Supremely Talented Tyrant
Chapter 2180 - 2381: Two Women!
When He Yingzi rushed in and turned her head to see Hao Jian in that instant, she was instantly ablaze with fury. Then she saw that Hao Jian was about to leave, and the moment she thought of what happened yesterday, her anger shot straight to the sky. Yes, it had been her fault at the very beginning, but who told him to look exactly like some stinking thief? That was his fault, otherwise she wouldn't have mistaken him for the thief's accomplice.
Of course, that wasn't the main point. What really infuriated her was what he did afterward. How could there be such a rude, shameless hooligan? A guy like that, once he landed in her hands, there was no way he'd have any good days.
So when she saw Hao Jian and then saw him trying to slip away, she immediately flared up, lifted her leg and was about to chase. But just as her front foot stepped out, her back heel was grabbed by someone. She turned around and saw that it was Director Wang, who had grabbed her to stop her from going after him.
"Director!" She looked completely baffled.
Director Wang just shook his head and didn't speak, but the meaning in his eyes was very clear: he was signaling her not to go after them. By the time Director Wang let go of her, Hao Jian had already dragged Liang Yuwei and run off without a trace. She rushed out and took a look—nothing at all. Fuming, she came back, then ran to Director Wang's office and glared at him, looking thoroughly unwilling to let it go.
"Director, what are you doing? Why'd you hold me back just now? If you hadn't stopped me, he wouldn't have been able to get away!" He Yingzi complained.
Director Wang sat in his chair, glanced at He Yingzi, and asked with a smile, "Guests from afar are still guests. If I don't hold you back, with that temper of yours, who knows what you'd do to him? And besides, why did you rush to chase after him for no reason? Run away? He just left. He even said goodbye before leaving—how can you call that running away? On the other hand, you're getting more and more out of line. You didn't even knock and just barged in here, and while I had a guest, no less. Ever heard of rules?"
By the end, Director Wang had already raised his eyebrows at her. He Yingzi looked all aggrieved and said, "Director, how come you're taking an outsider's side when you talk?"
Director Wang's expression turned a bit more serious, like a teacher lecturing a student about the big principles in life. He said, "Taking an outsider's side? If I handled things according to your temper, who knows how big of a scene you'd make. Reign in that temper of yours. Otherwise, you'll only suffer because of it later on."
Of course, He Yingzi couldn't listen to any of that. She just stared at Director Wang, fuming. Knowing her temperament, Director Wang countered, "All right then, you tell me what exactly he did to offend you. Did he do anything that really wronged you? Tell me. If he did, I'll call him back right now and let you vent to your heart's content."
At that, He Yingzi was suddenly left speechless. If she had to say how he'd wronged her, that would be all those hooligan moves he pulled later. But only she knew about those things; there was no way she could tell the director. How embarrassing would that be? At the same time, if she started talking, once Director Wang kept asking, she'd definitely end up saying that she'd mistakenly arrested Hao Jian first, which then led to the whole series of events after that. Director Wang would definitely latch onto that and give her a proper scolding. So after being asked like that by the director, she was instantly struck dumb, unable to get a single word out, frozen on the spot.
Seeing that his one question had stunned He Yingzi, Director Wang immediately waved his hand and said, "All right, all right, stop rambling about useless things here. Go back to your post and do your job properly."
With that said, He Yingzi couldn't find anything to refute. Though she was unconvinced in her heart, she still nodded and backed out, going off to busy herself. The moment she got outside, she gave the corner of the wall a vicious kick, silently cursing Hao Jian's name in her heart. He'd gotten away this time, but next time she definitely wouldn't let him off easily. She'd make sure he understood what happens when you cross her.
Watching He Yingzi leave, Director Wang shook his head again and sighed lightly. "Sigh, that girl's temper…"
......
Still not quite sure what was going on and feeling it all a bit sudden, Liang Yuwei was pulled out of the police station by Hao Jian, then they got into the car. Without another word, he started the engine and drove off. Only after they'd driven a good distance did Liang Yuwei suddenly give him a strange look and motion for him to pull over, and he parked the car by the side of the road.
"That female cop who mistakenly arrested you yesterday—that was her, right?" Liang Yuwei suddenly asked.
Hao Jian hadn't expected a woman's intuition to be that sharp. She'd managed to guess it with just that little bit of reaction. He saw no point in hiding it, so he nodded and said, "Mm, it was her."
Liang Yuwei didn't really understand and asked, "Since it was her, why did you just drag me away like that? With Director Wang there, we should've exposed what she did properly."
Hao Jian definitely couldn't let her do that. If she did, it would only expose what he'd done afterward yesterday, so he absolutely couldn't let Liang Yuwei go through with it. He said, "Forget it, forget it. It's all over now, why keep harping on it?"
Liang Yuwei said firmly, "No way. My man can only be bullied by me. No one else gets to."
So domineering—that was Hao Jian's first thought. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly to show his surprise, then he said, "Uh… I get what you mean. Let's not let something like this ruin our mood. How can a man's grudge be left for a woman to settle? Wouldn't that make the man look totally useless? So don't worry about it, I'll take care of my own revenge and dignity. You just focus on being happy. It's not easy for you to come all this way; we can't have you going back in a bad mood, right?"
Liang Yuwei didn't say anything, clearly looking a little sulky. Hao Jian put his hand on her face, forcing her cheeks into a smile and said, "Come on, smile, cheer up."
Only then did Liang Yuwei show a bit of a smile, but she quickly put it away again, gave Hao Jian a punch on the shoulder and said, "You're the only one who knows how to sweet-talk. Let's go, since Xiaohai's not here, we two have to make good use of this rare alone time."
Seeing Liang Yuwei's mood change, Hao Jian was secretly overjoyed and said, "That's more like it. Come on, let's go check out some fun spots in Yun City first, then grab something to eat, come back a bit later, and that brat Liang Xiaohan won't get lost anyway, it'll be fine."
"Mm!" Liang Yuwei nodded, a smile spreading over her face.
Right after that, Hao Jian drove Liang Yuwei for a spin around downtown Yun City. They ate, drank, played, and had a great time. When night fell, the two of them went to a restaurant and enjoyed a rare candlelight dinner. By then it was already past nine o'clock. He checked the time; after a whole day out they were both a bit tired, so he drove back, ready to rest.
The lights in the room were on, which meant Liang Xiaohan was home. The documents Liang Yuwei needed to take to Hua City were left directly in the trunk, she didn't bring them up. She knocked on the door, and it was Liang Xiaohan who opened it. After opening the door, Liang Xiaohan immediately flopped back onto the sofa to keep watching TV, while Hao Jian put the things they'd bought into the fridge.
"Hmph! You guys went out and didn't bring me." At this moment, Liang Xiaohan looked full of complaint as she spoke to her cousin Liang Yuwei.
Liang Yuwei sat down beside her, looking at her with a doting expression and said, "Weren't you out with your friends during the day? Tomorrow your cousin will take you out to play, whatever you want, I'll buy it for you."
But Liang Xiaohan lifted her chin and shot a glance at Hao Jian over by the fridge, then said, "Don't bring him. Just seeing him annoys me to death."
Liang Yuwei laughed. She hadn't expected the two of them to clash this much, and had no idea how they'd been getting along this past month or so. But she doted on this younger cousin, so she said, "Okay, okay, we won't bring him, just the two of us."
Only then did Liang Xiaohan break into a big smile. Hugging Liang Yuwei, she said happily, "Mm, Cousin, you're the best."
Hao Jian could clearly hear every word from the side, but he didn't say anything. A smile appeared on his face, and he quietly slipped into the room, taking out the clothes he'd changed out of yesterday to wash them. After that, he headed straight to the kitchen to busy himself. The two of them had already eaten outside, but just from looking at Liang Xiaohan, he could tell she hadn't had dinner yet, so he decided to whip up some late-night snacks for them to share.
Meanwhile, it had been quite a while since the cousins Liang Yuwei and Liang Xiaohan had last seen each other, so naturally they had a ton to talk about. The two of them sat on the sofa chatting and laughing, their voices lilting like birdsong, bursting into peals of laughter from time to time. They completely ignored Hao Jian, as if he didn't exist, filling the entire room with their laughter.
Hao Jian just chuckled. Seeing the two of them so happy made him happy too, and he focused on the work at hand.
"Late-night snack's ready," Hao Jian called out.
Catching the smell, Liang Xiaohan and Liang Yuwei hurried over. Hao Jian had originally wanted to hand them chopsticks, but he hadn't expected that the girl who looked so composed in front of outsiders would drop all pretense at home. Without even bothering with chopsticks, they just grabbed the food with their hands and dug in. A few pieces of pancake were gone in no time, not a crumb left. Looking at the empty plate, Hao Jian's face showed a helpless expression. If he'd known, he would've made more. Now it had gotten to the point where even the "chef" himself didn't get a bite.
He shook his head helplessly, then picked up the plate and went to wash the dishes.
Wiping her mouth with a napkin, Liang Xiaohan said, looking unsatisfied, "Mm, that tasted pretty good. Make some more tomorrow night."
Hao Jian nodded and said, "Okay, my lady."
That made Liang Yuwei and Liang Xiaohan both burst into laughter. Then they ran back to the sofa, sat down together, and picked up their earlier topic, chatting and laughing away again.
It was getting close to bedtime when Hao Jian…
