Chapter 571 -335: To Get Rich, Find Brother Chu in Dubai
After chatting with them for a while, Lin Chu took a tour of his new “home.”
If he were a homebody, this would undoubtedly be the most comfortable house in the world.
You could swim, work out, use the sauna, play video games, read, shoot pool, and watch movies, all at home. It was a massive “castle” of over ten thousand square feet, with six floors and two elevators… and best of all, no shared common areas.
Without even leaving the “grounds,” you could go fishing, ride horses, tend to a vegetable garden, and play with dogs. Out back, there was a tennis court and a basketball court, letting you fully enjoy the feeling of being a private Island Lord.
Too bad he wasn’t a homebody in the slightest.
On the contrary, he was the restless type who couldn’t sit still. He’d feel uncomfortable if he didn’t get into something every day.
It was like he had fucking ADHD.
All that inspirational crap is poison.
It was all because he’d consumed too much of it back in school and when he first started working. He’d always believed that either your body or your soul had to be on the road.
Just hearing a song intro like “DEE-LEE-LEE DEE-LEE-LEE-LEE DA-DA” was enough to make him jolt upright from his deathbed, desperate to just pick up and go at a moment’s notice.
Heh.
That was just his personality, and personality determined fate.
But even so, Lin Chu decided that for now, he would stay here and rest for a while.
Too much had happened recently.
He had traveled too far, too fast. Sometimes, you had to stop, take a look around, and double-check your direction.
The banks in Europe, Liszt’s club, the island in the Philippines, the current situation in Dubai, all the various people involved… he needed to sort through and consolidate everything.
His current situation was different from when he was just traveling for fun before.
Back then, he’d been in an idealistic and lazy phase. He felt like he had earned enough money and just wanted to drop out of the rat race and have fun.
But now…
There was still a sword hanging over his head.
Lin Chu knew perfectly well that the burden he carried could be dealt with in one of two ways.
First, wait it out. Rely on time until public memory faded completely.
Second, act. Whether through soft power or hard, by forging alliances or playing factions against each other, by negotiating and cutting deals—do whatever it takes to put an end to this crisis for good.
‘As he thought about all this…’
Soaking in the enormous bathtub, Lin Chu closed his eyes and relaxed.
In a few more days, it would be his twenty-fifth birthday.
‘Fuck, who would have thought? Even I couldn’t have imagined that the kid from that seaside fishing village would ever make it this far.’
‘Of course, the more you have, the more you go through, and the bigger the problems you face.’
For some reason, he suddenly recalled something from the first half of the year, back before he’d made his fortune. He’d been slogging through a client visit when he saw a Lamborghini in the underground garage, covered in dust, its tires completely flat.
At the time, he’d joked with a colleague that there were three possibilities for the owner: he was either in jail, had fled the country, or was six feet under.
‘I guess my own cars in the garage are probably gathering dust by now, huh?’
He shook his head with a small smile. Feeling completely loosened up from the bath, he wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped into the sauna.
As the steam billowed around him and his pores opened up, Lin Chu… kept thinking.
‘Wealth comes from strategy, not from toil.’
‘Profit comes from seizing opportunities, not from brute effort.’
‘These were, without a doubt, irrefutable truths.’
‘And for a boss, for a truly capable man, any problem could be solved with intelligence and execution.’
‘That, too, was beyond question.’
‘Right now, I need to think further ahead—at least four or five steps. Only then can I handle things with ease.’
After spending over half an hour in the sauna, feeling like he was about to turn into a crispy roasted suckling pig, Lin Chu finally got out. He dressed and stood before the massive floor-to-ceiling window.
It was afternoon. The sun was brilliant, and the sea was a deep blue.
The myriad thoughts swirling in his mind seemed to take on a concrete form.
He lit a cigarette and exhaled a satisfied puff of smoke. Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him. Lin Chu glanced back. It was one of the maids, dressed in a black-and-white uniform with black high heels. She appeared to be Caucasian, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was gorgeous, with a great figure. Holding an ashtray, she approached with light, graceful steps.
“Where are you from?”
Lin Chu asked casually. ‘Have to admit,’ he thought, ‘Lu Ming’s taste is definitely on point.’
‘In this house alone, from what I saw on my way up, there are at least ten maids. It’s pretty… decadent.’
‘And seeing such a beautiful woman working as a cleaner… it just felt a little strange.’
“Hello, sir. I’m from Ukraine.”
She spoke with her eyes downcast, her voice carrying a faint sense of inferiority and an indescribable meekness.
Lin Chu’s lips parted as if to say something, but he held his tongue. He simply waved a hand, dismissing her.
‘Forget it. No need to rub salt in her wounds.’
‘And… what is this feudal lord lifestyle I’m living?’
‘It’s surprisingly comfortable, though. And a little thrilling.’
…
After brewing a pot of tea, Lin Chu sat in the study and checked his phone for messages he had missed over the past few days.
He had registered a new account for his social media apps.
His old one was probably compromised to hell and back, so he’d simply abandoned it.
‘With my current status, I don’t really need to maintain any specific relationships. The people who want to find me will find a way. As for those who don’t, there’s no need for me to go out of my way for them.’
Surprisingly, he could still log into all of his bank accounts. Not a single one was blocked; he could move funds in and out as usual.
He did a quick tally. His domestic accounts held a total of 5.3 billion yuan in liquid assets, and that was after he had already funneled a significant amount of capital into his companies.
His overseas funds were spread across six different banks. The amounts varied, but in total, they added up to about 7.4 billion USD.
