Chapter 2178 - 2379: Are You Going or Not???

"Hmm!" Hao Jian nodded, not expecting Liang Yuwei to wake up even earlier than him, considering he was used to waking up early. He was a little surprised.

Soon after, the two of them got dressed and were ready to get up, standing at the door. At this moment, Liang Yuwei hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. Seeing Liang Xiaohan outside would remind her of what happened last night, so her face turned red again.

At this time, Hao Jian hugged her waist from behind and said, "Don't worry, it's okay. Just go out and act like nothing happened. She'll pretend nothing happened last night too, trust me."

"Hmm." Liang Yuwei looked at Hao Jian, nodded, and then turned her eyes to the door, walked forward, and opened it. When the door opened, she saw Liang Xiaohan sitting on the sofa watching TV, as if nothing had happened. Liang Yuwei took a deep breath and walked over too, acting as if nothing had happened, and continued watching TV.

Hao Jian walked up to Liang Yuwei and patted her shoulder, indicating her to relax, it was nothing. Sure enough, she became much more relaxed, then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

It should have been Hao Jian who prepared it, but since she was used to preparing breakfast herself, she didn't say anything about having Hao Jian do it. After asking where things were roughly stored, she went to make breakfast.

At this moment, Hao Jian sat down next to Liang Xiaohan and asked, "Did you sleep well last night?"

Usually, if Liang Xiaohan heard Hao Jian ask this, she would instantly roll her eyes at him, but this time, for some unknown reason—perhaps feeling guilty or remorseful—she didn't roll her eyes, but rather said with a serious face, "Not bad."

"Oh." Seeing Liang Xiaohan in this state, Hao Jian didn't continue the conversation. Opening with just that made things less awkward.

Sure enough, after he took the initiative to talk to Liang Xiaohan, when she saw Liang Yuwei preparing breakfast, she even went over to help on her own, and the two of them immediately started chatting and laughing. This quite surprised Hao Jian, and before long, he felt like an outsider, while they seemed like the only owners of the house.

Without saying much, once breakfast was ready, it was time to eat. Liang Xiaohan and Liang Yuwei chatted and laughed, with none of the awkwardness from last night, as if nothing had ever happened. The two resumed their usual sisterly bond, and Hao Jian sat next to them like an outsider, unable to join their conversation.

Breakfast finished quickly, and suddenly Liang Xiaohan said she needed to go out, saying she was meeting some friend. Liang Yuwei acknowledged this, but Hao Jian found it quite surprising. What friends could Liang Xiaohan have? She hadn't been in Yun City long, and usually, her social contact only involved classmates, with no communication with others. Who could be asking her out now? Zhang Danlin? Impossible! He Qiqi? Also impossible! Fatty and Hu Lai? Even less likely.

No matter how hard he thought, he couldn't come up with someone who might invite Liang Xiaohan out at this time. However, thinking too much was pointless. Who knows, maybe Liang Xiaohan just wanted to go out alone and said someone invited her? It was uncertain, but she had already left the house.

Since Liang Xiaohan went out, only Hao Jian and Liang Yuwei were left in the house. However, they couldn't enjoy themselves today because, earlier when they got up, Liang Yuwei mentioned that there was something to be done today and asked Hao Jian to accompany her. He agreed, and after she freshened up, they were ready to go out.

It's a hassle for women to go out, so by the time Liang Yuwei was ready, Hao Jian had been sitting idly on the sofa for nearly half an hour, but he had no complaints.

"Let's go," Liang Yuwei said.

Hao Jian nodded, and then the two of them went out, went downstairs, got to the parking spot, and got in the car. Originally, Hao Jian suggested he drive since she was new to the area and unfamiliar, prone to getting lost. Also, driving was a tiresome task better suited for a man.

However, Liang Yuwei insisted he sit properly in the passenger seat, allowing her to drive. Since she wanted to drive, Hao Jian didn't say anything and just sat in the passenger seat, playing with his phone.

After about twenty minutes of driving, the car stopped.

"We're here, get out," Liang Yuwei said.

Hao Jian lifted his head, and to his shock, they were at the same police station he had been to yesterday. He was momentarily stunned, realizing that when Yuwei mentioned handling something, it actually involved the police station. He paused for about three or four seconds.

Liang Yuwei patted him and said, "Get out, let's go, what are you standing there for?"

Hao Jian regained his senses, uttered a noise of acknowledgment, and got out of the car. However, after getting out, he didn't follow Liang Yuwei inside. He remembered what he had done to He Yingzi, the so-called crazy policewoman, yesterday. At the time, he thought he would never meet her again, so he acted recklessly to get back at her.

However, if they were entering today, there was a risk of meeting He Yingzi again, and if she sought revenge for yesterday, what would he do? Facing both He Yingzi and Liang Yuwei, wouldn't his situation be dire?

So, while he did get out of the car, he hesitated before going further inside. Liang Yuwei noticed he wasn't following and turned back, looking at him confused, saying, "Come on, what are you standing there for?"

"Um," Hao Jian was a bit embarrassed, "maybe you should just go in, I'll stay outside, waiting until you're done."

Liang Yuwei didn't know what was up with Hao Jian, so she said, "I obviously have a reason for bringing you, or I wouldn't have bothered. Later, I'll have to carry a lot of materials out alone, and you need to help me!"

Carrying materials? So she was here to transfer materials back to Hua City. He realized what she meant by handling something, but he still didn't want to go in. He said, "Why don't you just let the people inside help you carry them? My back hurts suddenly, so I'll just wait here."

Repeated refusals gave Liu Yuwei the impression Hao Jian was acting inexplicably odd.

In fact, the real reason she came was twofold: partly due to work, to transfer some materials back from the Yun City Police Department. But more personally, after hearing about Hao Jian's ordeal yesterday, she was incensed, even if she didn't show it. Especially hearing about the female officer falsely accusing him and detaining him, she was furious. Even though he was released unharmed, she couldn't get over it. Her man was only for her to bully; how could others even think of it?

She was angry but hadn't mentioned it, and part of calling Hao Jian was to identify the female officer. Even though she worked in a neighboring city and lacked authority here, she would remember this indignity. Those who wrong her man won't have better days in the future; she'd get her revenge eventually.

But knowing Hao Jian's pride, how could he let a woman fight for his revenge? Impossible. She thought, once inside, he would have no choice, finding it odd he was already reluctant.

"Are you coming or not?" she commanded Hao Jian.

Hao Jian shook his head resolutely. She got a bit upset, raising her volume, "Are you coming? If not, I'll go back to Hua City later."

In a flash, those words affected Hao Jian, who quickly said, "Okay, okay, I'll listen to you and go."

If she followed through, she'd handle her business and directly head back, leaving him. With that said, she was angry, and appeasing an angry woman was as exhausting as saving the world. Thus, to avoid angering Liang Yuwei, no matter the trials inside, if she needed his company, he had no choice but to follow.

In that brief confusion, after speaking, Liang Yuwei was delighted, saying, "Good boy."

She then approached, grasped his arm, and they walked into the police station together. Hao Jian put on an expressionless face, inwardly praying not to encounter He Yingzi, hoping terribly not to meet her, knowing the consequences if he did.

Perhaps his prayer was heard; once inside the police station, they never encountered He Yingzi. Liang Yuwei seemed familiar with the place, entering, presenting her credentials, and stating her purpose, immediately attended to.

The Yun City Police Department had obviously been informed of Liang Yuwei's visit and had prepared the reception accordingly; after a greeting, the attendant led them inside.

"Maybe we should..." Hao Jian began.
