Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Villain Sues First

’Isn’t this basically a natural flashlight?’

Seraphina Sinclair had a flash of inspiration. Using some cloth and Metal Fragments, she fashioned a simple lanyard and hung the fish bladder around her neck.

The faint blue glow was just enough to illuminate a one-meter radius around her, making it look as if she herself were glowing.

Holding the fish bladder, Seraphina Sinclair suddenly grew curious. ’Could this thing light up the black fog?’

During the second move yesterday, she had tried using a fluorescent lamp.

But not only did the lamp fail to penetrate the black fog, it actually made the fog’s shape more distinct and seem even thicker.

After dealing with the large black fish, Seraphina Sinclair scanned the mobile house again. Once she confirmed no new Supply Boxes had appeared this time, she returned to the bedside to check her haul from the move.

An F-level chest yielded two pieces of bread and five bottles of mineral water.

Her luck was pretty good.

Seraphina Sinclair finally had a chance to examine the bread that had been so heavily criticized in the Zone channel.

The bread looked extremely coarse. Its surface was an uneven, burnt yellow, as if the baking temperature hadn’t been controlled properly. Some spots were even blackened.

Furthermore, it had no individual packaging; it was just a piece of bread placed directly inside the Supply Box.

Seraphina Sinclair was already feeling disgusted. Leaning in for a sniff, she caught a faint smell of mold and a sour odor, as if it had been stored for a very long time.

’That’s enough.’

Seraphina Sinclair silently put the bread down. ’Maybe I can use it as a hammer in the future.’

’I’ll keep it.’

Next up was the E-level Supply Box!

Seraphina Sinclair rubbed her hands together. ’Please let it be something good!’

She took a deep breath and threw open the lid of the Supply Box.

[Obtained: Small Iron Pot x1, Complete Bedding Set x1, Toilet Paper x1]

Seraphina Sinclair was a bit stunned. ’How did I get three household items?’

’So... should I make the bed first?’

She looked at the junk piled on her bed, then at the floor, which was soaked with black water.

’Come to think of it, the floor corroded by the centipede yesterday is completely repaired, but the marks left today are still here.’

Seraphina Sinclair guessed that the floor probably reset every day. Otherwise, this shabby little house would be completely wrecked after just a couple of days on the move.

Seraphina Sinclair decided not to make the bed just yet. She first went to check the composter and water filter, which had been soaked by the black water.

Because Sunflower had said it was "stinky," she was sure the smell wasn’t from the big black fish. That meant it had to be the black water.

After a careful inspection, Seraphina Sinclair finally relaxed.

’Excellent. Besides the surface of the base being a little damp, the equipment is perfectly fine!’

Seraphina Sinclair looked at her mobile house and fell silent for a moment. Now that she had bedding, she would definitely be sleeping in the bed tonight.

And with the floor soaked in black water, the bed was much safer anyway.

As for her supplies, she still needed to put them somewhere high up.

Seraphina Sinclair decided to build a platform out of Stone. She had Earth and Stone, so all she needed to do was get to work.

「An hour later.」

Seraphina Sinclair stared at the crooked stone platform before her and fell silent.

She had originally planned to use Stone and Earth to build a flat shelf, but she only realized after starting that it was much harder than she had imagined.

The varying sizes of the Stones were one problem, and the Earth not being sticky enough was another. The finished structure was wobbly. A slight push would cause half of it to collapse with a CRASH.

’It can’t bear any weight at all!’

Seraphina Sinclair’s heart sank. She was worried the structure was too loose to hold her supplies, and she also lamented the hour she had wasted.

Finally, after resting her head in her hands and thinking for a while, she just grabbed a few pieces of wood and managed to prop up the Stone platform.

After the Earth dried, Seraphina Sinclair pressed on it forcefully. It seemed stable enough to hold a few things now. She considered it a success.

Seraphina Sinclair placed all her supplies on the newly built platform and then made her bed. Seeing that the set even included a pillow, she couldn’t help but murmur, "This is so considerate. It really gave me everything."

’I don’t have to sleep on the floor tonight!’

When Seraphina Sinclair saw "Toilet Paper x1," she thought it was just a single roll or a small pack. But looking closer now, she realized it was a large package containing a full 12 smaller packs.

’That’s really practical.’

Seraphina Sinclair took out one pack, placed it in the bathroom, and then returned to examine the last item: the small iron pot.

The thing looked plain and simple, and after Seraphina Sinclair read its Description, she found that it was, indeed, plain and simple.

An ordinary pot. And it was just the pot—no bowls, chopsticks, or spatula.

Slightly disappointed, Seraphina Sinclair placed it on the stone platform as well. Just as she was wondering what to do next, she suddenly received a message notification.

Immediately after, notifications began to chime one after another in rapid succession.

Seraphina Sinclair frowned. ’With this going on... I’m not getting cyberbullied, am I?’

Seraphina Sinclair was amused by her own thought. ’This is a survival world. I’m not starving or thirsty. In fact, my quality of life is way ahead of other players, and I’ll even be eating meat for lunch today.’

’Most importantly, all I did was ask about charcoal in the Zone channel. How could I possibly...’

’Charcoal?’

Seraphina Sinclair’s brow furrowed. ’Don’t tell me that damned [DeadTired] said something?’

She opened her messages and saw that her guess was right.

[DeadTired] was spamming the Zone channel:

"Everyone, watch out for this person, [Blacktiger Ford]! He tricked me out of my charcoal and caused me a huge loss! People like him should be kicked out of the Zone!"

And there were even a few replies agreeing with him:

"Yeah, that’s right! Kick him out of the Zone! @Blacktiger Ford, get out!"

’These people are the most disgusting,’ she thought. ’Self-proclaimed Agents of Justice who don’t bother to distinguish right from wrong or ask what actually happened.’

"I can vouch for it! He was asking about activated charcoal in the Zone channel yesterday. He’s just a show-off asshole. Don’t trade with him, everyone. I can’t stand people like that."

’This kind of person is even more disgusting. He doesn’t care if the story is true or not; he’s just mad that you’re in the spotlight and wants to tear you down.’

No matter what Seraphina Sinclair said, people like this would always believe she was the one in the wrong.

Seraphina Sinclair scoffed, directly posting a screenshot of their chat history with the caption: "I’m sure everyone can see for themselves whose fault this is."

The onlookers had originally thought [DeadTired] was the victim. But now, seeing such a firm response from [Blacktiger Ford], they clicked on the image out of anger or curiosity to take a look.

As more and more people saw the actual conversation, the tide in the Zone channel immediately turned.

"@[DeadTired], dude, we thought you were a brother, but you’re just using us as your weapon?"

"@[DeadTired], are you out of your mind? I honestly think Blacktiger bro went too easy on you. He wasn’t wrong about you at all, and you still have the nerve to come here and complain? Hope you die soon, lol."

"@[DeadTired], and those few who were backing you up just now, where are you? Speak up! You got shit for brains or something? Believing whatever anyone says? I said from the start to post the chat logs, and when DeadTired wouldn’t do it, I knew something was up!"
