Chapter 42 - Run!
Chapter 42: 42 - Run!
The extreme hatred in Rudy’s bloodshot eyes was now beyond measure. Watching the heads of his younger clansmen, whom he had poured his heart into nurturing, fall from their necks one after another, his heart felt as if it had been pierced by a thousand arrows.
This time, he already knew that mobilizing the entire force would result in heavy casualties, but he had never imagined they would be slaughtered like this.
Not long ago, Rudy was the one who discovered this dungeon. Although he had not fought Cerberus, he had enough knowledge to estimate its strength. After considering it for some time, he decided to use the full strength of the clan as he did today to prevent others from snatching the opportunity from them.
But no matter how much he calculated, he could never have predicted that someone wielding a sword powerful enough to overturn their worldview would appear. King’s close-combat ability was not something mages like them could compare to.
Rudy had shouted quickly just now, but compared to King’s sword, he was still a little too slow. King had more than enough time to rush forward and slash another mage across the chest.
"Hmph, with just you lot, you still dream of escaping?"
Continuously killing people, but King’s eyes remained as cold as ice even as hot blood stuck to his face. Yet his actions were still extremely ’humane’.
Although in his mind, he only thought that he was erasing the hateful ’lines of text’, his movements were extremely decisive. King could have heavily wounded them without killing them so they would have to suffer, but he did not do so.
King himself had never been someone who enjoyed killing people for fun. He acted quickly because his goal was very simple: ’erase’. King did not want to see them, so he used the fastest speed possible to make them ’disappear’.
"Bastard!!!"
Rudy screamed so loudly that his voice became hoarse. Tears filled with hatred continuously streamed from the corners of his eyes.
His trembling hands unconsciously clenched tightly. His nails dug deep into his flesh, causing blood to stain the entire wand red.
"I don’t understand pig noises. If you want to talk, speak human language."
Just now, he had clearly been slashing people with incredible speed, yet King stopped just to look at Rudy and the mages who had been scared out of their wits. This overly confident action was a direct stomp on the dignity of the entire Grey clan.
By saying this, King was completely denying everything Rudy had said until now. It was as if he had just been mumbling to the air all this time, since no one had actually cursed at him.
This kind of thinking was indeed a little problematic, but it did not matter. King was the reader, the one experiencing the ’work’. His feelings were what mattered, not the thoughts of the author or these damn ’lines of text’.
Faced with this absolute look of contempt, all the mages felt their faces burning as if someone had slapped them. As long as they survived, they would absolutely never forget this humiliation.
Their group had thirteen people in total. There were seven people on King’s side, while Rudy’s side had six people. Thirteen people had entered without accomplishing anything, and now only eight remained.
On King’s side, only two mages remained, one of whom was rank III. These two were definitely going to die. Even if they wanted to save them, they were powerless to do so.
Even though his heart was bleeding, Rudy knew that this mistake would definitely cost them an extremely heavy price. In such a narrow space, facing a close-combat monster like King, they would definitely suffer a crushing defeat. Now, they could only decisively injure themselves to find a way to survive.
"Use everything you’ve got and attack straight ahead! Smash him along with this entire corridor for me!"
Rudy shouted. Lightning from his wand transformed into the phantom of a huge, vicious snake and charged toward King. This was the strongest move he could use at this moment with wide-area offensive power.
The others seemed extremely unwilling to accept this. Their resentful eyes looked at King and two people from their own clan, the two close siblings who were about to fall under their own attack.
But they knew that no matter how uncomfortable they felt, they had to follow Rudy’s orders if they wanted a chance to survive against the ferocious enemy in front of them.
"How dare you!"
The rank III mage angrily unleashed ice magic in the shape of a furious eagle, sending it straight toward the group. As a core member of the clan, his status was extraordinary. He originally thought he had come here today to try his luck, never expecting to be betrayed.
This betrayal was indeed necessary for the clan to have a chance to continue existing, but how could the betrayed person possibly be happy about it?
Not only him, but the rank II mage beside him, who used wind magic, also unleashed a spell toward Rudy. It seemed that after being betrayed, the two of them were so shocked that they had completely forgotten who the real enemy was.
Of course, the two of them alone could not withstand the full-force attacks of all six people. And they did not need to block them because King did not care about these attacks at all.
"You two pieces of trash don’t need to waste your strength like this."
King’s voice was low and calm, but his movements were incredibly fast. The Heavenly Dao Sword swept past and severed the head of the rank II mage before he could even blink.
His other hand quickly grabbed the neck of the unsuspecting rank III mage and used his body as a shield in front of himself.
The enormous mana force erupted, combining with a series of reactions between the elements to create a terrifying explosion that completely destroyed this dark corridor.
The unlucky rank III mage was blown apart so thoroughly that not even a single complete piece remained.
King was far too angry now to care about whether he was dirty or clean. His entire body was covered in blood and dirt, making him look like a madman who not only killed his enemies but also bathed in their blood.
Broken bricks and large rocks with nowhere left to cling to fell everywhere like rain. The stone floor exploded, sending debris flying everywhere and making King have a hard time keeping his balance.
"Run!"
Right after unleashing his ultimate move, Rudy immediately shouted a decisive command. The mages instantly turned around and ran for their lives.
