Chapter 68: 68 - Reading Books is a Good Thing

What King said wasn’t too far from what Iris had expected. If she were in his situation, she would say the same thing.

"Whatever. Think whatever you want. Once you’re dressed, hurry up and get downstairs to clean the living room for me."

’Hmph, who do you think you are to order me around? I live here, so if I see it dirty, I’ll naturally clean it myself."

King’s mouth curled up as he let out a cold snort, as if he wanted to laugh, making the snort sound nothing like annoyance.

"Get lost. If you don’t clean it properly, don’t even think about going anywhere."

King didn’t say anything else and immediately walked out. Before leaving, he even thoughtfully helped her close the door.

After all, her face was already this red, so she’d probably mumble all kinds of nonsense in the room anyway.

Giving her some private space where she could talk to herself was good. After all, King also needed that kind of privacy right now.

The moment he closed the door, Iris stopped lying down and immediately sat up. Staring at the door for a few seconds, she muttered to herself.

"Hmph, was I out of my mind back then? Why did I buy him clothes and even armor? Tsk, I really can’t remember."

Remembering what happened back then, her face turned even redder. Adrian had really shown her no consideration at the time. That old man had actually dared to laugh in such a suggestive way, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.

What was wrong with caring a little about King? He was the future of humanity. In the future, he would surpass even her. As the strongest cultivator, she had to think about the bigger picture...

That was the reason. It absolutely wasn’t because she had fallen in love at first sight or anything like that. It was just that her personality made the way she expressed herself very problematic.

Somehow, after thinking about it for a while, the image of Valentina and King together suddenly appeared in Iris’s mind, making her frown.

"Damn it, why do I even care about this? No. I have to get it out of my head right now."

Rolling around, she still couldn’t get this thought out of her head, making Iris extremely annoyed. So she decided to go downstairs and see what King was doing down there.

As soon as she came down the stairs, she saw King working extremely hard. He was cleaning at the speed of a rank IV cultivator, not just doing it for show.

It wasn’t that King enjoyed cleaning, but he didn’t want to waste too much time. Once he dealt with this quickly, he still had to go to the library to look for information.

There were plenty of necessary supplies in the house’s storage room, so King just went ahead and cleaned. It didn’t take long before the living room looked much more presentable.

But the only problem with the living room wasn’t that it was dirty. Once something was broken, simply wiping it down or spraying some perfume couldn’t make it go back to how it was.

The tiles were shattered, the walls were cracked, and some of the furniture was damaged to varying degrees...

These things really weren’t something just anyone could fix. Those shattered tiles could only be replaced. There was no way to repair them.

"Hey, this is all I can do. For the rest, call someone to fix it. If you don’t want to pay, I’ll pay."

With a black card that let him spend however he wanted, King sounded much more confident when he spoke.

Before transmigrating, he had never had the chance to spend a large amount of money without having to think twice like this.

"Hmm. Why are you in such a hurry? Is there something you want to do?"

"I want to go to the library..."

King wanted to say that he wanted to learn how to fly, but he stopped there. Wouldn’t saying that expose the fact that he was the ’most incompetent’ rank IV cultivator because he didn’t know how to fly yet? That wouldn’t do.

It had been a few days since he started cheating his way through continuous breakthroughs. It had been that long, yet he still didn’t know how to fly, which made him feel extremely embarrassed.

Any normal person in this world who knew what King was thinking would definitely curse.

Reaching rank IV within a few days and still calling himself ’incompetent’, then all the other cultivators would be garbage. And not just ordinary garbage, but the kind that couldn’t be recycled and harmed the environment.

"Don’t think too much. I’m just bored and want to take a look at human knowledge. Reading books is a good thing."

If he had just stopped there, it would’ve been fine. But now King hurriedly added this, which only exposed even more clues for Iris to see.

"Hehehe..."

"What’s so funny?"

The sound of Iris’s laughter made King feel like something was seriously wrong. It felt like he was about to have his ’earth-shattering’ secret exposed.

"Nothing. I just realized I’ve never seen you fly before. You don’t know how to fly, do you? Tsk tsk tsk..."

"Shut up!"

Before she could even finish, King had already shouted.

"Don’t make things up and lie. I can even teleport to another world. How could I not know how to fly? I want to read books. I’m simply going there to read books."

His tone was forceful, but the few twitches of his eyelids betrayed what he was really thinking.

"Alright, alright. If you want to read books, then go ahead and read. But if you want me to show you the way, first tell me what you’ve been doing all this time."

Iris stopped teasing him and asked about the main issue instead. It had only been two months since they last met, yet King’s strength had improved tremendously, making her a little curious about what he had been doing.

"Sure. That world is called Arcane Dominion..."

This wasn’t an unreasonable request, so King immediately agreed. Even if she hadn’t asked, he would have found a chance to brag about his glorious achievements in another world anyway.

Iris listened attentively. Before she knew it, she had become engrossed in King’s embellished story as if she were listening to a novel.

King’s journey was extraordinary to begin with. Through his own telling, it became even more extraordinary.

But as for details that weren’t convenient to mention, such as Seraphine, King only gave a brief account and left most of them out.

"Good, rank IV. That makes sense, but you’ll definitely level up more slowly next time. I didn’t know there was such an interesting world. I wonder what mages there use to fly? Brooms?"

After hearing him finish, Iris muttered to herself and laughed. She hadn’t expected listening to him tell a story to be this interesting.

It was interesting enough that she knew for sure quite a few parts had been exaggerated, but King still explained the truly important parts very clearly.

As for Seraphine, King described her so briefly that it was as if she were just an NPC who appeared for a few seconds.
