Chapter 541: Chapter 321: Destined Not to Be an Ordinary Person
"Brother Chu, should I bury these three first?"
After a moment of collective silence, Gao Haitao asked, his voice tight.
’This was the first time he’d ever done something like this. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t panicking, but things had already gone this far. There was no other choice but to deal with whatever came their way.’
He’d chatted with employees from the Lc Overseas Branch before, and some of them had actually seen blood.
After all, things abroad weren’t like they were back home, especially in places like Africa. When someone points a gun at your head, you can’t just sit there and wait to die, can you?
"Leave them for now. That’s not the priority."
"There are definitely cameras around here. We won’t be able to hide them."
Lin Chu lit a cigarette and exhaled a long plume of smoke.
’This was something he’d never experienced before, either. However, he had pictured this very scene among the many scenarios he’d run through for his meeting with Liszt.’
"I need you to leave in a minute. There’s something I need you to do for me."
"There’s a country called Grenada. Population of a little over a hundred thousand. Go and negotiate with them. I want political asylum. As for what specific status, let them name their price. The higher, the better."
Lin Chu said in a low voice. This was one of the escape routes he’d already planned out. ’With money in hand, the world is my oyster.’
’Before, he’d still held a certain reverence for "the rules." Or perhaps it was more that he didn’t want to break so many boundaries.’
’But now? He didn’t care anymore.’
’Trample them.’
’Either way, no one is going to kill me! And they sure as hell aren’t going to control me!’
"Okay, I got it. That’s a great idea."
"What about lawyers?"
"Should we get some ready ahead of time?"
Gao Haitao’s expression shifted. "That’s also really important," he immediately added. "After all, most countries abroad use a common law system. Case law. Lawyers are extremely important."
"Yes, of course. Anyone who’s even slightly famous, anyone we can get, get them all for me. Assign someone specifically to handle it."
"It’d be best if we could fucking buy a few prisons and plant our own people inside."
A cold glint flashed in Lin Chu’s eyes, and he almost seemed to be gritting his teeth.
"Alright, no problem."
"I’ll get on it right away."
"What about Dubai? Should we talk to the Little Prince?"
Gao Haitao asked.
’These were all ways to solve the immediate crisis. What were connections for if not for times like this?’
For ordinary people in this world, the law was everything. But in reality, wherever there were people, people had the final say.
"You don’t worry about that. I’ll be the one to talk to him."
"Start transferring our guys from the company over here. I need at least five hundred of them."
"Go on. Go now, and watch your own back."
Lin Chu glanced at him and said nonchalantly.
Gao Haitao nodded again and gave Lin Chu a long, hard look. "Alright. You take care, then."
He hurried away into the distance, keeping low and scanning for any snipers that might appear at any moment.
Watching his receding figure, Lin Chu felt a sense of calm settle over him now that everything was arranged.
There’s a psychological principle called the broken windows theory. Once one window is shattered, there’s no reason to worry about the rest.
’A classic line even surfaced in his mind: "I wanted to be a good man."’
’But he had no choice.’
’Now, his biggest secret was on the verge of being exposed.’
Lin Chu was certain that Liszt had noticed something.
He didn’t know what Lin Chu had, but he definitely knew that the source of his funds was a mystery.
’Then die!’
’They can all fucking die!’
’These were just the old tricks of Westerners. The advance of capital has always been a bloody affair. If they could do it, so could he.’
"Ah Hui, you scared?"
Lin Chu looked over at Liu Chenhui and asked with a grin.
’This big lug hadn’t had an easy time following him, and now he was caught up in this huge mess.’
Liu Chenhui pursed his lips. His eyes flickered with hesitation, but he still shook his head.
"If you’re not scared, I’m not scared."
Heh.
Lin Chu couldn’t help but shake his head and smile.
"There’s some truth to that. Come on, let’s go have some tea."
He clapped him on the shoulder. Lin Chu led him toward the house, striding away without a single glance back.
Over by the house, the women had already screamed and run inside.
They were truly terrified, having witnessed the scene with their own eyes.
Wang Zhefei strode quickly toward Lin Chu.
He saw that Lin Chu hadn’t done anything to deal with the scene, and he was frantic with worry, his face pale. He gestured toward the bodies. "Where are you going?"
"Over there..."
Lin Chu shook his head. "Don’t worry about it. Let them handle it. Are you panicking?"
"Panicking my ass! Fuck, you’re a real man, you actually fucking shot them. Let’s go, we need to get out of here now. I don’t care where. Don’t tell me you don’t have a secret base."
"Not after getting this fucking far."
Wang Zhefei was cursing up a storm, clearly agitated.
"I’m not leaving."
"I have to see him."
"Those three were decoys, not the man himself. He invited me to have dinner with him tonight."
"If I run, it’ll confirm his suspicions. Staying here, meeting him... that’s a path forward."
"It’s not too late for you to back out. I’ll give you the company. I can sign the papers for you right now."
Lin Chu looked at Wang Zhefei with an unreadable smile.
’He really didn’t need to drag Brother Fei down with him. From this moment on, his life was heading down an even more thrilling and spectacular path. But Lin Chu wasn’t sure who would still be standing behind him when he reached the end.’
’Of course, it all depended on Wang Zhefei’s own choice.’
"Go fuck yourself!"
"Don’t be a fucking idiot! Ah Hui, when are your people getting here?"
"You go, I’ll stay. If there’s talking to be done, I’ll be the one to do it."
