Chapter 102: The Beginning of a New Life

  • Next Chapter

Victor was sitting silently at the window of his room.

Outside, the sun had already been up for a while. The Golden SUN flashed all over the garden, illuminating the grass and flowers.

Birds chirped from the trees.

A faint whisper of a breeze softly entered the window and was felt against your skin.

Victor closed his eyes for a moment.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"A week..."

It had already been a week since his birth.

He sat back in the chair and gazed at the ceiling.

Seven days.

It didn’t sound like much.

And some part of him knew that in those seven days he had been living a life entirely different from his own.

His thoughts naturally drifted back to Earth.

Back then, he had been nothing special.

Just an ordinary college student.

He had fret over the exams, the cash, his tasks and all the other minor problems that felt like a big deal at the time.

He was near desperation to keep himself from going broke.

And, if he were to be totally truthful, he had pondered more than a few nights about what it would feel like to actually have a girlfriend.

Someone who actually would give him a second glance.

Victor couldn’t help but laugh quietly.

If my former self could see me now...

He shook his head.

That guy would never accept all this.

How could he?

Victor was just Earth normal a week ago.

And now he was living in a world of cultivation and magic.

He had a mysterious system and it could reward him better than he would have ever imagined.

And, somehow, five beautiful women had come into his life.

More importantly, they genuinely cared about him.

That thought alone still felt strange sometimes.

Victor lowered his gaze toward the garden.

He had gradually adapted himself to his new circumstances.

At first, everything had felt unreal.

The unfamiliar surroundings.

The strange powers.

The cultivation.

The people around him.

Nothing was too insignificant to remind him that he was no longer on Earth.

But that feeling had gradually faded.

His mornings had become peaceful.

He would wake up to the sound of nature.

Birds singing outside.

Leaves rustling in the breeze.

The silent, occasional voices of family somewhere in the distance beyond the room.

Those mornings had been warm and he’d never noticed it until now.

His everyday life would tend to revolve around both farming and developing his martial arts skills.

There was always something new to learn.

Something new to understand.

And whenever he needed a break, he’d play a game of chess with Skyla and Lane.

Those games had become a little bit of a nice part of his lifestyle.

Skyla was clever.

Lane was surprisingly competitive.

Neither of them liked losing.

Victor had learned that the hard way.

He could not help but smile again as he recollected the rows they had held at the chess board.

The evenings were different.

Those were the ones that he enjoyed most.

Family dinners.

Simple conversations.

Laughter.

Sometimes they talked about cultivation.

Sometimes they talked about completely meaningless things.

It didn’t matter.

Finally, for the first time in a long time, Victor had friends that made him feel like he had a home somewhere.

That was hard to describe.

But he knew he treasured it.

And then came the nights.

Victor’s expression became slightly awkward.

His relationship with Lane had also developed significantly over the week.

They’d been studying the Genesis Dual Cultivation Scripture together.

It wasn’t simply about gaining strength.

It had brought them so much closer in ways neither of them could have anticipated.

They understood each other better now.

Their cultivation had improved.

And, more significantly, their trust in each other had increased.

Victor let out a quiet breath.

A week.

Only one week.

Yet so much had changed.

He had changed.

The ache of losing his old world was gone.

Sometimes, even when everything was quiet, he remembered Earth.

His old room.

His college.

The familiar streets.

The people he had known.

Those memories still existed somewhere inside him.

He doubted they would ever completely disappear.

But the pain wasn’t as sharp anymore.

Maybe that was because he had finally found something new to grab on to.

A new home.

A new family.

People who depended on him.

People he wanted to protect.

Victor had turned his head and was staring back out the window.

The garden was shining in the morning sun.

Flowers swayed gently in the breeze.

Everything looked peaceful.

This is the first time ever that Victor’s footsteps would arrive in a world where he wasn’t the wandering soul looking in.

He felt like he belonged here.

Not because this world had selected him.

Perhaps because, little by little, he had been setting himself up for it too.

Smile Victor leaned his arm against the back of the chair.

I have a purpose here.

He had people waiting for him.

People who trusted him.

People who would stand beside him.

Now, he had the power to save them.

His life on Earth had been ordinary.

Maybe he had spent so long wanting for more that he never actually knew what more was.

Now he had it.

A strange world.

A mysterious system.

A family he never expected to have.

And a future that seemed far beyond anything he could have dreamed.

Victor quietly laughed.

"Maybe..."

He looked toward the golden sky.

"Maybe this is where I belong now."
