At the foot of Frost Abyss City lies the largest Crimson Snow Mine in the Central Region.

This vein is about 220 kilometers long from east to west and about 190 kilometers wide from north to south, extending more than 50 kilometers downwards from the surface.

The mining area is divided into four defense zones: east, south, west, and north. Each defense zone is an independent defensive stronghold, with the front line extending outward for hundreds of kilometers, firmly protecting the entire mine vein in its heartland.

Inner city, in front of the portal.

Vera stood at the edge of the portal, her long, silver-white hair reaching her waist, with a strand of hair tied up on each side of her forehead by a thin, dark purple ring.

Her fingertips unconsciously traced the dark patterns on her cuffs, her brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of impatience flickered in her dark purple vertical pupils.

"Didn't Lin Feng say he'd be here soon? Why isn't he here yet?"

Her tone was calm, yet carried an undeniable coldness: "If the Viscount hadn't specifically instructed me, would I be waiting for him here?"

A Nightmare Apostle stood beside him with his hands at his sides, his face expressionless.

He was used to this kind of thing; Lady Vera had never hidden her malice towards other races behind the scenes.

Orcs are "beasts who only know how to use brute force," undead are "dead trash who are still restless," and humans are "useless people who are not even sturdy enough to be slaves."

But in front of others, she acts more convincingly than anyone else.

The apostle snapped out of his thoughts and respectfully replied, "Lord Lin did indeed send a message saying he would arrive within half an hour, and by that calculation, it's not time yet."

Vera turned her head, her gaze falling on him, her vertical pupils narrowing slightly: "That Lin Feng, really held off more than thirty apostles of the Demonic Sect all by himself? For half an hour? Is the news definitely not exaggerated?"

“The news is true.” The apostle carefully considered his words. “However... it seems that they only managed to hold on by using a hero’s skill.”

Vera was silent for a moment, then stopped what she was doing.

"I've used all my hero skills, so it's just so-so." Her tone was flat, revealing no emotion.

"But it's still a bit better than Groom."

As if suddenly remembering something, she casually asked, "Has Groom been behaving himself lately?"

The apostle paused for a moment, then said in a low voice, "Last time, the southern defense zone suffered heavy losses of orcs. Grum was furious and accused Lord Kazir of using orcs as cannon fodder, saying that if it happened again, he would personally go and demand an explanation."

Later, Lady Vera persuaded Lord Kazir to tone it down, and Groom didn't cause any further trouble.

Vera's lips curled into a very faint smile, her tone nonchalant: "If I weren't the commander-in-chief, I wouldn't bother with this."

My idea is to use the orcs as bait. So be it; the lives of other races are worthless anyway. We can just hunt them down again if they die.”

The apostle said with a forced smile, "Lady Vera, you've put yourself in a difficult position by considering the bigger picture."

Just then, the portal began to respond.

The dark purple light curtain surged and the light patterns spun rapidly.

Vera and the apostle simultaneously composed themselves and put on perfectly timed smiles.

Lin Feng's figure stepped out from the light screen.

Vera stepped forward, her smile impeccable and her tone gentle: "Lord Lin, welcome. I am Vera Eternal Night, the Commander-in-Chief of Frost Abyss City."

Lin Feng looked at the Nightmare Clan woman in front of him, who had a smile on her face.

Her smile was just right, and her tone was impeccable, but Lin Feng just felt that something was off.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just instinctively felt that something was wrong.

But as the saying goes, you can't hit someone who's smiling at you.

He remained expressionless and returned the greeting with a cupped hand: "I have long admired you. As the commander-in-chief of the front lines, it is truly kind of you, Lord Vera, to take time out of your busy schedule to come in person."

"Not at all, not at all. I've long heard that Lord Lin single-handedly defeated thirty-five apostles of the Demonic Sect. I've wanted to get to know Lord Lin for a long time."

Vera's smile remained unchanged. "With your addition, Frost Abyss City's defenses should be even more solid."

Lin Feng cupped his hands slightly: "Lord Vera is too kind to me. Without the support of Cold Moon City, I couldn't have held on by myself."

He changed his tone, as if mentioning it casually: "However, since Lord Vera has brought up the defense of Frost Abyss City, I would also like to ask, what specific arrangements have been made for me during your visit to the Central Region?"

Vera's smile remained unchanged: "Lord Lin's appointment has been made. He will succeed Grum as the supreme commander of the Eastern Defense Zone, and will be fully responsible for the war east of Frost Abyss City."

Lin Feng's eyebrows twitched slightly: "I'm replacing Groom? What are Lord Groom's plans?"

“It’s not exactly a secret,” Vera said casually. “Grum has been transferred to the outer battlefield by the Viscount. Lord Lin should go and hand over the reins to him as soon as possible.”

After she finished speaking, she seemed to suddenly remember something and smiled apologetically: "Lord Lin, please forgive me. An urgent report just came from the northern front. I have to go back to deal with it, so I won't be able to accompany you to the eastern defense zone."

"I can go by myself, there's no need to trouble Lord Vera," Lin Feng said, cupping his hands in greeting.

Vera hummed in agreement and turned to leave with the apostle.

Her long, silvery-white hair swayed gently in the wind and snow, and her figure quickly disappeared into the snow curtain in the direction of the teleportation portal.

Lin Feng stood there, watching the figure walk away, before the polite smile on his face slowly faded.

Send him to take over Groom's defense zone, while Groom is transferred to the outer battlefield? Viscount Eternal Night knew that the humans and orcs were allies, yet he still made this arrangement.

What else could this be but provocation? However, this little trick won't shake the alliance between the two races; it's just annoyance.

He didn't linger; he took to the air and flew towards the central city, the command center of the eastern defense zone.

Let's go see Groom first.
