-hit kill. 2. Fire.]

’Fire?’

’This is the first time I’ve seen such a simple and clear-cut weakness. But since it’s here...’

Seraphina Sinclair certainly wasn’t going to let it go to waste!

She suddenly raised a hand, dozens of Fire Drawing Runes already fanned between her fingers.

Although she had sold quite a few to the Traveling Merchant, she knew she’d have to cover a lot of ground using sunshine today, so how could she not have prepared in advance?

A smile played on her lips as a mist diffused around her, lending her face an air of mystery.

Within the black mist, the Corpsefinger Worm followed the senses of its fingers, moving slowly toward Seraphina Sinclair. But the fingers seemed to be having trouble finding their direction.

But Seraphina Sinclair cleared her throat and spoke up. "All who come are guests, so as the host, it’s my duty to offer you a little something to eat. And since you like fire, then these runes are all for you!"

The moment the words left her mouth, she used both hands to instantly rip apart seven or eight runes!

The flames from the Fire Drawing Runes combusted in the air, driving back some of the black mist that blotted out the sky.

With a flick of Seraphina Sinclair’s finger, the flames immediately swarmed toward the Corpsefinger Worm like sharks that had caught the scent of blood!

The searing fireballs slammed into the Corpsefinger Worm’s pale, slimy torso, creating a SIZZLING sound as an indescribable, scorched stench instantly filled the air.

Seraphina Sinclair frowned, waving a hand in front of her nose.

’It smells absolutely wretched.’

The worm’s massive body writhed violently. The ghastly white fingers beneath it slapped against the ground in a frenzy, creating a dense, grating SLAPPING sound that showed its pain and mania.

Clearly, fire was extremely effective against this creature of damp and shadow!

Its mouthpart snapped open, letting out a silent shriek. The fingers, which had been disoriented by the black mist, seemed to receive a command. They began to claw and scramble toward Seraphina Sinclair with even greater frenzy, their Speed actually increasing a notch!

’It’s not afraid of fire? Or... has the pain actually provoked its ferocity?’

Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow, unfazed.

’There’s still that other core weakness. Besides, the Single Lens described the weakness so simply. It has to be effective, right?’

Before the monster could charge at her, she switched positions. The moment she gripped her longsword, [Fog Concealment] activated automatically.

The enraged monster was like a cornered beast, craving the blood of this detestable human, yet it couldn’t find her!

Seraphina Sinclair quietly watched the monster burn, moving to a few different spots within the mobile cabin.

Other than the ichor from its burning body splattering everywhere, the monster no longer posed a threat to Seraphina Sinclair.

Besides, the floor refreshed daily. She was already prepared for it to be an absolute mess after today’s fight.

About a minute later, the black mist began to recede, and the monster’s life came to an end.

The flames on its body gradually died out. Its massive form collapsed like a melting candle and finally vanished into motes of light, leaving behind only a small puddle of charred black goo and an E-level Supply Box.

’Time to feed the Sunflower.’

The Sunflower, which had been listless, perked up the moment it noticed the tasty treat.

Its leaves swayed as it repeated over and over in its mind: "Little Person is the best... Little Person is the best..."

Seraphina Sinclair placed the goo in its flowerpot, her feelings still mixed.

There was no questioning the Sunflower’s cuteness, but every time Seraphina Sinclair heard its name for her, she felt like the little creature was insulting her.

’Between the two of them, the Sunflower was clearly the little one, wasn’t it?’

’And yet it kept calling her Little Person.’

Feeling a little irked, Seraphina Sinclair pinched one of the Sunflower’s leaves. She lowered her voice and asked, "Hey, little guy, who exactly is the ’Little Person’ here?"

The Sunflower paid no mind to what she was saying. "Yummy... yummy..."

Seraphina Sinclair: "..."

’Whatever. This isn’t the first time.’

She stood up and glanced at the Sunflower’s Growth Rate.

820/1000.

’Oh? Victory is in sight.’

’Done feeding the Sunflower. Time to open the box!’

Seraphina Sinclair rubbed her hands together, opening the E-level Supply Box with a sliver of anticipation.

[Obtained: Special Invitation Letter Fragment x1 (E-level), Common Combat Uniform x2 (E-level)!]

’A fragment of a special Invitation Letter?’

Seraphina Sinclair held the white fragment in her hand, examining it carefully. It was smooth to the touch, with irregular edges, and its material felt like a cross between wood and metal.

The fragment had faint markings on it, and in the item panel, its Description was followed by three question marks.

"Is this a collectible item?" Seraphina Sinclair mused. "Do I need to gather a certain number of them to find out what they’re for?"

She rubbed her finger over the fragment a few times before tucking it into her Silver Moon Earrings.

’I’ll find out when I ask the waiter tomorrow morning.’

As for the other item...

Clothes! And two whole sets, at that!

Seraphina Sinclair used Insight on the neatly folded top and pants.

[Common Combat Uniform (E-level)]

[Description: A basic model combat uniform made from a wear-resistant fiber blend, possessing a certain degree of protective performance. Its style is simple and efficient, allowing for ease of movement. It has a built-in temperature regulation system that can adapt to cold or hot environments to some extent. Although its defensive power is limited, it’s at least much sturdier than ordinary clothing and comes with a self-cleaning function.]

"Finally, some proper clothes to change into!"

Seraphina Sinclair’s eyes lit up. She was still wearing the under-layer from her Protective Clothing.

With no other clothes to change into, Seraphina Sinclair had spent the last few days in either her pajamas or the same outfit. These two sets of clothes had arrived at the perfect time!

She immediately picked up one set. The fabric felt durable and slightly elastic to the touch, a clear improvement over what she was currently wearing.

She quickly went to the restroom to change into one of the sets and stretched her arms and legs. It was a perfect fit, not restricting her movements in the slightest.

"Nice. This is much more comfortable."

Seraphina Sinclair nodded in satisfaction, storing the spare combat uniform in her Silver Moon Earrings.

She infused sunshine into the door card and continued onward!

Over the next several black mist incursions, the monsters she encountered ranged from F-level to E-level; not a single E+ monster appeared.

But the Supply Boxes didn’t yield anything good, either.

The rewards matched the risks.

Although Seraphina Sinclair found it odd, this godforsaken place seemed to strictly adhere to that principle, and there was nothing she could do about it.

She traveled for a full four hours in the morning, had lunch, drank an Energy Potion, and then continued on. It wasn’t raining, so there was no need to waste time waiting for bad weather to pass, making her progress highly efficient.

From afternoon until eight o’clock at night, Seraphina Sinclair not only used up all her previously saved sunshine but also all three hundred of today’s sunshine.

It seemed incredible, but with twelve hours of daylight in a day, Seraphina Sinclair had well and truly traveled for ten of them.
