Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 119: Give a Kick
Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Give a Kick
’Another surprise attack?!’
Seraphina Sinclair subconsciously pulled out a rune. Before she could use it, she saw Magnus Barrett staring intently at the newly appeared entrance. It looked like he wanted to be the first one to run.
Seraphina Sinclair frowned. ’That guy’s Sunflower has been sitting by the door ever since we got here. Is he really going to abandon it now just to save his own skin?’
’Did he forget?’
Seraphina Sinclair raised an eyebrow slightly. ’If I hadn’t seen it, then that would be that.’
’But now that I have, how could I possibly let Magnus Barrett get what he wants?’
’Besides... how long can you survive in this godforsaken place without a Sunflower?’
’I’m not hurting him; I’m saving him!’
The moment the big guy stood up, Seraphina Sinclair carefully observed his path. Once she confirmed he was heading for the stairs, she held nothing back.
She closed the distance to Magnus Barrett in a few quick strides and delivered a vicious kick to his back!
Caught completely off guard, Magnus Barrett was shoved forward by the immense force from behind, stumbling toward the skeleton that had just stood up!
His face was a mask of terror, and a pathetic howl escaped his lips. But his center of gravity was off, and he couldn’t control his body, forced to watch as he got closer and closer to the monster.
He even nearly crashed into Milo Shaw along the way.
Milo Shaw didn’t know what was happening, but since the big guy was being so "brave" and "proactive" in facing the monster, he certainly wasn’t going to stand in his way.
The monster’s attention had been on Chloe Reed, but when it sensed a human approaching, it turned its gaze directly toward this human.
The monster likely had no memories from before it awakened, so it wouldn’t remember this human kicking it. It simply and impartially unleashed its attack.
The bone arm rose without mercy, intending to pierce through Magnus Barrett’s body, but due to the angle, its strike merely grazed the outside of his thigh.
The monster, having failed its first attack, was about to strike again, but Magnus Barrett had already regained his balance. His face was beet red as he raised his hands and desperately held back the monster’s arm!
The others watched this scene unfold. Seraphina Sinclair shook her head inwardly. ’What is that saying again? The wicked live long?’
’Guys like him are just lucky.’
Magnus Barrett had come to his senses. He roared, "Which one of you bastards dared to kick me?!! I was done dealing with you all, so what are you idiots staring at? Aren’t you going to help?"
The others subconsciously looked toward Seraphina Sinclair.
It was for no other reason than that she was the strongest among them. If anyone could deal with these monsters, it was probably her.
But...
’Help? Why would we help?’
’It’s not like there’s only one monster. Magnus Barrett is only holding back one of them. Can’t you see the others are heading over there too?’
’Besides, you were allowed to try and run, so why can’t we?’
’The door is wide open. If we don’t go through now, wouldn’t we be wasting the opportunity Magnus Barrett has given us?’
Seraphina Sinclair said nothing. She gently patted the Sunflower in her arms, which was constantly swaying as it surveyed its surroundings, to soothe it.
Then, she strode toward the entrance to the staircase.
Her pace was strange. It looked like a leisurely stroll, yet her Speed was surprisingly fast.
Seeing this, the others immediately followed.
’If not now, when?!’
They were just strangers who had met by chance. If they ran into real danger, could they really expect a stranger to risk their life to save them?
’In some shooter I played in my past life, even random teammates wouldn’t revive you, let alone in a situation where you could actually die!’
She glanced back. Magnus Barrett was still locked in a stalemate with the monster, and the other monsters, drawn to him, were converging on his position. He had truly given everyone else the perfect window to escape.
It was worth noting that Magnus Barrett was also looking at her, his eyes filled with rage, fear, and a deep-seated hatred.
’So what?’
Seraphina Sinclair raised a hand and gave him a little wave. She even mouthed the words, "See you around."
The gesture was a soul-crushing blow!
Magnus Barrett was instantly consumed by rage, losing all basic reason. He suddenly let go and charged madly in Seraphina Sinclair’s direction.
But how could those monsters give him that chance?
A bone arm pierced his abdomen, then another, and another.
This bloody scene unfolded before everyone’s eyes, but it didn’t stir a shred of sympathy.
Chloe Reed swallowed nervously. He had reacted a bit too slowly and was now at the very back. With Magnus Barrett dead, he would be the monsters’ next target!
’How could I possibly have time to worry about what happens to Magnus Barrett?’
Right now, he wished the people in front of him would suddenly gain superpowers and just fly up the stairs!
But wishing for such impossible things was useless. However, something else happened that put him at ease.
Magnus Barrett only had time for one last, weak scream before he fell completely silent.
And after his body slumped to the ground, the monsters seemed to lose whatever power was holding them together, collapsing right where they stood into piles of bones.
The sound of bones clattering to the floor quickly drew everyone’s attention.
Hannah Morgan stared intently at the bones for a moment before saying, "They fell apart on their own."
"Why would that happen?"
Milo Shaw asked the question on everyone’s mind.
Hannah Morgan conjectured, "Maybe it’s because we’re not in that area anymore, and with Magnus Barrett dead, they don’t have a target."
’Is it because they have no target?’
Milo Shaw agreed with this theory, while Chloe Reed, still shaken, glanced back. It was that one glance that made him notice the two Sunflowers sitting by the entrance. He immediately called out, "Whose Sunflower was left behind?"
His voice was quiet, but in the current silence, it was clearly audible.
Seraphina Sinclair was holding her little one, as was Hannah Morgan. The person who asked was Chloe Reed, so...
The answer was obvious.
Milo Shaw smacked his forehead, groaning in frustration. "Damn it... I was in such a rush, I completely forgot my Sunflower! What do I do? Should I go back and get it?"
’What to do? What else can you do?’
’Not going back for it is practically a death sentence.’
The staircase could only fit one person at a time, but worried it would close after they entered the next area, Milo Shaw simply squeezed past Chloe Reed to swap places. He swallowed hard and cautiously took out the longbow hanging on his back. Even if it was probably useless, it offered him some comfort.
Seraphina Sinclair didn’t rush off. Instead, she quietly observed the situation.
If Hannah Morgan’s theory was correct, the moment Milo Shaw stepped into that area, the monsters would reassemble. This meant Milo Shaw was in absolute danger.
’To lose your life over a mistake like that...’
Seraphina Sinclair didn’t want to pass too much judgment. The importance of the Sunflower had been deeply ingrained in her mind from the very first day she entered this world.
