Survive in the Black Mist: My Sunflower Can Navigate
Chapter 111: Why Talk If You’re Not Selling?
Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Why Talk If You’re Not Selling?
As soon as Seraphina Sinclair took it, she felt the burning sensation the other party had described.
The item certainly matched RookSolosGruel’s description.
But as for how to actually use it, Seraphina Sinclair, just like RookSolosGruel, was completely clueless.
She frowned, and after a moment’s thought, decided to fix the thing first.
It was an E-level item, so an E-level repair toolbox should do the trick.
Seraphina Sinclair took the toolbox from her Silver Moon Earrings, selected the Sealed Broken Copper Mirror, and used it. She’d expected that would fix the item, but a notification popped up in front of her.
[Item status cannot be modified until the special seal is removed!]
Staring at the message, Seraphina Sinclair was silent for a moment. She finally understood the root cause of the item’s uselessness.
It wasn’t because it was broken, but because of this seal.
’Speaking of seals, though...’
Seraphina Sinclair opened the regional channel to look up some information, but closed the panel after finding nothing.
She guessed this might be a special profession... ’Oh, right, they call them Skills here.’
Just like her Rune-making Skill and the Potion Skill that Traveling Merchant 001 had mentioned, this world might also have a Sealing Skill.
Although Seraphina Sinclair didn’t know what these seals could do, for her right now, it was definitely an obstacle.
She sighed and put the copper mirror away for the time being.
Seraphina Sinclair had just put the item away when she received another message from Pretty Guardian. She hadn’t replied earlier, thinking the person had gotten the hint, but now she just received a follow-up question.
[Pretty Guardian]: Master Blacktiger, just tell me~ What are you collecting this stuff for?
The message had even been sent as a voice note.
Seraphina Sinclair didn’t bother listening and converted it directly to text, but just from the converted text and its punctuation, she could imagine the other girl’s tone.
If Seraphina Sinclair had merely been speechless before, now she was starting to find it strange.
It wasn’t that Seraphina Sinclair had never interacted with this person before. Based on their previous messages and their posts on the regional channel, she hadn’t seemed like this kind of...
Seraphina Sinclair looked up and thought for a moment but couldn’t find the right word.
The girl was a little too forward, even overstepping her boundaries.
They were just a buyer and a seller. Pestering her with a question like this...
Seraphina Sinclair was tempted to block her.
Seriously.
Before Seraphina Sinclair could respond, the other girl sent another message.
This time, it was text:
[Pretty Guardian]: Master? Are you there? Did I say something wrong?
[Pretty Guardian]: You need to take care of yourself too, Master! Don’t overwork yourself! Eat well and exercise every day! Do your best to stay alive!
The message was followed by a very cute emoticon.
Judging by the combination of symbols, the girl had definitely pieced it together herself using punctuation marks.
Huh?
’This is completely different from the cold attitude she had during our first trade!’
If Seraphina Sinclair didn’t know she was also a girl, she would have suspected the other person was trying to hit on her.
She stared at the message in silence for a moment, then asked, "What exactly are you trying to do?"
Perhaps sensing that her patience was running out, the other girl was especially frank this time.
[Pretty Guardian]: I just wanted to ask... what Master is planning to do with the Sun Powder.
’Wait.’
Seraphina Sinclair narrowed her eyes.
’In the message I posted on the regional channel, I only said I was looking for high-level materials related to the sun. How does she know it’s a powder?’
Seraphina Sinclair got straight to the point.
[Blacktiger Ford]: You have powder materials related to the sun?
When Pretty Guardian saw this message, she froze for a second, realizing she had let it slip.
She frowned her delicate brow in thought for a moment, then decided to come clean.
[Pretty Guardian]: This is what you’re looking for, right? Solar Flame Powder.
Seraphina Sinclair clicked to view the item’s description.
[Solar Flame Powder (E-level)]
[Description: A pale gold powder ground from condensed light collected from the edge of a blazing sun’s core or from a place of extreme Yang. It is warm to the touch and contains immense, pure solar energy. Can be used in certain special crafting processes and is an excellent medium for channeling and bearing the Sun’s Power.]
’That’s it. The description is very similar to Moonlight Powder and Black Scale Powder! This is it!’
She’d found the item, but Seraphina Sinclair wasn’t exactly happy about it.
’So The Lucky King really did have it? Where did she get it?’
Seraphina Sinclair was silent for a moment, then she finally figured it out.
’The girl has this item, but she didn’t offer to sell it directly. That means she knows what it’s used for.’
’She might even... need to use it herself.’
’I need it for my rune painting, so... what does she need it for?’
’No wonder she kept asking what I wanted this stuff for. Now that I know she uses this powder too, I’m curious what she’s using it for.’
’However... I have sold rune paper on the regional channel before.’
’She probably didn’t think that this stuff could be mixed into liquid and used for rune painting, right?’
Seraphina Sinclair shook her head, pushing these thoughts from her mind.
[Blacktiger Ford]: Selling?
Even though she was curious about Pretty Guardian’s Skill, she asked the question that mattered most to her right now, without a hint of small talk.
’There aren’t many people left who can stay this focused on their goals.’
Pretty Guardian saw the message and thought for a full minute but couldn’t come to a decision.
The reason was simple. The powder had been a gift from a Traveling Merchant, and she’d already used a fair amount of it. She was just curious about Blacktiger Ford’s special Skill, but she really didn’t want to sell the powder.
And so, Seraphina Sinclair saw a very simple refusal.
[Pretty Guardian]: Not for sale.
’If you’re not selling, then what are you even talking to me for?’
Seraphina Sinclair grumbled to herself and simply closed the private chat window.
After a while, Pretty Guardian realized she probably wasn’t going to get a reply.
’The other person is rank one and never wastes words. Her time is precious; of course she wouldn’t waste it on idle chat.’
But Pretty Guardian had finally found a "kindred spirit," how could she bear to end the conversation just like that?
’But I really can’t sell the stuff.’
Pretty Guardian stared at the chat interface, her fingertips unconsciously tapping her knee.
The screen dimmed and lit up again, reflecting her slightly vexed face.
"Sigh, are all the top-rankers this cool?" she muttered to herself, scratching her hair.
She didn’t have much Solar Flame Powder. She’d already used some up experimenting with Potions, and since the Potions hadn’t been successful yet, the remaining powder was even more precious.
She had only wanted to subtly probe for Blacktiger Ford’s purpose, but she’d ended up revealing her own hand first.
"Whatever," she said, shaking her head and putting the matter out of her mind. "I’m not selling it anyway."
