Chapter 1451: Not Allowed to Leave the Mountain!
“This is… the highest level warning of the Mystery Deduction Technique?!” Lin Feng’s expression changed slightly. He raised his head and glanced at Jiming Temple on the peak of West Mountain, and subconsciously muttered to himself, “Could it be that there’s something inside Jiming Temple that will endanger my life?!”
Ever since he started cultivation of the Mystery Deduction Technique, Lin Feng’s perception had grown much sharper. He trusted this sudden flash of intense danger in his mind. But even if he believed there really was something that could threaten his life, there was no way he would just leave Wu Mei alone at a time like this!
“I want to see exactly what it is that can make the Mystery Deduction Technique issue such a warning!” Lin Feng raised his guard to the limit and carefully approached Jiming Temple.
Because he’d been to Jiming Temple before, Lin Feng didn’t waste much effort this time and quickly found Wu Mei hiding under the covers in a lit side room of the temple…
“Wu Mei, you—you’re actually fine?!” Only after observing carefully did Lin Feng finally step into the room and appear in front of Wu Mei. He stared at her in surprise and asked.
“Lin Feng! You finally came for me!” Wu Mei, lying under the quilt, saw Lin Feng appear and happily jumped off the bed, threw herself into his arms, and hugged him tightly as she spoke with a sob in her voice, “I thought I’d never see you again!”
Turned out Wu Mei had already been feeling sleepy for a while, but she knew Lin Feng would come for her, so she forced herself to stay awake, waiting for him to appear!
In fact, Wu Mei had only lain down for less than twenty minutes; Lin Feng had reached Jiming Temple very quickly.
“What exactly happened? Why are you just lying here, leisurely sleeping…” Lin Feng looked at Wu Mei, his expression a bit strange, and frowned as he asked, “Where are the bastards who took you?”
“It was this temple’s Master Hongyi who saved me! That bad person…” Wu Mei’s face relaxed into a smile. “She’s already been subdued by Master Hongyi!”
“Master Hongyi, the abbot of Jiming Temple! So it was him who acted—no wonder you’re alright!” Lin Feng nodded. If Master Hongyi struck in anger, ordinary kidnappers really wouldn’t be able to withstand his attacks.
Then Lin Feng suddenly came to his senses and frowned as he asked, “Wu Mei, you just said ‘that bad person’… you mean the one who took you was acting alone?”
“Yeah, she was alone, and she was a woman! A woman wearing a black robe, with a really vicious tongue.” Wu Mei nodded, doing her best to describe the feeling that black‑clad woman gave her.
“Black robe!” Lin Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly, and he became even more certain that the other party was from the Sky Slaughter Organization. “Master Hongyi has already captured that woman, right?”
“Master Hongyi’s Martial Hall skills are really powerful. He took control of her in just one move!” Wu Mei nodded as she spoke.
“Did you hear that woman mention anything about having accomplices?” Thinking of the warning from the Mystery Deduction Technique, Lin Feng pressed Wu Mei with another question.
“I didn’t hear anything like that…” Wu Mei shook her head, looked carefully at Lin Feng’s face, and said, her expression a bit heavy, “But I did hear her say that she’s already laid down a ‘sky net and ground snare’ and is planning to kill you… I don’t know what backup she has.”
So the real target is me after all! Hearing this, Lin Feng actually looked relieved, as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
“Wu Mei, listen carefully. I’m taking you down the mountain right now…” After thinking for a few seconds, Lin Feng suddenly looked at Wu Mei with a very decisive expression and spoke in a deep voice.
“Down the mountain now?” Wu Mei’s brows knit slightly. She hugged her shoulders lightly and said softly to Lin Feng, “It’s so cold outside. Can’t we wait till tomorrow in broad daylight? That enemy’s already been restrained by Master Hongyi anyway!”
“No.” Lin Feng shook his head. He didn’t explain that ominous sense he’d felt in detail to Wu Mei; he only said, “Master Hongyi has only caught one bad person. It’s entirely possible that there are accomplices hidden in this temple. The longer we stay, the more chances for trouble. I won’t let you take that risk. You’re afraid of the cold, right? That’s easy to fix…”
As he finished speaking, Lin Feng’s gaze fell on the thick quilt on the bed. He bent down, yanked the quilt up, gave it a shake, and wrapped it tightly around Wu Mei, bundling her up securely…
“Now you won’t be cold.” Lin Feng looked at Wu Mei, his expression serious as he spoke.
“But… like this, how am I supposed to walk down the mountain?” Wu Mei felt a warm rush in her heart at Lin Feng’s slightly rough movements, but she still voiced her doubt… and at the same time, there was a small hint of expectation in her heart.
“I’ll carry you down.” Lin Feng met Wu Mei’s eyes and spoke in a tone that allowed no argument.
Then, without waiting for Wu Mei to protest, Lin Feng simply tightened his grip and lifted her up in a horizontal carry, striding straight out of the side room.
“Who goes there? Stop!”
Just as Lin Feng and Wu Mei stepped out of the room, an aged yet still imposing voice rang out from nearby.
Following the sound, Lin Feng saw Jiming Temple’s abbot, Hong Yi Mage, standing about ten meters away with several sturdy young monks. His expression was gloomy.
“Master Hongyi, it’s me, Lin Feng!” Lin Feng stopped as he was told and greeted Hong Yi Mage calmly, neither servile nor arrogant.
Lin Feng was here to pick up Wu Mei. Even though carrying her like this looked a bit awkward, Wu Mei was already his woman, and Lin Feng’s conscience was clear, so he wasn’t afraid to face Hong Yi Mage.
“Lin Feng!” A look of surprise flashed across Hong Yi Mage’s face. His eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced at Wu Mei in Lin Feng’s arms, then suddenly asked in a deep voice, “When did you arrive at Jiming Temple?”
Why is Hong Yi Mage asking this all of a sudden? Lin Feng froze for a moment, then instinctively answered, “About ten minutes ago!”
“Ten minutes ago?!” Hong Yi Mage’s expression grew even more agitated. “Lin Feng, let me ask you: after you arrived at my Jiming Temple, did you do anything you shouldn’t have?!”
“Master Hongyi, what’s that supposed to mean?” Lin Feng’s brows knitted tight as he shot the question back at Hong Yi Mage. “I came to Jiming Temple to find Wu Mei. After I found her, we chatted for a bit, and now I’m getting ready to take her down the mountain. What ‘things I shouldn’t have done’ could there be?!”
A pondering look appeared on Hong Yi Mage’s face, as though he was weighing the truth of Lin Feng’s words.
At this moment, a monk in his thirties standing behind Hong Yi Mage suddenly spoke up, “Abbot, whether Shi Neng was killed by this guy or not, he and that woman are both suspects. We absolutely can’t allow him to walk out of here with her so easily! Otherwise, where would that leave Jiming Temple’s dignity?!”
Lin Feng was stunned. A Disciple at Jiming Temple has been killed?!
