Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 157: It Doesn’t Matter Who Comes
Chapter 157: Chapter 157: It Doesn’t Matter Who Comes
Seraphina Sinclair had no psychological barrier against killing.
When you’ve hovered between life and death, you realize there’s not much difference between people and those monsters.
In this world, being soft-hearted or hesitant was a cruelty to oneself. Since her opponent had chosen to provoke her, he had to be prepared to pay the price.
A brilliant light enveloped her again.
In the blink of an eye, she was back in her mobile cabin, as if the brief, bloody interlude had never happened.
Only the faint, lingering scent of blood on her, and...
A pile of supplies that appeared with a CLATTER on the floor in front of her proved that it had all been real.
There wasn’t much: a few pieces of hard bread, some basic materials, a couple of E-level Crystals, that rusty machete, some clothes, and a... brand-new Arena Certificate.
This was the entirety of "Knows Nothing’s" supplies.
’I don’t know how he ended up in such a sorry state, but he definitely wasn’t in the top thirty of this Zone anymore, was he?’
Seraphina Sinclair bent down, picked up the new Arena Certificate, and tucked it into her Silver Moon Earrings.
She sorted and stored the other somewhat useful supplies by type.
As for the useless junk, Seraphina Sinclair kicked it right out the wooden door of her mobile cabin.
The moment she returned, the Zone Channel had already gone completely insane.
Countless messages spammed the screen, nearly all of them just exclamation points and "Holy shit!"
"It’s... it’s over?! How long was that?!"
"Did anyone time it? I feel like it was less than a minute!"
"An insta-kill?! It was really an insta-kill!"
"Master Blacktiger is a badass! (voice crack)"
"@Knows Nothing... gone? Really gone..."
"Duh, the system already announced the winner, how could it be fake? His supplies are all gone, right?"
"Terrifying... Is this the power of the number one player?"
"From now on, anyone who dares to provoke Master Blacktiger... should first consider if they can even break into the top thirty..."
"Master, are you looking for a freeloader? The kind that just eats and sleeps!"
Seraphina Sinclair glanced at the buzzing Zone Channel but didn’t say a word.
’The goal of establishing my dominance has been achieved.’
’I believe that for a short while, there won’t be a second "Knows Nothing" popping up to court death.’
’As for the distant future... whoever comes, it’ll be the same.’
The Sunflower didn’t know what Seraphina Sinclair had just been doing; it just gave its customary welcome to the little person who had left and returned. Its method of welcome wasn’t very sophisticated. In its mind, the gesture was grand, but in reality, it just meant wiggling its leaves a bit.
If Seraphina Sinclair couldn’t hear its thoughts, she would never in a million years have guessed that wiggling its leaves meant that.
She chuckled softly, leaned in to pinch the Sunflower’s disk, and only moved away after it expressed its disdain.
’What was I doing just now? Oh, right, still eating.’
Seraphina Sinclair remained at ease, enjoying the leisurely time while waiting for the Sunflower to spit out sunshine.
After the Sunflower produced the sunshine, Seraphina Sinclair finally began to move.
She continued to inject sunshine into the Cabin Card, one hundred units at a time.
It turned out that her cautious approach, despite the hassle, was absolutely effective.
After the first move was complete, the compass needle swung dramatically! Which meant she could go fishing again!
’I haven’t even finished the fish from last time, but who would turn down more attribute points?’
Seraphina Sinclair checked her panel again. The sashimi she ate yesterday had provided just enough experience to level up her Constitution. As a result, her Constitution had increased by another point.
’At this rate, my Constitution will definitely catch up to the other two Attributes.’
Seraphina Sinclair injected 100 sunshine into the compass and began the 20-minute wait.
However, unlike before when waiting meant being ready for battle at any moment, she could now relax. A sky lake was just a lake; no monsters would appear. Besides...
’This environment is severely lacking in water. No matter how special a sky lake is, it’s still water.’
’It might be a bit anti-gravity, but if I use a container to collect the water directly, I should be able to use it, right?’
’I haven’t seen the sky lake yet, so I can only speculate for now.’
Seraphina Sinclair opened the Zone Channel to enjoy a bit of what you’d call "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."
In the announcement section on the side, the arena information was constantly updating. Seraphina Sinclair even saw a familiar name—Pretty Guardian.
Someone had challenged her to an arena battle.
But Seraphina Sinclair wasn’t the least bit surprised that she had been challenged.
The woman had a venomous tongue and couldn’t take the slightest offense. She’d caused a scene in the Zone Channel several times over trades; it was safe to say plenty of people held a grudge against her.
Plus, she knew about Solar Flame Powder, so she probably had some kind of Skill herself.
’It’s just that her opponent was definitely in for a world of hurt.’
’This fight-to-the-death system arrangement is actually pretty good. Everyone can use all their tricks because someone is guaranteed to die. If you die, there’s no point in hiding your secret techniques, and if the other person dies...’
’...that’s even better. No one keeps a secret better than a dead man.’
Seraphina Sinclair had only been musing for a moment when Pretty Guardian’s battle ended.
The winner, naturally, was Pretty Guardian, but...
It seemed she had gotten herself into new trouble.
[Leo Lowell]: Pretty Guardian! You f**king wait! You actually dared to kill my brother! Just you wait, I won’t let you get away with this!
The channel instantly exploded.
"Holy shit! There’s a sequel?"
"Leo Lowell? Why is it him? He’s fought fifteen arena battles and won them all! Donovan Lowell was his brother? Wait, what am I saying, it’s obvious from their names!"
"It’s over, it’s over. Pretty Guardian has picked a fight with a tough one."
"Looks like we’ve got a good show to watch. Things are getting more and more exciting."
Pretty Guardian immediately jumped in, her words as sharp as ever.
[Pretty Guardian]: So what if I killed your brother? He used the Arena Certificate himself. Are you salty because he was less skilled? You think you own the arena? You’re allowed to kill people, but no one is allowed to kill you in return? What a bunch of idiots!
[Leo Lowell]: Shut the fuck up, you bitch! Just wait! I’ll send you to join my brother right now!
[Pretty Guardian]: Ooh, did I touch a nerve? You useless punk. Anyone can talk tough. Your brother said the same thing a minute ago, and where is he now? His supplies were pathetic, he didn’t even have a single decent item. And with that, he dared to try and strong-arm people into trades? Don’t make me laugh!
Seeing this, Seraphina Sinclair understood what was going on.
She was just a spectator, but one of the main characters in this drama just happened to be Pretty Guardian.
Normally, this wouldn’t matter. Seraphina Sinclair and Pretty Guardian certainly weren’t friends; she wasn’t even as familiar with her as she was with Miller and Rook.
But Seraphina Sinclair had a good memory.
During the first week, the woman had given her an Unknown Seed for free. If it weren’t for that seed, Seraphina Sinclair would never have learned rune making.
Although later, during the trade for the Expansion Crystal, as far as Pretty Guardian was concerned, Seraphina Sinclair had already repaid the favor.
’But Seraphina Sinclair knew clearly that the Expansion Crystal trade was just that—a fair trade.’
’Strictly speaking, she was definitely indebted to Pretty Guardian.’
