Supreme Swordsman System
Chapter 83 Mateo Alvarez
Iris and King were walking at a normal pace when a waiter suddenly pushed a food cart and sped past them. He was moving so fast that the wind sent their hair flying all over the place.
“Is something wrong with that waiter’s head? If he damages anything here, can he even afford to pay for it?”
King shook his head at the waiter’s haste. The funny thing was that he was also an impatient person, yet here he was criticizing someone else.
“You don’t need to worry about that. He’s a cultivator, and his level is decent. At that level, if he still manages to cause trouble over something as stupid as accidentally damaging something, then he’s truly useless.”
The higher a cultivator’s level, the more terrifyingly fast their reflexes and ability to handle situations became.
Unless a cultivator was too lazy to pay attention, they wouldn’t make stupid mistakes like accidentally damaging decorations.
“But why is he in such a hurry? Is that food cart meant for people to eat?”
The more King thought about the food cart, the more tightly his eyebrows furrowed. The speed was indeed fast, but it was still too slow for him, so he could see everything clearly.
That food cart was carrying about fifty kilograms of food. Even if it wasn’t quite fifty kilograms, it couldn’t be far off.
“If you’ve never tried eating your fill, don’t rush to judge others. In terms of physical, you’re a monster right now, not a human.”
Before they reached that room, Iris had a vague feeling about something. After calculating the timing a little… there was a high chance that person had returned.
“You’re not wrong. Even though I haven’t tried it, I feel like a food cart that big wouldn’t be enough to fill me up either. But how does that make any sense? That pile of food looks even bigger than my entire body.”
The more King thought about it, the less he understood. Could his stomach have awakened some kind of superpower after he became a cultivator, making matter disappear?
That was just too unreasonable. Matter couldn’t be created or destroyed out of nowhere. It could be converted into energy, but that process was extremely difficult. There was no way the human body could do that.
“What is one plus one?”
“Two. Are you kidding me?”
King was dumbfounded when Iris suddenly asked him such a childish math question. What did this have to do with what he was wondering about?
“Exactly. It’s obvious. You don’t need to ask why it exists because it’s a rule of this world.”
How could he even explain it? This was simply a rule of this world. Once someone became a cultivator, their appetite became more and more absurd.
Even more ridiculous was that their waste didn’t increase either, and they could even stop producing any at all once they reached a high enough level.
“Tsk, how could I forget? This is just a novel.”
After spending some time here, King had unknowingly become so immersed in this world that he hadn’t even noticed it himself. Because he had grown more familiar with it, he often unconsciously treated the two Earths as one and the same.
A fictional world only needed to follow its own logic. That logic didn’t necessarily have to make sense in reality.
The walk to the most luxurious and spacious room wasn’t long. But before they reached it, King saw another waiter hurrying inside.
This time, things were different from before. There was no food cart, but the waiter was carrying a bunch of musical instruments. King didn’t know much about musical instruments, but he could recognize a few, such as violins, cellos…
Both waiters immediately stopped in front of the large door. It was just a dining room, yet they had to station four more bodyguards outside. That was truly extravagant.
Four burly men in black suits stood like two pairs of impenetrable bronze statues. They wore earpieces, had stun batons at their waists, and looked incredibly cool with their razor-sharp gazes.
But they were all looks and no substance, at least in King’s eyes. If they actually fought, King would only need a single slash to take all four of them down.
The moment the large door cracked open, the sound of classical music filled with aristocratic elegance and luxury rang out. The room’s soundproofing was so good that even King was surprised.
“Not bad soundproofing. Although the distance isn’t exactly that close, I really couldn’t hear anything. Hmm… the main reason is still that I wasn’t paying attention.”
The room wasn’t soundproofed so well that King couldn’t detect anything at all.
The problem was that what he detected was just like meaningless background noise found everywhere, so he hadn’t paid attention to it.
Iris ignored King and listened to the melody that played for a few seconds before stopping when the door closed.
The familiar melody sounded both elegant and incredibly old-fashioned, if not downright outdated.
Based on this sound alone, Iris was at least 80% certain she could guess the identity of the person inside.
“I think I know who’s inside now. In that case, we won’t need many words to ‘persuade’ him to leave.”
“What?”
Before King could ask anything else, she grabbed his hand and ran at full speed. In the blink of an eye, the two of them appeared right in front of the four bodyguards.
The speed Iris had just displayed wasn’t even a fraction of her true power, but it was enough to startle the four tall men.
“May I ask what this young lady needs help with? There’s a gentleman dining inside.”
They were working to earn money, not to risk their lives. Picking a fight with a cultivator whose level was far higher than theirs was completely pointless.
“Alone? Then his name is Mateo Alvarez, right?”
“Sorry, miss. We aren’t authorized to disclose the identity of the person dining inside.”
The bodyguards’ expressions showed a brief hint of confusion. That tiny reaction alone was enough to make Iris’s lips curl into a smile.
“One, open the door so I can talk to him. Two, I’ll beat you into the hospital and open the door myself.”
Iris wasn’t carrying a sword, but her sharp and domineering aura sent chills down the spines of all four men, each of whom was a head taller than her.
The bodyguards panicked. Anyone who dared to act so arrogantly in a place like this was definitely a top-tier figure, not some nobody.
“Wait a moment, I’ll open the door for you, miss.”
One of them couldn’t withstand the pressure and immediately cracked the door open. The moment the door opened slightly, the person inside also sensed the spiritual power Iris had deliberately released.
