Chapter 2270: Wow, that was generic.
Chapter 2270: Wow, that was generic.
Sarovan was a High Level World near the centre of the Universe. It was known for its loyalty towards Light and had thrived for millions of years.
Sarovan’s sky never dimmed, even at midnight, the clouds had a soft, peaceful glow. Light Temples floated here like islands, rivers ran in perfect lines, it was… a world that felt… perfect.
High above the capital, on a balcony carved from dawnstone, Archon Sarovan stood with his hands behind his back.
Archon was a Sephkin—a tall, winged race. His wings were not feathers, but layered plates of shining crystal, his eyes were white-gold, and a thin halo-ring hovered behind his head.
As a Leader of a High Level World, Archon was obviously an Eternal. He wasn’t known for his strength when compared to other Eternals throughout the Universe,
But in his own World, he was Absolute.
A being who had ruled for millions of years, a rule so absolute that in his entire life, he had never once considered the possibility of someone challenging him.
He had only surrendered once in his entire life, and that was when the beings of Light appeared in his world for the very first time. It was one of the quickest decisions he had made.
The Auras those beings released were far worse than anything he had felt. Surrendering was the only possible way out.
And Archon was proud of that.
Why wouldn’t he be?
Because the moment he surrendered, he too had the Power of Light in his palms, his status elevated to the point that even beings stronger than him did not challenge him.
And all he had to do in return was stay loyal to Light.
An easy decision when he gained power and freedom in return.
Today, however, something was different.
Today was… a bad day.
And Archon realized it when he sensed the space around him being sealed. He frowned. For the next few milliseconds, he believed it was his mistake, that he had sensed wrong.
After all, the World’s Will hadn’t reacted yet. According to it, other than his subordinates, there were no beings around, and… the World’s Will had never been wrong.
But then—
Something he simply could not ignore happened.
The moment he turned around, a thin line appeared in the air right in front of him.
A crack in space.
And the next instant—
The crack widened.
The space was torn open and…
Someone walked out with a look so casual that it looked like he owned the place.
A ridiculously handsome human with dark hair, a loose open shirt, bare chest, and sharp, hypnotic golden eyes.
A man no being in the entire Universe would fail to recognize.
A man who challenged the Four Infinities all on his own.
A man who… the entire Universe feared, hated and… respected.
The Anomaly.
He smiled like he had arrived at a party.
“You…”
Archon’s jaw tightened, his eyes burning in rage.
“A filth like you dares to step into my world.”
His wings flared, those crystal plates clicking softly like a weapon being assembled.
Nux didn’t care. He just looked around, like a tourist visiting a new place.
“Your world looks… expensive.”
He commented.
No one knew if it was a compliment or an insult.
But Archon did not care.
He lifted his hand and a circle of Light formed behind him, turning into six spear-like rays.
“Leave.”
He commanded in a firm tone, it was clear he wouldn’t be taking no for an answer.
“Or you will be erased.”
Nux looked at him, impressed.
“Wow, that was generic.
Cringy too, to be honest.
Do you not feel embarrassed when you say stuff like that?”
He asked, and from his expression, it felt like he genuinely wanted to know the answer.
And this time, Archon did not reply. Just the first exchange was enough for him to realize that wasting words on this being was foolish.
He struck first.
Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh
The six rays shot forward like beams, bending the very space around them. Before Nux could react or prepare to dodge them, they split into thousands of smaller knives of Light, aiming for Nux’s heart, throat, eyes, every supposedly weak point of a human body at once.
An attack that should kill a human in one go.
Archon wasn’t holding back from the beginning; his intention was clear.
The knives reached Nux.
And then…
They stopped.
Mid-air, trembling as if they had hit an invisible wall.
And from the start to finish, Nux did not move. He simply looked at the knives in front of him with a bored look on his face and—
He flicked his finger.
The knives turned back.
Archon narrowed his eyes as his knives rushed toward him at the same speed, the same perfect angles, the same intent.
The only difference was that this time, they were aiming at Sephkin’s weakness.
And that alone was enough for Archon to understand that the enemy had done his research. Sephkin, unlike humans, were a rare race. They were only seen at Sarovan and nowhere else.
For one to know about their weakness…
Prior research was necessary.
Archon twisted his wrist and formed a shield of Light and—
BOOOOOM
The knives struck.
The shield held, but the impact forced Archon’s feet to slide across the stone balcony.
And Archon’s face turned solemn.
The exchange alone was enough for him to realize that the enemy was not weak, not even a bit. The rumours were true—the Anomaly was strong enough to defeat Eternals too.
But Archon did not give up. His pride did not allow him to. A being who had ruled his world for millions of years had… a strange level of arrogance, and this was especially true for Archon.
“Oh? You aren’t going to call for reinforcements?
This is usually the moment your lot realize that they aren’t chosen ones like they thought they were.”
Nux commented, somewhat surprised.
And Archon—
Archon’s pride rose like a flame.
Flap
He spread his crystal wings and jumped into the air, reaching above the capital in a split second. His figure from above seemed like a small sun and—
“Judgment!”
He declared.
A massive seal formed under him, covering the entire sky and Sarovan’s Will reacted under his command.
Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh
Columns of holy fire fell toward Nux like rain. Nux watched the sight with amusement.
“That’s pretty.”
He chuckled, his grin widening further when he saw Archon’s eyes twitch.
Teasing the enemy was fun; it always has been.
Then, Nux finally moved and took a step forward.
The columns bent away from him, sliding past his shoulders, past his hair, past the open collar of his shirt as if they… refused to touch him.
Archon wasn’t surprised. Even if he was, he didn’t show it. He dropped down, crossing the distance in an instant and swung his arm.
A blade of Light formed around his forearm.
A blade that was strong enough to cut literal worlds.
That Light blade dashed forward at an unbelievable speed, aiming at Nux’s neck, but Nux…
He just tilted his head slightly, as if planning to dodge the blade, but it was too slow. The blade was made of Light and Light was… ridiculously fast.
Nux’s reaction was simply too slow.
The blade passed through his neck, severing his head from his body. A clear line, a gap was seen between his head and the rest of his body.
A sight that sent a wave of joy through Archon’s body, but after the joy came… confusion.
That was it?
That was… the Anomaly?
The being the entire Universe was terrified of?
And after confusion came doubt.
And the doubt only got stronger when Archon noticed something else.
Humans… were supposed to bleed.
He had severed the man’s head from his body but…
There was no blood.
And that was when Nux smiled at him, and his entire body disappeared, as if it was an illusion from the beginning.
Archon’s doubt instantly turned into wariness. The Sephkin Progenitor realized that this wasn’t over and prepared for the Anomaly’s next move, expanding his senses, making sure he wasn’t caught by surprise.
And then—
A hand tapped on his shoulder from behind.
Without turning, Archon knew it was him and he…
He froze.
How could he not?
The enemy had stepped behind him with such ease and he… he couldn’t react to it at all. If the enemy wanted, he could have launched a lethal attack and… this battle might have ended here.
A cold sweat dropped from his forehead when he thought about that possibility.
Nux, on the other hand, leaned closer to the frozen Progenitor and—
“Astaria and Vyriana would hate you, you know?”
He commented in an amused tone.
“You swing like you’ve never been hit before—”
BOOOM
Archon, not caring about Nux’s words, exploded with Light. A strong shockwave, strong enough to destroy buildings, burst outward. It tore the nearby clouds apart, smoke appeared everywhere, hindering one’s vision while Archon spun, facing the enemy and without waiting—
He swung his blade again, cutting the very space itself.
And this time, he struck something.
He was sure of it.
