Supreme BeastTamer: I Can Copy and Upgrade Skills 10x!

Chapter 809 809: The Statue's History

Andre had known. He had known from the beginning, yet he acted oblivious, successfully fooling Nox into thinking he was in control.

A small smile slowly appeared on Serana’s face. There was no need for him to hide anymore. The cat was already out of the bag.

“I’m impressed,” Nox said, the smile still on Serana’s face. “I thought I copied all her mannerisms, but it seems I greatly underestimated you.”

“If it was anyone else, you would have fooled them successfully, but not me,” Andre replied as he walked toward the shore of the ocean, where the breeze was blowing fiercely.

It came as a shock to Nox that the king could turn his back on him despite knowing he was an enemy. Was he that confident in his abilities, or did he simply underestimate Nox that much?

‘I could strike him here and end this charade,’ he thought silently. However, he did not. Nox had been in his fair share of battles. In fact, he had been fighting ever since he came to this world. He had learned how to study his opponents, and Andre was not someone he could kill comfortably while using Serana’s body.

The only way he had a chance was to face him physically. Perhaps Andre also knew that there was little use in fighting Nox this way, as this was not even his real body in the first place.

“I’m curious though,” Andre said, now standing at the shore. Whenever a wave came close, it stopped a few meters away from his feet before retreating. “How did you manage to possess my daughter? Is it a Beast Tamer ability?”

“It’s a secret,” Nox replied. “I can’t share it with an outsider.”

“I see,” Andre said, not pressing him further as he returned his gaze to the vast expanse of the ocean stretching beyond sight.

In silence, Nox watched the scene. Again and again, the water halted just short of touching Andre’s feet, almost as if the ocean itself was afraid of him, or as if he knew precisely where to stand.

Nox slowly raised his head to look at him and spoke after a brief moment of hesitation. “I have a question.”

“Go ahead,” Andre replied calmly. “After all, you won’t be leaving this island with that information.”

For a Beast Tamer to have possessed his daughter, Andre was confident the act had occurred on this island. Serana had been perfectly fine until she left the castle earlier that day.

Nox had received many death threats before, and although this one sent a faint chill down his spine, he ignored it and proceeded.

“How did the statue get to this island?” he asked. He already had several theories, but none felt complete. He had considered asking Jack, but he doubted Jack knew much about it.

From the look of things, the statue had been there for many years. The person who would know its true origin was Andre himself.

Andre did not answer immediately. He remained facing the ocean, his posture relaxed, as if they were not standing before a chained goddess and an exposed enemy, but merely two men sharing an old story. The wind tugged lightly at his dark attire as the waves continued their strange behavior.

“The statue,” Andre finally said, his voice calm, “was already here when my ancestors arrived. This island was not discovered by chance, nor conquered through war. We were led here.”

Nox remained silent, giving him his full attention.

“Long before Imperia was founded, before the empire even had a name, my people were wanderers,” Andre continued. “They fled from the lands now known as Vermilion and Snowhelm, hunted because of their strange ability to possess multiple alter egos. The people of that era believed Imperians were demonic spawns of the devil. They were persecuted, driven away, starved, broken, and desperate. That was when she appeared.”

“She?” Nox asked, his tone filled with interest.

“A woman,” Andre replied. “She looked human, yet not entirely human. She walked across the sea as if it were solid ground. Her voice could be heard even through storms, and those who listened felt their fear fade. Some called her a prophet. Others believed she was a god who had taken mortal form.”

Andre paused briefly before continuing.

“She gathered my ancestors and led them here. This island did not exist on any map at the time. Ships could sail past it countless times without noticing it. But she brought them here by parting the ocean, creating a path that led directly to this island where we stand now.”

Nox’s eyes narrowed slightly. The story sounded strangely familiar, like something he had once heard back on Earth, though he could not fully remember it.

He did not interrupt, allowing Andre to continue.

“When they arrived,” Andre said, “the statue was already standing. Unchained. Untouched by time. The woman told them the truth of the world as it once was. She said that in ancient times, gods did not hide. They walked openly across Eos. They spoke to mortals. They fought wars that reshaped land and sea. And Terra was one of them.”

“She told them that Terra was not merely a goddess of beasts, but a goddess of balance. Beasts, humans, monsters, all were meant to exist under her order. But balance was broken when humans grew greedy and sought dominion without limits, trying to place themselves above everything else.”

“That was when Beast Tamers were born. Chosen by Terra and given companions that grew alongside them, allowing common people to rival nobles and kings. The woman said that was the beginning of chaos.”

A faint chill crawled up Nox’s spine.

“She warned them,” Andre continued, “that as long as Beast Tamers existed, Terra’s influence would never fade. That one day, Terra would fully awaken again, and when she did, the world would return to an era where crowns meant nothing and strength alone decided fate.”

Andre finally turned his head, his gaze sharp and unwavering.

“She gave my ancestors their duty. Protect the statue. Guard it until the end of time. And wipe out anyone who bears the Beast Tamer class. Without exception. Men, women, children. Mercy was forbidden.”
