Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 2747 - 2809: Seven of Ten Families Arrive
Brother Hu quickly said, "Boss, there’s something I need to discuss with you first."
"Speak."
"Since you’re here in person, both our families have agreed that we’d like to ask you to be the officiant and say a few words for us, what do you think..."
"Officiant?" Li Yifei was a bit surprised, he hadn’t really thought about this. Looking at the hopeful expressions of Brother Hu and Wang Yaxin, Li Yifei said, "Don’t you have any respected elders in your families?"
"No matter how respected, they can’t compare to you, boss, so as the officiant, please don’t refuse. Both Yaxin and I think that having you as our officiant, as a witness to our love, is the best thing!" Brother Hu said excitedly, and Wang Yaxin nodded quickly, saying, "Yes, boss, please agree."
"If I were to be your officiant, wouldn’t that mean I’d be responsible for your marriage?" Li Yifei retorted, seeing the conflicted expressions on their faces, he added, "Alright then, I’ll do it. If Huzi ever dares to bully you, just come to me, and I’ll beat him up."
"Boss, I wouldn’t dare, Yaxin is the boss in our house!" Brother Hu quickly defended himself. For Huzi, having Li Yifei agree to be the officiant was an honor beyond measure, and both families were very much in agreement.
"Little Liu, quickly bring out the red flower for the officiant and pin it on the boss," Wang Yaxin said as she turned around, calling a bridesmaid who didn’t react at first, only realizing it after a while, and then rushed to get the flower.
Helping to pin the flower means getting to be closer to Li Yifei, which is an even better thing. Both Little Liu and the female doctor were overly excited, worried that they might prick Li Yifei with the pin.
"God, your pectoral muscles are so solid!" The female doctor touched Li Yifei’s shirt and immediately felt the hard, firm muscles, involuntarily blurting it out.
"Huh?" Li Yifei didn’t expect such an excited remark from the woman, and the woman next to her was nodding along as well, making him realize that "god" was referring to him.
"Do you know me?"
"No... well, yes, I follow you on Twitter; you’re the only celebrity I follow now. No, I mean the god on Twitter. I’ve unfollowed all the other male celebrities. They’re nothing compared to a true god like you, old soldier!" The female doctor was so excited that her words came out in a rapid stream, and Little Liu next to her was nodding vigorously, clearly in full agreement.
"So, you’re saying I’m not handsome?" Li Yifei asked.
"No, no, that’s absolutely not what I meant. Boss, you’re so handsome, you make me dizzy. Honestly, I’m so nervous; if I could have a photo with you, I’d probably die of happiness instantly."
"A photo wouldn’t be so deadly, would it? Otherwise, it wouldn’t mean anything!" Li Yifei chuckled.
"God, do you agree to take a photo?"
"No, I’m afraid you’d die, and that would make me a murderer by implication, something I’m not willing to do!" Li Yifei said.
So humorous, god, you’re so humorous. The female doctor was starry-eyed and quickly said, "No, no, god, after the photo, I promise I won’t die!"
"We’ll see after the wedding if there’s a chance. Okay, I’ll go sit over there." Li Yifei said, turning to leave, while the female doctor, unwilling to give up, took a deep breath and, with a face full of adoration, told Little Liu, "Little Liu, did you hear that? God said he would take a picture with us. Oh, I’m not washing my hand for three days... no, a week, the scent from god’s body is so captivating!"
Apart from the graduate sister, the other three women looked envious; they had hesitated for a moment, letting the female doctor have the chance. Otherwise, they would have been the ones getting close to Li Yifei. Ugh, he’s the god, the richest man, just getting close to him means they might get rich, doesn’t it?
"Sisters, it’s tough for you all, but after the wedding, I’ll try my best to arrange for you to have a photo with god!" Wang Yaxin clapped her hands and said.
"Alright, it would be best if we could have a private photo." One woman said.
"Dear, that’s the richest man. Even a group photo is already rare. Ugh, how would he take individual photos with each of us?" Wang Yaxin rolled her eyes.
"Hahaha, dreams are worth having, what if they come true? Alright, let’s tidy up and get ready for the ceremony."
Li Yifei was already the focus of the crowd. Without Brother Hu instructing them, the photographers they hired had already pointed their long lenses at Li Yifei. As he walked by, people sitting at the eighty tables seemed to be paying him homage, moving with him as he moved, capturing the entire process like walking down the red carpet.
Li Yifei naturally didn’t know any of them, but he still smiled and nodded at people on both sides. As for stopping to greet them, that really wasn’t necessary.
Walking a bit, Li Yifei suddenly stopped and turned to Brother Hu behind him, "Where are your parents? Since I’m here, I should at least greet them."
"My parents?" Brother Hu was a little confused, then quickly jolted, saying, "Over there, along with Yaxin’s parents. Wait a moment, boss, I’ll call them over."
"No need to call, let’s just go over!" Li Yifei was already stepping forward. Brother Hu’s parents and Wang Yaxin’s parents, as well as some people with status from both families, were sitting not far away, which was also convenient for toasting each other, chatting, and such. When they saw Li Yifei approaching, the people on both sides stood up, most of them smiling and nodding, with some greeting him by saying things like, "Mr. Li is here."
"Uncle, Auntie, congratulations," Li Yifei cupped his hands and said.
"Oh, oh, Mr. Li... you’re here, thank you so much. Despite your busy schedule, you came to attend Huzi and Yaxin’s wedding. Our whole family is extremely happy and thankful." Huzi’s father was excited, repeating his words several times. Li Yifei nodded and said, "Huzi is a friend, attending the wedding is my responsibility, but you all carry on, no need to go out of your way to cater to me!"
Brother Hu was beaming with pride; this was a day of true honor. In all of Ning Province, there are weddings happening every day, some involving ordinary people and others involving the wealthy and influential. Each wedding is different, but apart from a few individuals, it’s rare to hear of someone getting married with seven of the ten major families from the province attending. This was just the current count; if word hadn’t reached the other three families, perhaps they too would have come, for attending such an occasion was the norm for everyone. On the other hand, not attending would mean willingly excluding oneself from the circle, an act of self-sabotage that no one would want to commit.
Brother Hu couldn’t think this deeply, but he knew that everyone was respecting Li Yifei, and anyone who didn’t respect him was in the wrong. This principle applied universally in society.
If all ten major families could gather, it would be an unparalleled honor across the province, unmatched by anyone else. This marriage, by winning such recognition on both sides, made the parents extremely satisfied. At their age, what they compare is their children’s capability and success, naturally feeling proud if their children achieve. The wedding becomes the best occasion for the parents to brag to friends and relatives about their children’s achievements. Even if Huzi hadn’t planned anything, through this wedding he gathered so many influential people, and now they knew who sat at the foremost table. How could they not be excited?
Li Yifei, after saying a word, feared making these people uncomfortable, so he excused himself and continued forward.
"Go prepare for the wedding. It’s almost time. I’ll go sit up front," Li Yifei said.
"Alright, alright, Boss, please remember to say a few words later!" Brother Hu reminded him.
"Alright."
Li Yifei walked toward the front table, smiled at the people around it, and said, "Everyone, sorry to keep you waiting!"
"Clan leader Li!" Except for Wang Chunlai, even Uncle Fei from the Ye family felt the need to stand up to welcome him. Even Wang Chunlai, though slightly delayed, had to stand up in the end. Why? Because Li Yifei, despite being so young, established the Li Family in a few years, growing from nothing to a colossal entity dominating the region, the first in the province.
That’s not all. When they took the time to understand what Li Yifei had done over the years, they realized he was not only a clan chief and had intimidating martial strength, but he had also reached a level beyond their reach. Therefore, going against someone like him? What good could it possibly bring?
It wouldn’t do any good; the fall of the three families from the provincial capital in recent years was proof. Therefore, don’t easily anger Li Yifei is the consensus among those with some status in the province. Fortunately, Li Yifei wasn’t an overbearing person and there were almost no stories of him initiating trouble. Otherwise... with strong allies like the Ye family, it wouldn’t be hard for Li Yifei to take down families from the top ten, even if government obstruction meant something like this was a possibility.
But so far, there hasn’t been any clean-up. Even if there’s competition in business, it’s all based on individual capability. As long as others don’t resort to shenanigans, the Li family won’t either.
Everyone competes fairly and that’s about it.
Li Yifei chuckled and said, "Let’s sit down and chat. According to seniority, you’re mostly my elders. Being too courteous doesn’t feel right."
"Clan leader Li, it’s been a long time since we last met, but your charisma remains as ever," commented the clan chief from a new family, trying to get closer to him.
Li Yifei nodded lightly and said, "Not bad; you look even younger."
"Haha, younger? Thank you, Clan leader Li, for the compliment."
This kind of small talk wasn’t really Li Yifei’s thing, but when people gather, they either directly get to business or waste time on such fluff.
"Where did everyone hear the news from? Your collective presence surprised me," Li Yifei said.
"The news wasn’t hard to come by, the province isn’t that big. But since you kept this celebration from us, you owe us a drink," Wang Chunlai smiled.
