Chapter 533: Chapter 317: Grandson, Are You Trying to Be the Godfather?
「Half an hour later.」
On the twelfth floor of the Bulgari Hotel, in a room overlooking the Crazy Horse Show.
Lin Chu and Wang Zhefei stood before the massive floor-to-ceiling window, watching the flashing neon lights and the stream of guests entering the venue across the street.
"We’re... watching from here?"
"What kind of view is this?"
"Or are we waiting for everyone to get drunk so we can go down and pick up the passed-out girls?"
Wang Zhefei asked, bewildered and unsure whether to laugh or cry.
The Crazy Horse Show was certainly intriguing and tempting, but why weren’t they inside instead of here?
It obviously wasn’t because they couldn’t afford it.
Lin Chu turned to look at him and smiled faintly. "You’ll know soon enough. Come on, let’s eat and drink. I had someone get us some skewers and a Trappist quadrupel. Let’s see how they compare to the ones back home."
Having their "usual" was a ritual.
Even in a foreign country, you could still get it if you really wanted to.
Wang Zhefei paused, looking at Lin Chu thoughtfully. For a moment, it seemed like he was starting to understand something. He licked his lips, a flicker of nervousness stirring within him.
A moment later, however, a slight smile appeared on his lips.
"What’s the big show?"
"What? Whether or not Paris is in chaos is up to Brother Chu?"
"Come on, let’s drink up."
He said it casually, then sat down on the sofa. On the coffee table was a small alcohol stove. The beer was chilling in an ice bucket, and the skewers were fragrant in their foil wrapping. He opened the foil and took a savage bite.
’Gutsy!’
’Fuck, Lin Chu, you motherfucker, you really have balls!’
’To pull something like this!’
’Where the hell are we?’
’Say what you will, but your balls are fucking huge!’
’What kind of act is this?’
’If someone found out about this, wouldn’t we be wanted worldwide?’
Taking a deep breath, he chugged a mouthful of beer, his gaze turning sharp.
He turned to look at Liu Chenhui and Gao Haitao, and the pieces started falling into place.
’Security.’
’Heh.’
’Security.’
Lin Chu sat down next to him.
"Have you solved the phone problem? Hardware and software can both be customized. If that doesn’t work, we can develop our own. I’m an expert in this."
Wang Zhefei said, his tone calm.
Now that he had chosen to board this "pirate ship," all he could do was look forward.
’That idiot Lin Chu, he was always "promising" since we were kids. Never mind his school days, when he was always up to some shady shit. And now, he’s planning something this earth-shattering, walking the line between black and white...’
’My brother, you’ve finally gone down the path of "illegal activities and crime."’
’Of course... to get rich.’
’After all, the road to real wealth is written in the criminal code.’
’Now that it’s come to this, what can be done?’
’All I can do is help him with everything I’ve got.’
"It’s solved. That part wasn’t difficult."
Lin Chu opened a beer, took a comfortable sip, and leaned back in a tactical recline. "I had Old Gao scour the globe for hacker teams. We bought land in Dubai—that’s going to be our global business intelligence center."
Wang Zhefei gave him a deep look and nodded.
’Well, we do have some advantages.’
’After all, money is the biggest advantage.’
"So you’re looking for god-tier hackers, huh? How many have you found?"
He looked at Gao Haitao and asked casually. As a former programmer, although his own skills were just average, he still knew a fair bit about the industry.
Gao Haitao rubbed his nose. "Still in talks, but no luck yet."
He was ashamed of this.
He’d spoken to a few teams, but none of them would bite. It wasn’t something money could solve.
These tech guys who’ve decided to become hackers and go underground are hard to recruit. They even suspect we’re running a sting and are extremely wary.
"Alright, I’ll connect with you on this later. Even this can be solved with enough money."
"These days, there’s no unbridgeable technological gap. It’s all about who has more resources. Brute force wins."
Hearing this, Gao Haitao smiled. "Then I’ll have to trouble you, Brother Fei. With you on board, I feel like a tiger that has grown wings."
The men ate and chatted.
Wang Zhefei felt that the current situation was somewhat "surreal."
Of course, this surreal feeling wasn’t new.
It started when Lin Chu got rich—when he started buying mansions, luxury cars, and all sorts of gifts. The surreal feeling began to set in, but back then, it was still within an acceptable range. It hadn’t gone beyond the standard behavior of a very rich person.
If you have money and don’t buy these things or chase girls, what else is there to do?
But now, things were getting more and more surreal and abstract.
Across the street was the Crazy Horse Show, and Lin Chu was about to make some big move.
His ambitions were clearly set on the global stage.
And it involved all this killing, open strife, and hidden struggles.
’All this pointless bullshit!’
’I can’t say anything to him.’
’Can’t you just be a fucking normal person?’
’Even if you just spent your days debauching, even if you wrecked your kidneys by the time you’re thirty, at least that would be normal.’
’Idiot.’
"Come on, come on, let’s drink, let’s drink... When does the show start?"
Slightly agitated, Wang Zhefei opened another beer, clinked bottles with Lin Chu, and drained it in one go.
"What’s the rush?"
"It should be soon..."
"The show’s been on for a while now, after all."
Lin Chu turned his head and glanced diagonally down. Though he couldn’t see the scene inside, it was clearly all song and dance in there, business as usual.
Wang Zhefei exhaled, his brows knitting slightly. He didn’t offer any comment, simply asking again, "What’s next?"
He was extremely serious now.
After all, he had bet his entire life and fortune on this, yet he still didn’t know what they were actually going to do. He was trying his best to keep up with Lin Chu’s line of thought.
"Next?"
"A trip... to the Alps. We’re going to meet someone. The one who sent me that high-priority message last time. He’s a big shot from an old-money consortium. He’s part of an organization something like the Crystal Skull Society, full of top-tier tycoons."
