Chapter 15: 15 - Live with Me

Both of them knew that King was short on money, but Adrian’s way of handling it was clearly much better than Iris’s. Iris only knew about it and didn’t really care, while Adrian immediately hit his weak spot to increase his favorability.

Even though Iris was the one who met King first, at this moment, Adrian clearly had a higher position in his heart.

This was exactly the kind of sugar daddy anyone would dream of meeting, so how could he hate him?

The fact that Adrian gave King money using such a clumsy excuse made him like Adrian even more whenever he thought back on it.

Even though Iris was fighting Kenji, she could still observe what was happening below. Her expression immediately turned ugly.

"Damn old man! How dare you steal this from me?"

In the middle of the intense fight, she suddenly turned her head away and shouted. This action made Kenji’s eyelids twitch slightly because he felt looked down on.

"Bastard! You only broke through to rank VI not long ago, and you dare to act so cocky? We’re fighting, and you don’t even bother looking at me. What do you mean by that?"

His hand tightened around the katana’s hilt, and his muscles tensed along with it. Kenji’s spiritual power suddenly burst out and pushed Iris back.

"Shut up! You’re just a measly rank V, and you dare act cocky in front of me? When I was still rank V, my win rate was already one hundred percent. Now that I’m fighting you, I don’t even need to look to win."

Her spiritual power erupted like a fierce flame, causing the little advantage Kenji had just gained to disappear instantly.

Although the muscles in her arms looked much smaller than Kenji’s, cultivators couldn’t be judged by their appearance. This was only how she looked on the outside. A rank VI’s life level was higher than a rank V’s, so Kenji had no way to compare with her.

"Hey! Are you pretending to be deaf?"

Perhaps because she was angry, she used a little too much force, causing the spiritual power clashing between the two of them to shoot out a massive wave of energy straight toward the palace roof.

A crackling sound like electric sparks suddenly appeared beside King’s ear, while Adrian’s figure was nowhere to be seen.

In the blink of an eye, he was already standing on the roof of the palace. His sharp eyes stared straight at the incoming wave of energy.

Adrian’s entire body was now covered in strands of electricity that looked thin but possessed extremely violent power. Even the blade drawn from its sheath had added light and electric spark effects, causing Adrian’s coolness in King’s eyes to skyrocket.

A sword qi slash carrying powerful electrical force as fierce as thunder collided head-on with the violent wave of energy.

The explosion roared like thunder, releasing a shockwave that made all of King’s hair stand on end. The small ponds decorating the palace also simultaneously surged with huge waves, causing water to splash everywhere.

"Damn, so this is the importance of visual effects. Later, when I transform into the Heavenly Dao Swordsman state, I definitely need to add lots of auras."

Adrian’s insanely cool display made King stare without wanting to miss a single detail. Showing off like this was definitely worth learning from.

With the system’s help, even before he had started, King already knew that he would become invincible in the future. Since he was going to be invincible, he had to know how to show off in a way that matched his status.

"Have you had enough? You’re not children, so why do you like making such a fuss? If you don’t care about your own faces, at least care about the academy’s face. Thousands of people down there are watching you."

Adrian angrily scolded Iris and Kenji. These two were already old enough, yet they kept causing unnecessary trouble for him.

In the past, things were less troublesome because they were weak and the palace had been built extremely sturdily. As time passed, they became stronger and stronger at a speed that no ordinary material could keep up with, giving Adrian a headache whenever they fought near the palace.

This palace wasn’t simply expensive, it also represented the highest authority of the Cultivation Academy. If the two of them destroyed it, it would cause a lot of unnecessary trouble.

"Hmph, don’t change the subject with me."

Iris snorted and suddenly turned around. This time, she didn’t even bother using her sword, instead using the true strength of a rank VI cultivator to kick Kenji’s chin, sending him flying straight into the sky.

"Bastard! You have no martial ethics!"

Kenji angrily cursed out loud. The two of them had been going back and forth until now, but they had still kept their strength within the rank V range. He thought Iris wanted to have a ’fair’ fight, but who would have thought she would directly use her rank VI strength to end the fight in an instant.

After kicking him into the sky, Iris didn’t bother looking at him anymore and immediately appeared in front of Adrian.

Looking at the way she held the flaming sword in her hand, Adrian felt like she was actually planning to slash him.

"Hey, attacking an old man isn’t exactly a glorious thing to do. Go find someone younger to fight."

Adrian didn’t specifically name anyone, but how many young people were there? Other than Kenji, who had been kicked into the sky, there was only King.

"Hmph, looking down on my intelligence with a trick like this is going too far. I can overlook you giving him money, but he has to live with me."

Iris had only acted fierce just now because of this matter. King had pissed her off so many times, so of course she couldn’t let someone else steal him away.

An old man as experienced as Adrian naturally understood what she meant. After all, he had never intended to take King as his disciple, so there was no reason for him to argue.

"Sure. King was ’invited’ here by you, so it’s reasonable for you to take care of him. But I don’t think he looks like he wants to take you as his master."

With normal thinking, Adrian assumed Iris wanted to personally train someone stronger than herself. Based on his actual observations, he felt that with King’s arrogance right now, no matter who came, they couldn’t become his master.

Was the reason Iris wanted to keep King by her side so she could become his master? It had been before, but not anymore.

One rather childish reason was that she wanted to keep King by her side so she would have more chances to get revenge for the things he had done to her.

The other serious reason was that she was the best person to protect King and give him enough time to grow up safely in this world.
