Chapter 954: Chapter 821: Snowy Night Revelry!
Mu Qingyi stepped in to protect Mo Ling and facilitate his retreat, but when Qin Wu was chased by the White Nightmare Demon, she scarcely gave him a second glance.
Among the infamous Sixteen Extremes, Martial Extreme Qin Wu ranked second, so even as he continuously cried for help while fleeing, Mu Qingyi remained indifferent.
Long ago, a female disciple of Mu Qingyi was murdered, and out of consideration for the Soul Alliance’s dignity, she didn’t directly kill Qin Wu due to the lack of concrete evidence. Although many years had passed, Mu Qingyi still “harbored resentment in her heart.” Now that he was being chased by the White Nightmare Demon, how could Mu Qingyi possibly step in to save him!
As Mo Ling left the snowy plain in a fury, a triumphant cheer erupted across the snowlands!!
The members of the Three Great Palaces were thrilled to the point of wanting to embrace each other and embrace their blood-soaked Soul Pets!!
The Support Soul Pet Masters were so overjoyed they forgot to heal the wounded people and Soul Pets, until after the first wave of ecstatic cheering, they began rushing through the ranks, gratified to be treating some of the more seriously injured Soul Pets.
Standing on the bloodstained snow, looking at the delirious joy and tears of the people of Snow City, a gratified smile also appeared on Chu Mu’s face.
Somehow, Chu Mu had come to regard the Soul Hall as his home and being able to bring a glimmer of light amidst these dark times felt like dawn breaking, warming his entire being.
Yet, the strength gap between the Three Great Palaces and the Soul Alliance was still significant. Xiong Mo Moling alone was capable of handling several Elders and many Elders…
The strength of the other Three Heroes was undoubtedly stronger; to achieve true victory, there must be someone who could contend with the Four Heroes of the Soul Alliance, someone who could restrain the lofty, virtually unseen Soul Alliance Master!
“Brother Chu!” Teng Lang, with a beaming smile, ran to Chu Mu’s side, patting his shoulder heavily before bursting into prolonged laughter.
Chu Mu looked at this somewhat neurotic man. In fact, Chu Mu knew that as the Third Young Lord of the Soul Hall and the heir to Snow City, no one cared more about this decisive battle than him. As the man laughed, his eyes twinkled.
But Teng Lang, stubborn and refusing to let another man see him so emotionally moved, just laughed louder as if he believed he could camouflage his true feelings well.
“If you must cry, go find your father and weep on his shoulder. He must feel the same as you…” Chu Mu said, looking at the man’s strained and odd expression, with a wry smile.
“I, Teng Lang, owe you one again,” Teng Lang slowly stopped laughing, speaking to Chu Mu with deep sincerity.
“Yeah,” Chu Mu nodded, not making any additional gestures.
Teng Jiangfeng didn’t allow everyone to linger too long there, given that just a few dozen kilometers away, the Soul Alliance still had a massive army. If Xiong Mo Moling went back on his word and brought his army crushing over, it would likely endanger their lives.
In this regard, as the city master, Teng Jiangfeng was indeed very cautious. He didn’t allow victory to cloud his judgment because Xiong Mo Moling did indeed have such an intent!
On the way back, ten kilometers outside the city, the army of the Three Great Palaces escorted all the participants of the decisive battle back into Snow City.
After returning to Snow City, the city boiled over again!!
That defense battle had been so arduous that the victory was a relief not only to the members of the Three Great Palaces but also to the residents of Snow City who had grown accustomed to their presence.
That night, Heavenly Consort Mu Qingyi made her appearance in Snow City, in line with her promise: if the Soul Alliance dared to attack Snow City again, she would take action to expel them.
With the Female War Goddess presiding over Snow City, the Three Great Palaces needn’t worry about a counterattack from the Soul Alliance, so the whole city exploded into a snowy nocturnal frenzy, even more lively than any Auspicious Snow celebration before the Snow Festival each year!
The celebration was held in the Central Square, where rows of aged and palatable wines were set out. Glass after glass of it poured down their throats, followed by hearty, carefree laughter!
The food was richly fragrant, especially the golden roasted lamb, a whopping ten meters high in the center, Snow City’s famous snow lamb—the most delicious food for humans and Soul Pets. People around it were already awkwardly swallowing their saliva, even before it was fully cooked.
The melodious singing of the fair-faced young girls of Snow City always sounded so tender, so when one lies drunk on a big chair, resting with eyes closed, their voices enter the ears, lulling into a beautiful slumber…
And at various places around Central Square, dancing women moved as lightly as butterflies, and watching them silently was indeed an intoxicating pleasure.
Of course, such occasions could never be without those gluttonous Soul Pets!
While Soul Pets could be fed with Soul Cores and Soul Crystals, human delicacies were a great temptation for Soul Pets. It is said that using tasty food to lure Soul Pets is also an effective way to successfully sign a soul contract!
Soul Pets were typically large creatures, so naturally, they couldn’t all appear in Central Square. Their food was arranged along the streets that stretched out in all directions from the square, with most being delicious roasted snow lamb.
However, different types of Soul Pets require different types of food, which the cooks understood very well. They were specially in charge of preparing various attribute-related foods…
“`
One could often see chefs who were specially assigned to care for Soul Pets being surrounded by a group of them, then flashing a helpless smile as the great snow sheep they had painstakingly roasted for half the day were devoured in a few seconds by these wild creatures, one by one looking expectantly at him…
There were also some Soul Pets that got completely drunk, stumbling and then sprawling out on an empty street to fall into a deep sleep, heedlessly taking up the entire street with their size, forcing other Soul Pets to climb over the belly of these careless fellows to pass by.
…
“What a cute little thing, whose Soul Pet is this?” a few beautiful and charming young ladies said joyfully, pointing at a silver Little Fox.
This Little Fox was nibbling on a delicious fire fruit with its head lowered, its tiny and delicate body accompanied by nine miniature tails waving back and forth, causing the eyes of these young ladies to flicker with infatuation, itching to embrace it and play.
“Whine~~~~”
The little fellow didn’t seem to like being disturbed while eating, showing signs of impatience as it grabbed a few fire fruits. With a flash, it vanished from the sight of these ladies as if it had teleported, leaving them searching all around for quite a while without success. It was only after some time that they spotted the captivating Little Fox perched on the shoulder of a man in black clothes.
“I’ve seen that man before; he is Chu Fangchen!” one of the ladies exclaimed.
“Who is Chu Fangchen?” asked a younger girl, looking puzzled.
“Silly girl, he’s the Commander of the Soul Lord Army, remember? Before the feast started, the city master announced a few people for their outstanding contributions, and he was one of them. They say he is a High Emperor Level Soul Pet Master!”
“High Emperor Level? How could that be? He looks like he’s only in his twenties. Those in Snow City who have reached the High Emperor Level are all old men… But he’s so handsome!” The girls clearly had their doubts.
Saying so, these inexperienced young ladies got carried away chatting about the man’s good looks, as if his strength level wasn’t the main issue at all.
They were just relatives of certain officials from the Three Great Palaces, with no comprehensive understanding of the true high-level powers, nor did they pursue a path as Soul Pet Trainers, naturally being unaware of what Chu Fangchen’s status as a High Emperor entailed.
However, most people in Central Square were Soul Pet Trainers, and those aware that Chu Mu possessed Peak Emperor Level Soul Pets admired and respected him genuinely, not just out of simple adoration!
Yet, Chu Mu was relatively low-key and hadn’t allowed the high-ups to deliberately publicize the fact that he had reached the Peak Emperor Level.
Stepping into the Peak Emperor realm wasn’t exactly a secret, yet Chu Mu felt that excessive attention might lead those with ulterior motives to connect him with Chu Mu from World City.
Chu Mu had another identity, that of the Territory King of World Realm. The few high-ups who knew about his Peak Emperor status were not much of a concern, as he was bound to deal with them anyway. However, letting too many people know might lead to those familiar with him noticing too many similarities between him and the King of World Realm, and it would be troublesome if this connection was exposed.
“Chu Fangchen, Her Highness requests your presence,” said an attendant.
While Chu Mu was encircled by Zhuo Wan and a slew of other female warriors, an attendant of Mu Qingyi approached with an air of discordance and spoke to him.
“What’s the matter?” Chu Mu asked, puzzled.
“You’ll see once you get there,” the attendant replied curtly, then turned and left without waiting to see if Chu Mu would follow.
No sooner had the attendant departed than Zhuo Wan and the other ladies started making a fuss, voicing all sorts of remarks. After all, the person requesting to meet Chu Mu was no less than the inaccessible Female War Goddess.
Zhuo Wan and her companions hadn’t forgotten that mighty White Demon Tiger, the Crowned Phoenix King radiating awe over the entire battlefield, and the woman standing aloof in the high altitude, an image of the Heavenly Consort so divine and detached in their hearts, ethereal and immensely powerful, able to look down upon all else.
Chu Mu finally managed to extricate himself from the incessant chatter of the female Soul Pet Trainers and made his way to the fountain at the very center of Central Square.
By the fountain stood Mu Qingyi with her hands behind her back. Like the boisterous feast, she seemed out of place with her graceful and stunning posture, causing a slightly inebriated Chu Mu to lose focus for a moment.
“Your Highness,” Chu Mu said, respectfully bowing his head and refraining from any other excessive gestures.
“Beyond Great Demon Lake in Northern Forbidden Area, there is a Demonic Realm. The king of that realm is a Seven Sins Fox called Thunder Lord. If you get the chance, you might want to visit; you may find a way to attain ultimate redemption,” Mu Qingyi said, still facing away as she spoke to Chu Mu.
“Demonic Realm!” Chu Mu was somewhat surprised.
“The strength of that Seven Sins Fox, the Thunder Lord…” Chu Mu continued to inquire.
“Dominator Level,” replied Mu Qingyi indifferently.
