Chapter 1505 - 1495: Standing By Indifferently
Chapter 1505: Chapter 1495: Standing By Indifferently
What a strange thing, since when did a small team member’s treatment become so good? It’s really baffling.
Hmm... Zhang Lin, you don’t know, Jiang Cheng is not just a team member, he’s... Mu Yu hadn’t finished explaining to Zhang Lin when Jiang Cheng interrupted him.
"Alright, anything unrelated to work can be discussed after we finish the case!"
Jiang Cheng, Mu Yu, and Mole, not forgetting Zhang Lin, returned to the team, and suddenly a lot of team members surrounded the four of them. Just as Jiang Cheng was bewildered and even a bit cornered, the people attacking them directly lifted Rat.
Jiang Cheng suddenly felt an impulse to act, his palm quickly clenching into a fist, silently calculating the timing and speed to strike, aiming to quickly deal with this bastard, then rescue Rat and flee with a plan already in mind.
At that moment, a hand grasped Jiang Cheng’s, and he turned to see it was Mu Yu. Mu Yu kept shaking his head, telling Jiang Cheng not to act impulsively. Jiang Cheng saw the sincerity in Mu Yu’s eyes, and the anger in his heart subsided, turning his fist back into a palm.
Jiang Cheng thought, I really want to see what they’ll do to Rat. At this point, hitting someone wouldn’t be a rational move; it would bring a series of troubles to ’597’, which would be counterproductive.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and the boss entered, smiling as he spoke: "Mole, now that you’re in our hands this time, don’t expect to escape. Our law will ensure you repay the sins committed outside, right inside the prison."
The boss’s tone was heavy, speaking with righteousness and vigor, while Mole said nothing, nor did he resist, but instead gave Jiang Cheng a deep look.
This glance was full of emotion, it contained nostalgia, reluctance, respect, hope, expectancy, and some disappointment.
Jiang Cheng felt a complex mix of emotions from that look, as if his heart was a vibrant potpourri of sensations, even he couldn’t discern the sweet, sour, bitter, or spicy.
Rat, with that look, was pressed down by the boss and his men, leaving Jiang Cheng and Mu Yu in the room. Mu Yu wanted to talk to Jiang Cheng, but Jiang Cheng said: "You go back, I want to be alone."
Jiang Cheng spoke very seriously, his expression also unpleasant. Mu Yu had no reason to resist and lacked the courage to do so, though he didn’t leave, standing quietly there, worried Jiang Cheng might lose control and do something foolish.
Knowing Mu Yu’s concerns, Jiang Cheng said: "You can go, don’t worry, I won’t act foolishly. Let me think about how to rescue Mole through formal channels."
Upon hearing Jiang Cheng’s reassurance, Mu Yu left directly, while Zhang Lin followed, closing the door behind. Jiang Cheng took out his phone and dialed a number he never wanted to call, yet now he was calling for the second time.
"Hello boss, they plan to sentence Ou Shu, I hope you can intervene to release him." Jiang Cheng said each word carefully.
"But only if you promise me another task." The boss agreed straightforwardly but also set a condition.
"Sure, but I want to undertake this mission with Mole." Jiang Cheng responded immediately without any hesitation.
"Deal," said the boss, directly hanging up the phone.
Jiang Cheng hung up excitedly and rushed to Mu Yu’s side, saying: "The boss approved it, Ou Shu can be released!" Jiang Cheng shouted excitedly to Mu Yu.
"Really?" Hearing this, Mu Yu jumped up from the chair and responded.
Though he always acted as if he disliked that guy, at least the fellow isn’t bad. Despite Ou Shu once led a group to beat him up. Who is Mole?" Zhang Lin took a sip of coffee, looking at the excited two, asking with a hint of confusion in her eyes.
"Oh! A guy from the Mo Xiao organization! It’s the Mo Xiao we are tasked to eliminate this time!" Mu Yu explained from the side.
"My god! Are you guys crazy? Our opponent is being released, and yet you seem happy?" Zhang Lin, looking bemused, glanced at the two, shook her head with an expression of hopelessness, took another sip, and continued with her work.
"He’s with me now, he’s my little brother!" Jiang Cheng said boastfully. Zhang Lin waved the document at Jiang Cheng, saying, "You’re not even a team member, let alone a soldier! Where would a street punk get a little brother?"
"Whatever! Let’s go! Rescue Mole." Jiang Cheng clicked his tongue, speaking to Mu Yu who nodded and walked ahead.
"Come on out!" Mole looked at Jiang Cheng and then at Mu Yu, obediently walking out.
Mu Yu grabbed Mole’s arm and waved, unlocking the chain on Mole’s hand.
"Welcome to this world! You’re free!" Mu Yu smiled and said to Mole.
Mole was dazed, looking at Mu Yu, then at Jiang Cheng with eyes full of confusion. "Hey! Thanks to your boss! He pleaded with the boss for you." Mu Yu pointed at Jiang Cheng, saying with laughter in his eyes.
"Thank you." Mole hugged Jiang Cheng, whispering with a choke in his voice.
Jiang Cheng patted Mole’s head, nodding slightly. Mole became even more excited, hugging tighter.
"Not going to treat us?" Mu Yu said, expressing dissatisfaction toward the two. Every time he saw Mole, he’d recall being beaten by the group and feel an urge to retaliate.
However, he couldn’t beat them, but he could at least coax a meal.
"Treat! We definitely will!" Mole said grandly, waving at the two.
"Wow! Is this report finished, then?" Jiang Cheng quipped, only to be met with Zhao’s yell.
"Why did you remind me?" Mu Yu complained, facing Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng shrugged helplessly.
All in good humor and laughter.
At the restaurant, it wasn’t exactly quiet, and Rat found a quiet booth where everyone enjoyed themselves.
Just as everyone was having fun, a "Bang!" sound came from next door." It was the sound of someone falling.
"Want to check it out?" Before the words were finished, Mu Yu had already rushed over, followed by Jiang Cheng going helplessly.
"Team members, freeze!" Mu Yu burst into the room, flashing his badge and *bang* the door swung wide open.
Inside, hearing the word team, the people immediately ceased to move, and Jiang Cheng saw a man standing outside.
The loud music in the room continued, and Rat covered his ears to turn off the stereo.
Mu Yu glared at the two, initially wanting to rush over but was held back by Jiang Zai.
"Let me handle it!" Jiang Cheng said, nodding at Mu Yu before charging at the man, performing an over-the-shoulder throw to slam the man onto the floor. "Hitting women? Cool, huh?" Jiang Cheng said to the man, kicking him in the face.
After kicking, Jiang Cheng rushed over, discovering a beauty lying on the floor unconscious, her graceful face very charming, with slender willow-leaf eyebrows, a pointed chin, and large eyes, though now tightly shut, hiding her black and white pupils.
Such a beauty lying here, Jiang Cheng couldn’t stand idly by, and hastily crouched intending to lift her.
Suddenly a delicate fragrance waived by, and as Jiang Cheng savored the smell, he was pushed by a gentle force, not strong but enough to make him step back slightly.
