Chapter 80: 80 - High-end Restaurant

Seeing that his master was confused, the system quickly replied. Of course, it wouldn’t miss a chance to prove its reliability.

[Master, it’s only natural that you don’t feel hungry or thirsty. Your strength has been increasing at an astonishing rate. Because you’ve been growing stronger nonstop, your body’s endurance has long since left ordinary people thousands of miles behind.]

[This is the reasonable situation. If you really felt hungry or thirsty after just a few days, that would be abnormal.]

Iris was about to explain things to King when she saw that he wasn’t paying attention to her and just kept nodding, so she gave up.

"Having a system sure is convenient, huh?"

"Of course. But don’t even think about getting your hands on it. You’re not qualified to be its master."

Seeing Iris’s jealousy, or at least that’s what it looked like to him, King became even more smug.

"Tsk, if you want to eat, follow me. Otherwise, get lost."

Iris clicked her tongue and walked away. She hadn’t expected King to act so smug just because she’d casually asked him a question.

"Hey, wait a second."

When it came to food, King was naturally interested. Wasn’t food one of the things people cared about most when traveling to an unfamiliar place?

King now saw himself as a tourist visiting another world. If he had a chance to enjoy the local cuisine, he wouldn’t turn it down.

Besides, he thought the experience wouldn’t be bad. He had plenty of money now, and Iris was just as wealthy.

He’d never had the chance to eat at high-end restaurants in his entire life. If he didn’t try it now, when would he?

After leaving the library, the two of them headed to a restaurant. Compared to the library, the restaurant was much shorter, but its decor was far more luxurious.

There were other restaurants nearby, but this was the biggest, most luxurious, and most expensive one.

Only a place like this was worthy of Iris taking King to for their first meal together.

It wasn’t that she looked down on the other restaurants. With the appetite of a top-level cultivator like her, eating at those places wouldn’t even be enough to fill the gaps between her teeth. This restaurant was indeed expensive, but it never ran out of food.

"Holy crap! This is the first time I’ve seen a restaurant this big."

King kept glancing around like a country bumpkin seeing how developed the world was for the first time.

This was his instinctive reaction, and he hadn’t expected it himself, so he didn’t feel embarrassed about it either.

"Is this all it takes to surprise you? Come with me to the top floor, and you’ll be even more shocked."

Seeing his country bumpkin reaction, the corners of Iris’s mouth curled up, but she still didn’t laugh out loud.

It wasn’t that she behaved more gently because this place was luxurious. She simply didn’t want to attract too much attention.

Unlike the library, which had so many books that it could make people sick of them, this academy’s most high-end restaurant was a place frequently visited by quite a few high-level cultivators.

Ordinary people would behave very carefully here to avoid offending some top-level figure. So anyone who laughed and talked without the slightest restraint here was definitely a big shot.

"Huh, could it be even more luxurious?"

Looking around, King felt that although this was a restaurant, its decor was no less impressive than that of a five-star hotel. That made him even more curious about what the floor above was called and what it actually looked like.

When they reached the elevator, there were only floors up to the ninth floor inside, even though the restaurant clearly had ten floors from the outside.

"What the hell? Why are there only nine floors? I clearly saw that this building has ten floors."

King frowned at the numbers clearly displayed in front of him. There was definitely nothing wrong with his eyes, so the problem had to be with the elevator.

"That floor is the VIP floor, so not everyone can go there. The elevator to the tenth floor is on the ninth floor."

As she spoke, Iris pressed the number ’9’. The elevator’s speed was exactly the same as the library’s, as if they were the same model.

"Tsk, rich people really come up with all kinds of ridiculous things. I’ve never eaten at a place this complicated before."

Thinking about how even a luxurious place like this had a VIP floor, King couldn’t help clicking his tongue.

Based on what he’d seen so far, the luxury on the tenth floor would definitely be beyond the understanding of a ’poor person’ like him.

The elevator doors opened, and King immediately looked around. The scenery on the ninth floor wasn’t much different from the first floor. It was just more spacious up here, and there were fewer people dining.

The prices were indeed somewhat higher, but not by much in percentage terms. Of course, they were still enough to leave a ’poor’ as King impressed.

This restaurant was clearly enormous, yet there didn’t seem to be many customers. Perhaps not many people chose to have lunch here.

Taking a quick look at the menu, King saw plenty of dishes priced in the three or four digits.

Spending that much money on lunch really wasn’t reasonable. At least, that was how King saw it if he still ate three meals a day like an ordinary person.

"We’re almost there. How do you feel about visiting a world-class restaurant like this for the first time?"

As they walked, Iris asked curiously. She also wanted to know what King thought and see whether his reaction was similar to hers the first time she came here.

This restaurant really was world-class when it came to luxury. After all, being recognized as the most high-end restaurant in the Cultivation Academy since the academy was founded wasn’t something easy to achieve.

"Hmm... It’s a novel experience, but also wasteful. Just one percent of the price of an average dish here would’ve been enough for me to eat comfortably back then."

King was arrogant and conceited, but that didn’t mean he didn’t care about money. For someone who’d never had much money, being reluctant to spend it had practically become second nature.

"Hahaha... That’s exactly how I felt the first time I came here. Back then, I still wasn’t used to being rich and throwing money around like it was nothing."

He’d thought Iris would call him a ’country bumpkin’, but he hadn’t expected their thoughts on this matter to be so similar.
