Super Soldier in the City
Chapter 2744 - 2806: The Wang Family Master Arrives in Person
If Brother Hu were given another one of those brains, he probably still couldn’t figure out why the Ye family from the provincial city would send someone, especially since they sent someone from a direct line, who’s in the same generation as Li Yifei’s uncle. Yet, Brother Hu is not familiar with the Ye family and doesn’t know who this person actually is. The person’s attitude was bad at first but then became friendly, which left Brother Hu somewhat overwhelmed with surprise. He escorted him all the way into the hotel and personally arranged for him to sit at the front table, which was originally meant for Li Yifei. Meanwhile, he also reserved the best private room next to the hall for Li Yifei. If the place is too noisy for him when he arrives, he can dine in the private room.
Brother Hu thought to himself that arranging this position should be reasonable, but it’s just a thought because he’s not sure about Li Yifei’s specific relationship with the Ye family. His plan was to quietly ask Li Yifei when he arrived. If the relations were good, then sitting together wouldn’t matter. If not, sitting them together could be troublesome for the boss.
Checking the time, there were twenty minutes left until the wedding ceremony begins. Brother Hu wiped his forehead, thinking Li Yifei should be arriving soon.
The people from the Ye family let him leave. Brother Hu returned to the entrance to continue welcoming guests. Typically, welcoming guests could be left to the parents on both sides, not requiring his presence; friends from society were attended to by the younger ones. He was waiting for Li Yifei, as only the boss was worth waiting for.
As soon as he was thinking about this, he heard a junior running over in haste. Brother Hu quickly turned around and asked, "Is the boss here?"
"No, no, Brother Hu, another group has arrived, and they’re quite imposing. Our brothers didn’t dare to block them forcibly, so I quickly came to inform you!" The junior said.
Upon hearing this, Brother Hu’s heart skipped a beat. Given the earlier lesson, he figured this might be another distinguished guest, yet his small wedding scene managed to attract so many big figures, which truly was... hard to say. Thinking about this, Brother Hu grasped the junior’s hand and said, "Come on, let’s go greet them."
Brother Hu found these newcomers somewhat familiar but couldn’t recall where he’d seen them before. They brought quite a crowd, with five cars, and the license plates looked extraordinary. Amusingly, they didn’t recognize Brother Hu; they tried to push him aside as they passed him. Brother Hu quickly said, "Friends, this venue has been booked by me for the wedding. May I ask what business brings you here?"
"You booked it? Oh, are you the groom?" The lead person looked at him, laughed, and said, "Congratulations, congratulations. What a mess this is, look, here’s a red envelope, take it!"
Brother Hu quickly waved his hands, saying, "I don’t yet know your identities, so I can’t accept this red envelope!"
"Well, once given, you must take it; there’s identification written on the back of the envelope. Quickly clear some space, as our Old Sir is in the car too, coming to join the fun; you better not refuse!" The person forcefully stuffed the red envelope into Brother Hu’s hands, who reluctantly accepted it while thinking that this was probably another distinguished figure, and considering ’Old Sir,’ maybe of even higher status than the previous one.
Brother Hu hurriedly picked up the red envelope and quickly glanced at it, only to see it signed as Wang Chunlai with a few words of congratulations for the wedding written elegantly and imposingly. Brother Hu didn’t recognize the name. Looking up, he saw the person smiling, and he paused suddenly, eyes widening as he asked, "Are you from the Provincial Wang Family?"
The Wang surname was extremely common in the provincial city, but calling themselves the Provincial Wang Family—only one Wang Family in the province would be recognized as such, and they were one of the Ten Major Families. Brother Hu didn’t know their rank within the ten, but as such a family, it symbolized a top-tier clan, a presence Brother Hu admired from afar. Whether during his time in society or now, he was miles apart from the Wang Family. To think they’ve come, but what’s their relationship with the boss? Brother Hu didn’t know; he felt both excited and perplexed, soon saying, "Uh... Brother Wang, no, Uncle Wang, you mentioned the Old Sir also came?"
"Yes, the Old Sir had nothing to do and came to wander around, joining in the fun. The Old Sir likes lively scenes, hurry up and don’t block the doorway anymore, find a place inside for us!" The person said.
Brother Hu nodded repeatedly, then immediately turned back and said, "Uncle, the Ye family also sent someone just now, and they’re inside."
"The Ye family? Swift on their feet, indeed. Who came? I heard Old Master Ye’s health isn’t so good; he probably can’t make it."
"In terms of generational positions, I should also call him Uncle." Brother Hu said.
"Oh, not sure who came, we’ll find out inside. But the Ye family is quite stingy, at least they should’ve sent a key figure." The person sighed while turning back to welcome Old Sir. Brother Hu quickly instructed the juniors, saying, "Hurry up and clear a path, be careful not to bump into Old Sir, everyone watch their steps."
Within this short period, two distinguished figures had arrived. Brother Hu’s heart, accustomed to societal mores, felt like it might jump out. He pressed his chest, thinking this would somehow calm his racing heart, assuring himself that it was nothing, as the boss was even greater than them. These people came because the boss was about to arrive, ultimately paying respect to the boss’s prestige.
Heh, this boss was definitely worth acknowledging, Brother Hu chuckled to himself. Just then, Brother Wang, the Wang family master, Old Sir Wang Chunlai, alighted from the car. Despite wearing a Tang Suit, his stature wasn’t tall, but his vitality was tremendous, seemingly unchanged for years without any sign of aging. His walking was light and quick, indeed someone who practiced diligently, truly extraordinary.
Brother Hu secretly admired him. Though unfamiliar with the Wang Family, he knew the Old Sir was quite advanced in age. Leading the group upstairs, Brother Hu cautiously asked if it was okay to seat them with the Ye family.
"Sure, of course it is. The Wang and Ye families are friendly clans, perfect for catching up and reconnecting. How about this—has Clan leader Li arrived yet?" Wang Chunlai replied directly upon hearing the question.
"Old Sir, my boss hasn’t arrived yet, but he should be soon!" Brother Hu replied.
"Alright, once he arrives, bring him over directly. This spot is great; it’s close enough to view your wedding while being peaceful, allowing us to chat."
"Old Sir, once the wedding concludes, I’ll invite you to the private room where it’s more peaceful and suitable for conversation... It’s so humbling. How fortunate is Huzi, having both Wang and Ye families attending my wedding! I’m utterly blessed thrice over," Brother Hu exclaimed.
"Young man, you’re just lucky. Heard you also married a beautiful bride?" Old Sir Wang Chunlai was affable and had spoken a lot to Li Yifei before, offering quite some advice, which was in his nature. Despite his status, he was genuinely a decent person.
Brother Hu chuckled repeatedly, saying, "Yes, indeed. Old Sir’s words are so spot-on. My luck shines; I met the boss and married my wife."
"All right, we’ll head in by ourselves now; you should wait for him," Old Sir waved his hand, and Brother Hu nodded fervently. The numerous tables of people were all watching intently. The hall was quite large, but the chatter grew quieter. Many were not there to chat; they were there to witness!
They watched as Brother Hu first escorted an important guest to the front seats, then led an elderly person inside. Some sharp-eyed ones felt the elder familiar but couldn’t immediately identify him.
"That’s a distinguished figure, given the grandeur!"
"I don’t know, but Huzi is certainly thriving; look at the pomp!"
"Another one is here, feels even more familiar this time, like I’ve seen them somewhere," someone uttered softly. Brother Hu was once again leading two more inside; one tall and one short, one fat and one thin, both looking about the same age, around fifty. The difference was the shorter one was female. They entered, talking and laughing with Brother Hu, whom he seated at the front table. The table already seated Old Sir Wang Chunlai and the Ye family member of Li Yifei’s uncle generation. The arrival surprised the two, and they hurriedly greeted them.
"Oh? You came too, huh? Quick ears indeed! Hurry and sit down," Old Sir Wang Chunlai remarked, politely without any arrogance. The two smiled abundantly, although the man struggled to smile. These two had recently been included among the Ten Major Families due to Li Yifei’s elimination of the other Three Great Clans, giving them a chance to move up. Without this shake-up, entering the top ten was extremely difficult; each role within the top ten was fiercely contested, with no one willing to yield easily. Counting the Li family, these two families became the new Ten Major Families.
Yet, the woman came personally, while the man merely represented someone else, making things somewhat inappropriate. Thus, the man felt awkward, wondering if he should urgently inform their master to come personally. But it was too late timing-wise, leaving him awkward as he explained that the master wasn’t feeling well and sent him instead. Yet, Old Sir Wang Chunlai, much older, came himself, making one wonder how their family head couldn’t attend due to health?
In a blink, from the Ning Province’s total ten major families, four had arrived. Once Li Yifei comes, that would make five. Huzi already wanted to take Quick-acting heart-saving pills. What had he done to deserve this? Just an ex-con with a fortune, but now this wedding drew the top wealthiest and four families whose mere footstep could cause tremors. This unbelievable ... my heart, Brother Hu trembled, partly from excitement and partly unsure how to proceed. Heaven have mercy, he’s just a nobody, facing these distinguished figures, clueless on how to maneuver. A single misstep might lead to trouble with any of them.
