Chapter 636 - Divine Beast Dolon
Chapter 636: Divine Beast Dolon
A foul gust of wind blew from within the pyramid, and Xia Fei sensed a pair of venomous eyes watching him from the shadows!
Softly chuckling, Xia Fei put the Origin Crystal in his right hand back into his ring and stopped trying to activate the third pyramid.
“That was close,” Xia Fei said with a smile. “I almost walked into your trap. It turned out that it’s had been you the whole time. You put on such a big show I must admit that I almost fell for your scheme.”
Phantom was confused by these words. “Who are you talking with? Is there someone else here?”
Xia Fei ignored him. Taking out the Blood Crystal, he suddenly plunged the dagger into the floor with both hands!
“Awoooo!”
A strange howl resounded through the pyramid. Xia Fei’s dagger had stabbed some mysterious monster. No, to be more precise, he had stabbed this pyramid, which was one thousand meters tall!
A pyramid that could howl? Phantom and Oro were both aghast!
The last pyramid appeared pretty much the same as the other two, just worshipping an exotic beast rather than a human, but Xia Fei noticed those patterns! Those ever-present patterns! The floors and the pyramid were all covered in those swirling patterns, which were largely the same as those soft-bodied monsters attached to the humans.
When the Blood Crystal stabbed down, the entire pyramid wailed in pain! The spiral patterns convulsed in pain as if they were alive!
*Whoosh~*
Suddenly!
The scattered patterns throughout the main hall gathered together and then shot over like cannonballs. Xia Fei pulled out the Blood Crystal and withdrew from the pyramid. The area was too cramped for a fight, and he was surrounded by those bizarre patterns, making it unsuitable for battle.
The Blood Crystal had become so bright after absorbing some of the patterns that it appeared to be bleeding, and the howls of pain could still be heard from inside the pyramid.
The patterns, which had been spread throughout the pyramid, began to recede, withdrawing into a clearing where they converged into a black soft-bodied monster.
Just like that statue, the monster had four fangs and appeared like a pitch-black pile of cotton. Green tattoos covered its body.
“So it’s a shadow-type Divine Beast. Xia Fei, be careful,” Oro sternly said.
Xia Fei was startled. “A Divine Beast?”
“Mm, I can’t be wrong. An old monster that has lived for tens of thousands of years. Divine Beasts are clever and intelligent. Besides their fighting power, you also have to be wary of their schemes.”
Xia Fei lightly nodded. Shadow-type exotic beasts had no fixed outer appearance. They could be a river, a hill, a rock, et cetera. They could also be like this bizarre black pile of cotton in front of Xia Fei.
*Whoosh!*
A thousand eyes opened at once, all of them gleaming with savage light as they stared at Xia Fei!
In the center of all those spiral patterns was an eye! Black and empty, permeated with the aura of the death god.
Everything was now clear. Those soft-bodied monsters attached to human bodies were not individual existences, but offspring of a mother body. In other words, they were clones of this shadow-type Divine Beast!
In terms of abilities, this shadow-type Divine Beast specialized in cloning and puppetry. Xia Fei’s Delusion was restricted to only a single clone, which was time-limited, but this shadow-type Divine Beast could control innumerable sapient lifeforms!
“You’re the Divine Beast of the Atlanteans. Why did you betray your people and engage in such wickedness within the Dark Crow Pupa Cavity?” Xia Fei coldly asked as he pointed at the beast.
“Hmph! What Divine Beast of the Atlanteans? I have a name! The Shadow Divine Beast Dolon! That’s me!” the monster roared in fury. Xia Fei’s Blood Crystal had unexpectedly absorbed much of its essence blood, leaving it feeling very lethargic.
At that time, Dolon turned into patterns that had been spread throughout the pyramid to avoid detection. A body divided in such a manner was certain to have a weaker defense, causing it to suffer from Xia Fei’s attack. Now that it had gathered its full body, its strength increased by a great deal.
“Atlanteans?” Dolon sneered. “Just a clan down on its luck and running for its life! How could a lousy home like that be fit for a shadow Divine Beast like me!
“Yes, I endured until Poseidon got old, and then I killed him! Killed his family! I left no survivors!”
Dolon’s eyes grew savage, its giant body trembling in agitation.
“Since you already succeeded, why are you still here?” Xia Fei sternly asked. “Is there something you can’t let go?”
The crafty black eyes frantically looked around. Dolon was somewhat startled to find that Xia Fei had already seen through its dark desires.
Xia Fei continued. “I guess that you never wanted to attach yourself to the Atlanteans, but they might have had something forcing you to obey. You patiently waited until you had enough strength to eliminate this clan, and then you struck without hesitation.
“After doing things against your will for so many years, you must have been bursting with resentment. The reason you didn’t leave after killing the Atlanteans is that you want to utterly destroy that thing, which has always been suppressing you. Alas, you’re an exotic beast without any command of law force, so you can’t enter the golden basilica built by the Atlanteans.
“Thus, you thought of the Panhuman Alliance. Using your unique ability, you did your utmost to infiltrate it in order to find a Law Warrior possessing average cultivation so that person could help you open the golden basilica and you could get inside and destroy the thing you loathe so much.
“Unfortunately for you, the Alliance isn’t a place where Law Warriors gather. You were unable to find a suitable candidate until you ran into me. You thought that I could be easily controlled, which was why I basically didn’t encounter any opposition. That’s because you were trying to lure me into opening the golden basilica and helping you get your revenge!”
Dolon was stunned.
Phantom was also stunned.
Even Lionheart King Oro was stunned!
They did not know whether to admire Xia Fei’s ability to observe and conjecture or his ability to imagine. With just a single detail, Xia Fei had come up with an entire story!
“Hahahaha!”
Dolon let out a loud and arrogant laugh, fearless and brazen. It seemed to have no fear of Xia Fei. Even though Xia Fei was a Law Warrior of decent cultivation, he was still incapable of stopping it.
“You only guessed part of it. The golden basilica not only contains the things I hate but also the things I want.” With its eyes glinting, Dolon continued. “Everything inside should be mine! I was yielded to the Atlanteans for so many years, and that’s the price they ought to pay!”
Xia Fei pursed his lips. The Beast Spirit Codex said that shadow-type exotic beasts had sinister natures and were not easy to tame; it seemed like the codex had not been lying.
Since he had just confirmed that all this was all because of Divine Beast Dolon, killing it would resolve everything.
Alas, without Furball at his side, he had lost a significant source of strength. Things would get problematic in an actual fight.
Though they were both Divine Beasts, the Yu Family’s Green Dawn had been devoutly loyal whether his master was or evil, willing to sacrifice its life to save the clan.
However, on the other end, the shadow-type Divine Beast Dolon had been scheming against its clan from the start, wiping out the clan it should have been protecting as soon as it had the chance. The two of them were as different as heaven and earth. Thus, it was not true that exotic beasts were loyal—at least not for all exotic beasts.
“I will give you one chance. Inject your law force to open the third pyramid and I will spare you your life,” Dolon said.
Xia Fei shook his head. “I will be opening the golden basilica, but that will be done after you’re dead.”
He rubbed the Blood Crystal against Edgeless. Apparently, Xia Fei was not very afraid of Dolon.
Shadow Divine Beasts were bizarre and wicked, their fighting power shocking, so Xia Fei seemed just a little too confident.
Dolon laughed. “Kill me? Just you alone? Don’t think that you’re so impressive just because you’ve been to the Law Realm before. Both I and the Atlantis Clan that I destroyed came from the Law Realm. You’re just a Law Sovereign, and you think that you could fight me? I, Dolon, am a mighty Divine Beast!”
Xia Fei said nothing. Meanwhile, Dolon’s body was getting larger and larger as more and more of the patterns converged, turning it into a giant black mountain.
“Are you afraid now? If you help me open the golden pyramid and let me take what’s mine, I’ll let you go.”
Xia Fei shook his head. “No matter what’s inside, it’s all mine. What’s mine is mine, and what I see is mine, too. Even only something I’ve heard about and never even seen before is also mine.”
Xia Fei’s words were extremely unreasonable, so much so that Dolon rolled all of its several thousand eyes, appearing utterly enraged. Was there anyone in the universe as greedy as Xia Fei? Anything he heard about was his? What sort of reasoning was that?
“Right, I forgot to tell you something.” Xia Fei had a naughty smile on his lips. “The Atlanteans must have used the Beast Spirit Codex to suppress you, right?”
Dolon was startled, and an irrepressible fear welled up in its heart. For so many years, it had suffered under the Atlanteans’ Beast Spirit Codex. Xia Fei suddenly bringing it up caused Dolon’s heart to shudder.
“How… How did you learn about it?!” Dolon asked in alarm.
“Learn it? I even know how to use it!”
As he spoke, Peacock Blue shot out from Xia Fei’s right arm!
…
Not even in his dreams would Xia Fei imagine that two people were currently floating just outside the Dark Crow Pupa Cavity.
They were enclosed within the Space law, allowing them to stand in the river of stars while being unaffected by the external environment.
The one leading was a fat old man with many wrinkles on his face, but his hair was black and glossy, a sign that the man usually lived like a prince. A combat suit tightly covered his body, making him appear like a round ball, and he had a toothpick in his mouth.
The other person was almost naked, his face seemingly chiseled from stone. His body was covered in scars, scars connected scars, scars upon scars, gruesome to behold!
“A Dark Crow Pupa Cavity? Interesting, interesting. There might be something fun inside. Let’s go inside and take a look,” the fat elder said.
The young man beside him frowned. “Master, our objective is to look for Xia Fei and his girlfriend. Since you sensed that someone had used law force here, it’s probably him. Why don’t we inform the others?”
The elder punched the young man on the back. “Gud, my foolish disciple, look at how far away we are from the Law Realm. How could Xia Fei possess such a long-distance compass?
“Besides, this mission has a reward. If we inform the other teams, we’ll have to split the reward with them. If it’s really Xia Fei, that’s even better. We can seize him and get all of the reward. Your master is a Great Law Emperor. Should I fear a puny Law Sovereign? What a joke!”
The young man called Gud saw that his master had no intention of informing the others and he sighed in relief. The two of them then entered the Dark Crow Pupa Cavity.
