Chapter 2081: The Plan.
Chapter 2081: The Plan.
“Let’s become terrorists.”
The Vampire suggested.
“What…?”
Ember blinked in surprise, unable to understand what she was talking about.
“An Anti-Supreme Group.”
Melia began.
“A group whose sole purpose is to eradicate the rule of the Supreme Worlds. A group that will show resistance to every single decision made by the Supreme Worlds. A group that will commit terror attacks to oppose them.”
“…how is that going to help us?”
The Dragon questioned.
“The Supreme Worlds have ordered the Mercenary Worlds to do their bidding, correct? The Anti-Supreme Group will destroy some of the most renowned Mercenary Worlds to announce to the Universe that they now stand against the Supreme Worlds and that everyone who aligns themselves with the Supreme Worlds will meet their end by our hands.
And of course, during this announcement and showmanship, it wouldn’t be very surprising if a Mercenary World like Nexus is targeted and destroyed, now would it?”
The Vampire explained and in an instant, the other eyes present here shined.
This… could be done.
Destroying Nexus alone would directly pull all attention towards it, but destroying several other groups and introducing a new organization would definitely cause enough distraction. At the very least, the investigation would be delayed by a few days, giving them the chance to get rid of Vexarion.
“But would Vexarion accept the battle after everything that’s happening?”
Suddenly, Lyriana asked another question.
“Why would he not? The Supreme Worlds’ announcement doesn’t change anything, does it? It is completely unrelated to everything happening between Khaemorr and Aurendor. If anything, their active participation might urge Vexarion to step forward and prove his worth to the Supreme Worlds when they are watching.”
Riona commented.
“I agree.”
Thyra nodded as well. The cat then pointed at Sharnoth and—
“Even she didn’t seem particularly bothered by their announcement until she realized it was connected to us. Vexarion won’t be an exception, he must be too busy thinking about how he is going to reap the rewards after killing her.
Not to mention he has already given seven high-level relics in exchange for this. Didn’t he only have twelve relics in total?
Someone as greedy as him would never back down when he gave up more than half of his wealth for this.”
She added, getting nods from the rest.
Yes, this indeed seemed like it was going to work. They simply needed to destroy enough Mercenary Worlds to cause confusion and terror.
Yes, the Supreme Worlds will take action against them, but that was bound to happen one day anyways. It doesn’t matter if it happens a little earlier than they had planned.
“Alright then,
It is decided.”
Nux nodded as well.
He glanced at Sharnoth, who looked at him with a determined look on her face. He smiled and nodded at her, the Queen nodded back.
“If there is anything I can do, please, do not hesitate to say the word. I will do whatever you want me to, even if it means I have to give away my life for it.”
“Giving your life away? Don’t you first want to get your revenge?”
Nux chuckled.
A complicated look appeared on her face when he said those words,
“…you have already done so much for me. I trust that if something happens to me, you will take my revenge in my place.
I just wish that if the situation comes down to it, you make his end as agony-filled as possible.”
She declared, once again finding the will to follow through with her words and laying down her life for him.
“Woman, stop raising flags when they are not necessary.”
“Flags…?”
Sharnoth frowned. She had no clue what he was talking about.
Nux just stared at her and sighed,
“I would very much prefer you to be alive for my own selfish reason,
So don’t you dare die on me, or I will do unthinkable things to your dead body.”
“W-What…?”
The Queen stuttered, taken aback by those words. Even the wives stared at their husband with strange looks on their faces when they heard those words.
“Dead body huh…
That sounds fun~”
Only Edda was brave enough to truly accept this, and Nux, who saw their reaction, quickly calmed them down,
“It was a joke, women.”
He even specifically looked at Edda and,
“Just a joke.”
He repeated, making sure the woman didn’t get any ideas.
Yes, even he was scared of his Edda.
“Anyways,”
Nux shook his head and turned towards Sharnoth,
“Don’t die.”
He commanded.
The Queen nodded,
“Now let’s come up with a detailed plan and take action.”
Nux announced and the rest of the women nodded,
And just then—
“Nux.”
Amaya called out.
“I have a plan.
Something better than this.”
The Devourer announced.
“What is it?”
Nux questioned and as he did, the Devourer stared at Sharnoth and… smirked.
…
As the Supreme Worlds’ announcement spread throughout the Universe, every Mercenary World panicked.
Even the strongest Mercenary Worlds were only Middle-Level Worlds, so the recent Universe’s Reaction had done a considerable amount of damage in these worlds. The World Stabilizing Artifacts that they had prepared were rendered useless. Because of this, things were already extremely chaotic as almost all the buildings had collapsed, giving headaches to the higher-ups.
However, things became even messier after the Supreme Worlds’ announcement. After all, the strongest in the Universe were directly addressing them and had given them an ultimatum.
It meant that they not only had to deal with the deaths and destruction caused by the Universe’s reaction, they also had to gather all the information the Supreme Worlds had requested and report it to them.
What’s even worse?
The required information was related to the Black Mission that had stained almost every single Mercenary Guild’s reputation. A mission that no one dared to take, and those who did—their Mercenary Guilds made sure to hide that information so as not to incur the Supreme Worlds’ wrath.
After all, failure in this mission meant that they would be raising its difficulty even further. No Mercenary Guild wanted others to know that they did it.
And of course, now that the Supreme Worlds had personally summoned the Mercenary World Leaders to give the report, it meant that these leaders had no choice but to find out information that had been hidden for tens of thousands of years.
And no, it wasn’t an easy task. After all, most mercenaries were at Sovereign Stage with lifespans of around ten thousand years. The employees working at Mercenary Halls weren’t any different.
If the information was hidden, it meant there were no written documents of it. It could only be extracted through testimonies but…
How was one supposed to get testimonies from employees who died thousands of years ago?
It was an incredibly difficult task that required extensive search. For the Mercenary Halls that were known for their disorganization and messy state, this was even more difficult. It was almost an impossible task.
What’s worse?
This task needed to be done in less than a day so that leaders could leave and submit these reports before the required time.
Every single Mercenary World was in chaos, so much that no new mercenary missions were being taken or submitted. These worlds had stopped functioning entirely without exception and every mercenary employee was busy collecting information regarding the Black Mission.
The streets of these worlds were filled with crime. With leaders all busy, no one regulated the mercenaries—murder and rape became commonplace. Within just a few hours of the Supreme Worlds’ announcement, things had deteriorated for the worse.
Of course, Nexus was no different.
The Middle-Level Mercenary World was the same. Inside one of its Mercenary Guilds known as the Fortune’s Call,
A woman barged into her superior’s office with a big file in her hand and—
“Lord Simba…”
She called out.
In front of her sat an exhausted-looking being with the giant head of a lion. Yes, he was Simba. The once strong-looking Primordial now looked weak.
Not because Primordials didn’t feel much these days, just that… he was too exhausted.
He was honestly losing his mind. However, when the man’s eyes fell on the three-eyed, orange-skinned woman who had walked in, he regained some of his composure and—
“Arshia.”
He greeted lightly.
“What are we going to do?”
Arshia questioned with a worried look on her face.
“I do not know. I have been going through the Guild’s archives to find some hints regarding the missing information. I still need more time.”
Simba shook his head.
“That is not what I am talking about.
I am asking what are we going to do about ’him’.”
Arshia questioned, recalling the man who once turned everything around.
“…”
Simba’s face turned solemn when he heard those words.
There were no documents regarding ’that’ incident, neither official nor unofficial. ’That’ incident was slowly but completely erased from everyone’s memories because that was what they were ordered to do by ’her’.
But now…
“…what else?
We report the truth.”
“Oh? Will you now?”
…
A/N:
*Arshia*
