Chapter 33: 33 - Going Deeper into the Dungeon

King did not bother waiting for Elias’s answer and immediately walked away, leaving Elias stunned for a few seconds before smiling.

At first, King had only come here to complete a mission and look at everything through the eyes of a reader. Now, King finally had the feeling of actually joining an adventure alongside a protagonist.

Compared to just ’watching’, wasn’t immersing himself in an adventure much more interesting? This world might only be fictional, but King’s experience was real.

"Wait a bit. I need to pick up some things."

As he spoke, Elias hurriedly bent down to pick up a few things and stuff them into his clothes. His backpack was broken now, so he could only keep a few things that he felt were truly necessary.

"Tsk, hurry up. How dare a ’mere’ protagonist ask the great reader to wait?"

King clicked his tongue and grinned right after. His mood was more relaxed than before, so he felt happy without even having to do anything.

His arrogance naturally would not disappear just because King’s mind was more relaxed. He kept his original pace, ignoring Elias, who was still fumbling around on the ground.

As he walked, King thought about a few deeper things... More specifically, about the ’abyss’ in the middle of Iris’s chest and Emily’s beauty. Putting aside their personalities, both of them were extremely pleasing to King’s eyes.

Damn! What am I thinking? If I want to build a harem now, Iris will probably slash me to death. A harem is a must, but I need to wait until I have enough strength first.

After lowering the barrier of status himself, King immediately thought about this issue. It was normal for a hot-blooded young man to desire a harem, so there was nothing to be embarrassed about.

The novels King had read with harem elements numbered in the thousands. Just reading them already felt incredibly satisfying, so experiencing it for real would definitely feel even better.

Moreover, having been born in a country that only allowed one husband and one wife, King felt that having a harem full of beautiful women was also a kind of showing off.

For him, this was definitely an experience he should have if he ever transmigrated. Of course, the prerequisite was having enough strength. If you’re just a weakling, go hide under your blanket and sleep instead of looking for a way to get yourself killed.

King was so immersed in his desires that he did not notice Elias had caught up with him. The lecherous grin on his face at this moment also startled Elias a little.

This was definitely the face of someone thinking about something bad, not the face of a good person.

But as long as King did not interfere with Elias becoming the greatest mage, Elias did not care. Besides, King had helped him a lot and was still helping him now, so Elias thought there might be something wrong with King’s head, but he was not a bad person.

In front of them was a pitch-dark corridor, with torches flickering on both walls, their red-orange flames only bright enough to illuminate sections of the cold stone.

After walking a little farther, the structure of the corridor was clearly completely different. The stone slabs beneath their feet were arranged into neat squares in a suspicious way.

On both sides of the walls, cracks between the stones, round holes that would let anyone know there was a trap ahead... If they paid attention.

King was now so immersed in his happy ideas that he had completely forgotten reality. His footsteps did not slow down in the slightest, making the system panic.

[Master! There’s a trap ahead!]

The system used max volume, but it could not get through to King at all. Just as King was about to step onto the suspicious stone, Elias grabbed his clothes to stop him from walking to his death.

The moment he touched King’s robe, Elias thought he had succeeded, but he had underestimated King’s strength.

Not only did he fail to make King stop, but Elias was also dragged along by King and almost fell down. A click came from the stone King had just stepped on, signaling the beginning of a series of mistakes...

"System, Elias. Are you two idiots? Could it be that it’s too dark here, so you can’t see that all the traps have already been activated?"

King was completely clear-headed as he pointed ahead. It turned out that even though he was busy thinking about random things, he was not completely out of it.

Elias and the system followed the direction King pointed and saw spikes coming out of the ground, sharp iron spears embedded in the walls, several pits...

Many different kinds of traps, along with dozens of white skeletons wearing outfits that looked like knights or something similar. Only now did they realize that a huge team had once entered this dark corridor and all the traps had already been activated.

The dungeon still existed until now, which meant the treasure had not been taken and this group of people had all died.

Judging from the condition of the skeletons, they had died quite a few years ago. No one could survive in a dungeon for years because there was no food inside.

Eating fantastic beasts was a crazy thing to do, especially eating them raw. It was even more dangerous than drinking potions and did not offer any great benefits to make up for it. More importantly, there were not enough of them to eat for years anyway.

"Oh, my bad. And who is the system?"

Elias frowned but did not bother looking around. This was not the first time King had talked to some invisible person who was not him right in front of him.

"Think of the system as my ability. It gives me power and takes me to other worlds, including this world."

"I see."

King gave a casual introduction, and Elias also gave a casual nod. A magical system that everyone would want was not something worth caring about to these two ’strange’ minds.

There were no more traps along the corridor, so King and Elias no longer had anything to pay attention to. As they leisurely moved forward, Elias tried to see if any mage had died here and left behind a wand for him to use temporarily, but unfortunately, there was none.

A group of armed people entering a dungeon would definitely have followed the guidance of at least one mage. Elias was certain that if he kept moving forward, he would find a wand to use.
