He sat down at the long table, picked up his chopsticks, and put a piece of fish into his mouth.

The fish melts in your mouth, and the icy sauce melts on your tongue, carrying a very faint, cool fragrance. The sweetness of the fish slowly emerges after the cool fragrance, which is truly amazing.

He then tried several other dishes.

Celiss briefly introduced the dish from the side, describing the ingredients, cooking method, and flavor. She didn't say much, but every sentence was just right.

Lin Feng nodded, tasted all the dishes, put down his chopsticks and stood up: "If you don't mind, you can eat these."

Mia's cat ears perked up instantly, and her tail held high: "Really, Lord? Then we won't stand on ceremony!"

Seris bowed slightly: "Thank you, Lord."

Lin Feng turned to go back upstairs when Mia's voice came from behind him again: "Lord... could you please try a little bit of everything you eat?"

He stopped and turned around.

When Mia saw him turn around, she quickly continued, "Look, if you eat this every meal, Celis and I can legitimately go to the logistics department to get ingredients."

Otherwise, they'd only give you so little each day, and they'd interrogate you for ages, like they were interrogating a criminal.

She curled her lip, her tail unconsciously flicking. "Those Nightmare Clan members in charge of logistics are so arrogant, giving them anything is like handing out charity."

Besides, you are the highest commander of the Eastern Defense Zone. If the commander-in-chief doesn't eat three meals a day, the logistics department will have a reason to cut rations.

If you eat this at every meal, they'll have to prepare it to the highest standard.

Lin Feng looked at her and asked, "Judging from what you're saying, you don't have a very good impression of the Nightmare Clan?"

Mia's tail tip stiffened at first, her cat ears drooped down, and she didn't immediately respond as usual.

She bent down and rubbed the corner of her apron a couple of times before speaking, her voice lower than usual: "Of course it's not good. I was sold to the Nightmare Clan by the original lord when I was a child."

Among the cat-people, someone like me, with no fighting talent, would just be a freeloader if raised; I could sell me for something else.

"As for the Nightmare Clan..."

She stopped there, not saying anything more, but the expression on her round face said it all.

Celiss, who was usually calm, showed a slight change in expression, but quickly returned to normal.

Lin Feng glanced at the two women.

In his perception, the two were indeed sincere.

Am I really overthinking things?

He withdrew his gaze and said calmly, "Then just say that I eat three meals a day."

Mia's cat ears perked up again, her tail curled up, and her eyes crinkled into crescents as she smiled: "Alright! Don't worry, Lord, I'll make sure the logistics are completely taken care of! I guarantee there won't be a repetition of any meal!"

The next three days passed peacefully and regularly.

Every morning, Mia would first go to the logistics department to collect the ingredients, and then come back to cook with Celis.

Lin Feng went downstairs and tasted a few bites, and the two women shared the rest of the food.

Mia would pull out different things from the logistics ice cellar every day; one day it was perch, the next day it was shrimp, and the day after that it was a few frozen mushrooms.

Every time she came back, she would excitedly recount how she had outwitted the logistics manager that day, as if it wasn't about collecting ingredients, but about winning a major battle.

Every time a dish was served, she would stare at Lin Feng with bright eyes, and as soon as he nodded, her tail would wag uncontrollably, impossible to hide.

Celiss remained quietly by the side, preparing and tidying up, occasionally adding a word or two about the origin of the ingredients, her tone as flat as if she were reciting the names of the dishes.

There were no abnormalities.

...

Early on the fourth day.

Mia went to the logistics department to collect ingredients as usual. She walked down an alley, still thinking about what to get today.

How about trying ice claw bear paw today? No, that's too hard, Lord might not like it.

Frostwing breast meat? That's tender, but the logistics guys will definitely make things difficult for us...

As she was thinking, she suddenly stopped in her tracks.

The cat's ears stood straight up, and its tail froze in mid-air.

A man in a black robe was standing at the entrance of the alley, his face obscured by a hood.

A faint purple ripple spread from the black-robed figure, and Mia's vertical pupils instantly lost focus, her eyes becoming empty.

"What has Lin Feng done all this time?" The man in black robes asked in a low voice, devoid of any emotion.

Mia's lips moved silently, speaking faster than usual: "The lord comes down to eat a little bit of breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day, but not much."

He spent most of his time on the second floor, occasionally going to the study, but he didn't read many of the books there.

He stood on the terrace for half an hour yesterday, doing nothing.

He hadn't seen anyone, nor received any letters. He went to bed early every night and didn't exhibit any unusual behavior..."

The man in black asked several questions, which Mia answered one by one, in great detail.

A moment later, the man in black turned and left, disappearing into the shadows of the alley.

Mia jolted awake, looked around, and scratched her head.

"Huh? Why did I stop thinking?"

She flicked her tail, her cat ears twitched again, and her carefree smile returned to her face.

"Never mind, I'm going to get Frostwing Bird breast meat today! The lord will definitely praise me if he eats it!"

She continued running towards the logistics department, her wooden clogs making a light, clattering sound as they stepped on the frozen stone slabs.
