Chapter 70 - Object Manipulation Technique
Chapter 70: 70 - Object Manipulation Technique
While they were talking, Iris suddenly disappeared. By the time she returned, she was already wearing an outfit that wasn’t flashy but was a little eye-catching.
Bright red long pants and a bright yellow long-sleeved shirt. Her sneakers had both yellow and red colors and were just regular high-end shoes. Not only that, but she was also wearing red-framed glasses and a shiny bright yellow watch.
The strongest cultivator of humanity obviously didn’t have any vision problems. Her glasses were just an accessory.
"What the hell are you doing? I only asked for directions."
Seeing Iris suddenly change her clothes, King stared at her in confusion. It seemed she had not only changed her clothes but also put on some makeup. She looked very different from usual, but not prettier. She just simply looked strange.
"I suddenly want to go to the library too. Coincidentally, there are a few books at the library that I haven’t finished reading. Is there a problem with that?"
"But what’s with the outfit?"
Watching Iris act like she wasn’t acting at all, King’s eyelids twitched a few times.
Since she was stubbornly refusing to tell the truth, whatever. As long as she was willing to show him the way to the library, there was no problem here.
"I’m very famous, so I need to prepare a little when I go out for a walk. Otherwise, if fans chase after me for autographs and photos, it’ll be very troublesome."
As if she had been waiting for this question for a long time, Iris lifted her chin proudly. The way she expertly looked down on others with half an eye made King’s face turn dark.
When it came to fame in this world, King was far behind her. Even though he really didn’t want to, he had to admit that the title of the strongest cultivator wasn’t something simple.
In this era of cultivation, even the heads of state might not be as famous as she was.
Seeing King’s unpleasant expression, Iris happily walked out of the house. After walking for a while, she turned around and called out to him.
"Are you waiting for me to carry you there?"
"Eh, where’s your sword?"
In King’s eyes, Iris going out without bringing her sword was indeed strange. After all, nowadays, cultivators carrying weapons out on the street wasn’t illegal at all.
Iris didn’t answer and instead raised her hand toward King. Her sword instantly flew out of the house and stopped in front of her.
The speed was so terrifying that it created a deafening sonic boom. The distance was too short, so it seemed like the sword had stopped after only one sound.
"My sword can always come to my hand. I don’t necessarily need to carry it outside when I’m hiding my identity. Anyway, my sword is even more famous than you."
She waved the sword in front of King with an extremely arrogant tone, making his face darken as well.
"Tsk, I only started a few days ago. Give me a little more time, and I’ll definitely become more famous than you."
King clicked his tongue, but his eyes were still staring at the sword as if he had discovered something he had overlooked for a long time.
"By the way, what is this called? It has something to do with flying, right?"
She had been bragging, but seeing King’s eagerness to learn, Iris still answered seriously.
"That’s right. It’s called the Object Manipulation Technique. Simply put, you can control everything to fly around as you wish through a spiritual power connection. There is always a lot of my spiritual power inside my sword. I use it to connect with, sense, and control the sword."
With just these few sentences, King instantly froze like a statue. His eyes stared into empty space as if he had sunk deep into thought.
"Are you kidding me? How did he learn that so fast?"
Seeing King look like he was about to learn it from just a few sentences, Iris’s eyes widened.
How ridiculous was King’s talent, anyway? Even Iris herself hadn’t figured out the Object Manipulation Technique that quickly when she first learned it on her own.
Although one person had figured it out on his own while the other was learning something that already existed, the time King needed was still ridiculously short.
"... Still not enough. I should still read more books."
King felt that he was about to do it, but he was still missing something. However, he wasn’t discouraged.
Having a little challenge was, after all, much more fun than seeing something and learning it right away.
"What do you think? My talent leaves you with no choice but to look up at me helplessly, right?"
Knowing that he couldn’t fly right away, King immediately teased Iris. Just now, although he had been focused, he wasn’t deaf. He had heard everything she muttered.
"Tsk, what’s there to be proud of? You’re just a junior following the path that predecessors like me already paved."
Although she really was surprised, there was no way Iris would admit it. Besides, she really was a predecessor.
No matter how strong King became in the future, she could still use her achievements to put him in his place.
As she spoke, she sent her sword flying back into the house. Then, without waiting for King to react, she headed toward the mountain range.
"Hey, wait for me."
Seeing her run off, King immediately chased after her. Since the durability of their clothes and shoes was limited, Iris’s running speed wasn’t too fast either. Roughly speaking, it was about the maximum speed allowed on a normal highway.
At this speed, it took them less than ten minutes to reach the other side of the mountain range. The closer they got to the academy, the more people there were.
They were running at high speed while climbing the mountain, but neither of their clothes had a single drop of sweat on them.
The low temperature in this area was one reason, but more importantly, these things weren’t enough to make them warm up.
"From here, let’s just walk slowly. There’s no need to attract unnecessary attention."
"Hmph, why should I listen to you? I want everyone to notice me. The more people who come asking for autographs and pictures together, the better."
King didn’t listen to a single word Iris said. Humility was a good virtue, but unfortunately, King didn’t have it. To him, there were only things he felt like doing and things he didn’t feel like doing.
"Suit yourself. But don’t complain to me when you don’t have time to learn how to fly later. Let me think of a headline for the article..."
"Enough. I just want to read my books in peace."
Iris hadn’t even finished speaking when King’s face turned completely dark. He didn’t want to hear her continue exposing his shortcomings anymore.
