Survival of the Nation: I Can Specify the Items That Will Drop
Chapter 604: High-Dimensional Battlefield
Nightshade ignored him. Just then, a grandmaster rushed up from below, his face pale. He barely managed to steady himself when he got close to the four of them, and his voice was trembling.
"Reporting to all the Supreme Elders, we have received a message from the other side, saying that we should relinquish the core of the plane. Once they obtain the shattered heart of the plane, this plane war will come to an end."
Before he could finish speaking...
"That's utter bullshit!"
Li Zhan's face flushed red instantly, and the veins on his forehead throbbed.
He took a sudden step forward, and the void beneath his feet seemed to tremble.
"We've always been the ones forcing others to relinquish their core; no one has ever dared to ask the Blood Abyss Sect to give up its dimensional core!"
"If word gets out, how will I ever be able to hold my head high in the Demonic Sect again!"
He grabbed the master by the collar and lifted him up.
"The Heart of a Shattered Dimension? Dream on!"
The grandmaster was lifted into the air, his face ashen. He instinctively grabbed Li Zhan's wrists, but he couldn't budge them an inch.
Li Zhan's scars twisted with rage, like a living creature writhing on his face.
"Fine! Let that Lin guy come himself! Let's see if his gun is tougher, or my fist!"
He flung the grandmaster away.
The master staggered back several steps, nearly falling from the air. He barely managed to regain his balance, his face even paler than before.
He lowered his head, his whole body trembling slightly, and he didn't even dare to breathe.
Nightshade remained silent, gazing thoughtfully at the distant camp.
Zanghua chuckled softly, her eyes sweeping over Yeying: "Senior Brother Yeying, you wouldn't really want to surrender, would you? Give up the core of the plane? The sect leader won't agree to that."
After all, there's always that one percent chance that the complete Core of the Plane might fall out, and then... everyone would die.
Nightshade said calmly, "When the main sect can't gather enough manpower, you, me, and the sect leader will all be transferred to higher-level battlefields, where there's almost certain death."
Upon hearing the words "a higher-level battlefield," all three men's expressions darkened.
The smile on Li Zhan's lips disappeared, and Zang Hua's fingers, which were twirling the ends of her hair, stopped.
Even in Chongshan's usually calm and collected eyes, a deep shadow of gloom flashed across his face.
They certainly knew how terrifying that place was; it was a high-dimensional battlefield where even grandmaster-level experts were merely cannon fodder.
Going there means death; the only difference is whether you die quickly or slowly.
A moment of silence fell between the four of them.
Night Shadow was the first to break the silence.
"It hasn't come to that yet."
He turned to the grandmaster, whose legs were already trembling with fear, and his voice returned to its usual calm, "Tell them that if they want to break through the Heart of the Plane, they should first break through here."
The grandmaster felt as if he had been granted a pardon and readily agreed. He then turned and fled down the city wall, moving as fast as if he feared that if he lingered even a moment longer, he would be used as a punching bag.
Li Zhan watched the grandmaster fly away and snorted, "What a spineless coward."
Zanghua didn't speak, but only glanced at Yeying sideways, her eyes filled with a complex light.
Nightshade didn't look at them again.
He simply looked again at the beacon tower camp, which was faintly visible in the morning mist, twenty miles away.
A chill, which he himself was unaware of, slowly rose in his light gray pupils.
...
The beacon fires illuminate the main camp, the central tent.
Inside the tent, all the core members of the Beacon Fire Territory had arrived.
Lin Feng sat in the chair in the center, holding a cup of tea in his hand, and slowly took a sip.
The curtain was lifted, and Meng strode in.
He knelt on one knee, clasped his hands in a fist salute, and reported, "Reporting to the Lord, a message has arrived from the Blood Abyss Demon Sect."
All eyes inside the tent turned to look at them.
Lin Feng raised his eyelids slightly: "Speak."
Meng Yi said in a deep voice, "They said that if we want the Heart of the Plane, we must first break through Blood Nest Number One."
There was a moment of silence inside the tent.
Zhao Hu snorted coldly and leaned back in his chair: "These bastards, they really don't know what's good for them. We were willing to send people to talk, which was giving them a way out, but they just act like they're something special."
"Tiger's words, though rough, make sense." Tie Dun scoffed. "I thought it was good news, that I could go home sooner. I didn't expect the Demonic Sect people to be so brainless. Fine! Let's fight!"
Wang Wu rubbed his wrist, his tone calm: "As expected. The other side has four Celestial Realm experts, over three hundred Grandmasters, and this natural fortress. They must feel that the outcome is still uncertain."
"Let's fight!" another general sneered. "Do they think a dilapidated city can stop us?"
The tent was filled with an overwhelming fighting spirit; everyone was talking at once, their curses and shouts of wanting to fight mingling together.
Lin Feng listened quietly, and only slowly put down his teacup when they had stopped arguing.
"Finished arguing?" he asked calmly. "Then go prepare and attack the city according to the original plan."
"Yes, sir!"
Dozens of people responded in unison, their voices causing the tent flaps to flutter loudly.
Lin Feng waved his hand: "Meng Yi, the key is the battle against their Grandmasters. As long as we kill enough of their Grandmasters, they will surrender. Go and assemble the flying legion first."
"Yes!" Meng Yi accepted the order, stood up, and turned to leave the tent.
The crowd filed out.
Moments later, horns and war drums sounded from all sides of the camp.
The entire military camp, like a giant beast awakened, slowly rose and pressed down on the majestic city embedded in the mountains to the north.
...
Half an hour later, the Beacon Fire army advanced to within three miles of Blood Nest No. 1 and slowly came to a stop.
The black military formations stretched out from one end of the horizon to the other, their banners obscuring the sky.
Three miles away, the western gate of Blood Nest No. 1 stood like a black barrier stretching between heaven and earth.
The city wall was densely packed with disciples of the Demonic Sect, a dark mass.
Innate masters moved among them, their auras sharp and their gazes sinister.
Behind the battlements, countless crossbows had already opened their arrow slots, with the arrowheads pointing diagonally downwards.
In the sky, more than 1,300 black-feathered kites spread their wings and circled, the sound of their wings striking the air forming a continuous chorus, like muffled thunder rolling across the sky.
Each of the black-feathered kites carried a disciple of the Innate Realm, each wielding a weapon, their eyes filled with undisguised killing intent.
Above them, 378 grandmasters stood in formation in mid-air, with ten great grandmasters at the very front.
The four Celestial Realm experts, Ye Ying, Li Zhan, Chong Shan, and Zang Hua, were suspended three hundred meters in the air.
On the Beacon Tower side, the air force had already been deployed.
Eighty captains, fifty generals of ten thousand men, and five hundred generals of one thousand men rode ice-winged griffins, forming an iron wall in the air.
Two thousand ice-winged griffins followed behind, with centurions and five hundred men on their backs.
Further up, Lin Feng, along with Jiang Zhaoyue, Jiang Yelan, Zhao Hu, Isabella, Raymond, and other combatants of level 40 or above, faced off against the four Celestial Realm experts from the Blood Abyss Sect.
The two armies faced off, and suddenly the world fell silent.
In the midst of this deathly silence, Lin Feng raised his hand and suddenly swung it forward.
"attack."
The sound of bugles suddenly resounded between heaven and earth.
