Chapter 1717 The Reaper’s Veil.

“You, kid, I like you!”

Then he placed his finger on the table and,

“However, I still cannot let you take the Mission!”

Nux frowned,

“Why is that?”

“Because it is pointless!

“You are saying that even without letting me see the details of the mission?”

“Yes.

As I said, I like the way you think.

You will make it big in the Mercenary World, but for that, you need to survive, and going on this mission wouldn’t make that happen!”

“Let me see the mission first, I’ll be the one to decide.”

Nux insisted.

The Lion Head stared at him for a while, then, he sighed.

Suddenly, a bundle of papers appeared in front of him.

Nux frowned; he wanted to see only one mission, not a bunch of them. However, the moment he read those papers, he realized this bundle was one single mission,

The Black Mission.

And the more details he read, the more solemn his expression became.

“The Reaper’s Veil!

Suddenly, the Lion Head started.

He stared at. Nux and continued,

“That’s the mission’s name.

Thousands of years ago, there was a Iligh-Level World named Umbrasol. The beings of Umbrasol were feared; even amongst the High-Level Worlds, it was quite strong. Not many forces could go against this world at that time.

Most beings of Umbrasol were born with Eclipse Bone Physique, a physique that makes it easier for them to access the Energy of Death.

These beings studied Essence of Death, mastering the Laws related to Death, becoming a force so strong that even the four Supreme Worlds recognized them for their strength.

However, these beings didn’t stop.

Their goal was much higher than anyone thought; they wanted to be recognized as the Fifth Supreme World.

Of course, since their world’s energy was limited, this wasn’t possible, but not giving up, they came up with a method.

Gathering Master Craftsmen from all over the Universe, they invented an Artifact called Necrocore- a Core that could store the Energy of Death.

The Energy of Death could be gathered from deaths. If there were enough deaths, they could gather any amount of energy they wanted.

Or at least that is what they thought.

So they started artificially gathering the Energy of Death, storing it inside the Core, and once they collected enough, they wanted their world to use that energy to upgrade itself.

Of course, the plan itself would take millions of years, however, it didn’t matter.

Everything was going fine, the beings of Umbrasol gathered more and more energy, but then, something happened.

The energy they had been gathering for hundreds of thousands of years started leaking. The beings of Umbrasol tried to control it, but the energy was much more rampant than they expected. The amount of energy gathered was so high that even the beings who excelled in Death couldn’t control it anymore.

The energy was released, surrounding the entirety of Umbrasol, devouring all the Life Force present in that place. Within a few days, Umbrasol-a once-thriving world-became a barren place with no living entity inside

Everyone was killed; only the strongest being, their Leader, managed to leave. However, even his Life Force was devoured, and he didn’t have long to live. In his last moments, he explained the tragedy to his allies and passed.

At first, not many cared. After all, Umbrasol was already destroyed; even if they were allies, there was no point caring about an ally who was already dead, and they were the ones who brought it upon themselves in the first place.

However, after some time, the Death Energy that had surrounded Umbrasol started getting stronger.

It was to the point where it started leaking out, leaving Umbrasol’s boundaries. At first, the Universal Energy surrounding Umbrasol managed to stop it. However, the ever-growing Death Energy couldn’t be stopped.

It started traveling through the Universe, reaching nearby worlds, devouring all the life it could find, and strengthening itself in the process.

Just like that, more and more worlds were devoured, sent to ruin.

Now, it wasn’t just Umbrasol’s problem; it had turned into a Universal Threat.

The Supreme Worlds had to intervene.

However, Death Energy was something not many beings understood; it had the power to kill even the immortals, so even the Supreme Worlds had to tread carefully.

In the end, the four Supreme Worlds decided that it was better to devour the world. Once Umbrasol, the source of the rampant Death Energy, disappeared, the Death Energy would obviously disappear

as well.

So they sent their armies to conquer the world. Of course, since it was only just an empty world, one simply had to go there, find the World’s Core, and devour it.

It sounded simple enough.

However…

The army sent by the Four Supreme Worlds didn’t return.

Another army was sent, but their fate was the same. S~eaʀᴄh the NôᴠelFirё.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

More and more armies were sent, with each army stronger than before-even Eternals were sent. It was then,

The Eternal who was sent in the most recent conquest returned, his face pale, body filled with Death Energy. His organs were giving out, his blood had diluted, his Life Force was depleted. Honestly, not even a High-Level World would have enough resources to save him, but fortunately, he was from a Supreme-Level World, and he also had a bit of a background, so he was saved.

Well… at least his life was prolonged for ten more years…”

“Ten years?”

“He passed away after that; the Death Energy had seeped too deep inside his body, there was no way

to save him.”

“Even an Eternal failed…?”

Riona couldn’t believe it.

How much stronger was an Eternal compared to them?

He was three Phases above them!

That being could kill the likes of them with a snap of his finger!

“Why do you think we abandoned this mission?”

The Lion Head snorted.

Nux, however, narrowed his eyes.

“If an Eternal failed, what even gave you the confidence that your Mercenaries could do something

about it?

There must be something that made you think you could do it, no?”

“I knew you weren’t simple.

The Lion Head laughed.

“We took the mission because of the information he passed before he died!
