Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 140: Moonlight Jellyfish
Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Moonlight Jellyfish
Simply put, she had to get up close and strike when it least expected.
But that’s how things often are—the simpler it sounds, the harder it is to do.
Seraphina Sinclair not only had to focus all her energy but also instantly decide her next move.
If she landed too far, she would return to the restroom. If she was close, she had to attack the monster immediately!
The biggest problem was that she had no control over where she landed.
About an hour later, Seraphina Sinclair teleported into the mobile cabin again.
The moment her vision shifted, a damp, putrid stench assaulted her. At the same time, a grayish-white wall of flesh, covered in slime and grotesque eyeballs, filled her sight...
Success!
The landing spot was perfect this time—almost right up against the Hundred-Eyed Rotfiend’s flank!
"ROAR?!"
The monster clearly hadn’t expected its prey to suddenly appear so close. The dozens of eyes on its body instinctively swiveled toward Seraphina Sinclair, their pupils reflecting her cold, resolute face and the long blade she held, poised to strike!
All of Seraphina Sinclair’s Strength erupted in that instant! Her long blade became a silver flash, stabbing with pinpoint precision toward the nearest and largest of the ghastly white eyeballs!
That was its greatest weakness—exactly as her Insight had described!
SQUELCH!
The blade sank in without resistance, all the way to the hilt.
A viscous, stinking, transparent fluid mixed with flecks of black blood burst forth!
"AAAAAGH!!"
An indescribably shrill shriek nearly burst Seraphina Sinclair’s eardrums. The Hundred-Eyed Rotfiend’s massive body convulsed violently, the unspeakable agony driving it completely mad.
At the very same moment the blade struck, the monster’s intact, giant, bony limb, acting on pure instinct, swung with devastating force toward Seraphina, who was still pressed up against it!
She had no time to think. She only managed to release the long blade, recalling it into her music earring, then crossed her arms to shield her chest while desperately trying to teleport back to the restroom.
’The monster’s making its final, desperate attack, and this is it! If I can just dodge this, it’ll be a sitting duck!’
A system prompt appeared.
[Too close to monster. Cannot enter the restroom! Please try again in a safe environment.]
Seraphina Sinclair: "!!!"
Her mind froze. Before she could even process what was happening, her body was already scrambling backward on pure instinct.
But she was too close!
BANG!
An irresistible, immense force slammed into her crossed arms and torso!
CRACK.
The distinct sound of bone snapping echoed as excruciating pain instantly flooded her entire body.
Seraphina Sinclair felt as if she’d been hit head-on by a speeding train. She was sent flying backward like a kite with its string cut, blood spewing from her mouth.
If she had a chance to give a speech right now, she would have undoubtedly said, ’How is this any different from winning the lottery?’
But this blow certainly sent her far enough away.
Seraphina Sinclair’s vision blurred instantly, and her ears began to ring. In the final second before consciousness faded completely to black, she used her last ounce of strength and willpower to rasp, "Go back."
Her figure vanished in a flash, and she crashed heavily onto the cold floor of the restroom.
"Cough... cough cough..."
Seraphina Sinclair lay curled up on the floor, coughing violently. Each cough sent a searing pain through her chest and brought up more blood.
Her left arm was bent at an unnatural angle, clearly broken. A searing pain burned across her torso, feeling as though her internal organs had been shifted out of place.
Her body was in agony, but a fire of both excitement and fury burned within Seraphina Sinclair.
She was happy because the monster had little fight left in it. She was furious at the damn system! ’You can’t even enter the restroom if you’re too close to a monster?!’
’And that rule wasn’t written anywhere! It only prompts you after a survivor has already triggered the condition. It’s definitely not looking out for us.’
But on second thought, it was actually logical. ’Without this restriction, any survivor who had a restroom could just enter it a second before danger struck.’
’Attacks would always be one step behind such a survivor.’
’From a certain perspective, wouldn’t that be a form of invincibility?’
Seraphina Sinclair shook herself out of her thoughts. ’First, healing...’
She took out a brand-new Medical Bag and forced herself to open it despite the pain.
The cold anesthetic spray quickly coated her, temporarily suppressing the pain that was intense enough to make a person faint.
The mechanical arm and repair fluid, glowing with a milky-white light, once again began their efficient work, repairing her injuries.
The process was as miraculous as ever, but the pain hadn’t vanished completely. The numb itchiness and slight stinging sensation from her bones knitting back together were particularly clear.
Just as she was feeling this, the panel before her suddenly updated:
[Healing failed! Insufficient treatment materials!]
’Insufficient materials? But this was a brand new Medical Bag!’
’This just goes to show how serious my injuries were...’
Seraphina Sinclair sucked in a sharp breath and took out another Medical Bag.
The healing was only officially complete after the second Medical Bag’s contents dropped to 35.
Seraphina Sinclair got to her feet, stretched a bit, and even did a couple of hops. Only when she felt that her body was fine did she breathe a sigh of relief.
’Thank goodness I had Medical Bags. If not for them, I would’ve been a goner today.’
Seraphina Sinclair quickly shook her head, pushing the grim thoughts away.
With a slight smile on her lips, she drew her long blade again, looking the very picture of a spirited and dashing warrior!
’Next, it’s my turn to claim the fruits of victory!’
Seraphina Sinclair stepped back into the mobile cabin.
As she had expected, the Hundred-Eyed Rotfiend was in terrible shape.
Its massive body lay collapsed on the ground, twitching violently. The core eyeball she had stabbed had become a gaping hole, continuously oozing thick black blood. Most of the surrounding eyes were dim and lifeless.
’It’s completely defenseless now.’
Seraphina Sinclair gazed at the monster that had kept her at a stalemate for nearly two hours. A genuine smile touched her lips as she raised her long blade high.
’This is the end!’
The instant the Hundred-Eyed Rotfiend’s corpse dissolved into motes of light, a D-level Supply Box appeared on the floor.
At the same time, a panel suddenly appeared before Seraphina Sinclair.
[You have successfully slain a powerful monster! The tentacles of the Moonlight Jellyfish swarm sway gently, having watched you silently from within the gloomy black fog. You have cleared the most dangerous obstacle from their migration path. The entire sea, once shrouded in black fog, seems to have brightened. In gratitude for your help, the Moonlight Jellyfish swarm bestows upon you their gift!]
[Obtained: Moonlight Jellyfish’s Blessing x1, Moonlight Jellyfish’s Holy Tree x1!]
’Moonlight Jellyfish? What are those?’
’Still, the name doesn’t sound like a monster’s.’
As she thought, Seraphina’s gaze fell upon the two items. One was a small orb of light. The other, just as its name suggested, was a lush, verdant tree, floating in the air and wreathed in an ethereal mist.
Seraphina glanced at the tree, then reached for the small orb of light first.
The instant she touched it, the system abruptly began a server-wide announcement.
[Congratulations to the survivor "Blacktiger Ford" for successfully slaying a D-level threat! Your valor has not only cleared the greatest obstacle from the Moonlight Jellyfish swarm’s migration path but has also earned their profound gratitude and gifts.]
[The trial of the Moonlight Jellyfish migration is now successfully concluded!]
[Monster strength within the area has returned to normal! After the arduous battle, a dreamlike reward awaits you!]
[Tonight at nine o’clock, the Moonlight Jellyfish swarm will commence their mass migration in the waters! When the time comes, Moonlight will flow like a river and the stars will seem to fall into the sea. All survivors, do not miss this wondrous spectacle!]
