Chapter 626: Intermediate Energy Master
With the additional base for the White Jade Ape, it was like a warship that had been retrofitted with a superior engine. The performance improvement was nothing to be scoffed at.
The thin, thread-like energy swam in his seventh brain region, condensing into the profound pattern of the Law of Energy Purification.
When this thread of energy passed through his body, it was as if an icy cold needle had pierced his skin. This sensation was not one of pain but rather an indescribable comfort, which was like a playful insect slowly crawling on him.
Xia Fei already had this natural gift of being able to control Origin Energy easily, so now that he had this completed White Jade Ape as well, he was even more powerful than before!
As long as he lived, his cultivation would never end.
Xia Fei knew very well that what was known as law power was fundamentally just energy after removing technical factors. This was the truth that no one could deny, and be it cultivation or combat, even eating a meal required the necessary energy. Furball and Xia Fei’s rapid improvement both required plenty of energy. A massive amount of Origin Energy he needed for everything, which was why becoming an Energy Master was his only option that could even be considered to be a matter of urgency.
Since Xia Fei had the White Jade Ape in hand, and he had quite the potential in this avenue, there was no reason for him not to make progress with the path of energy mastery. This time, though he had very fortunately managed to sell off the darkness metal weapon, Waning Moon’s Toll, at a very high price, it had only been possible because of the favor he garnered. Had he not saved Heinrich’s life back then, Planet Master Heathfield would most definitely not have bought it for a million grade 4 Origin Crystals. In truth, the price of the darkness metal weapon was just about 300,000 crystals at most.
Xia Fei could not possibly have lady luck with him at all times, and becoming an Energy Master meant he would no longer be under anyone’s thumb. Once he could create his own Origin Crystals, not only could he make what he needed for himself, he could even produce and make a profit from them! This was what Xia Fei valued the most, for the true foundation of being a warrior lay in the ability to fend for themselves.
Xia Fei had no wish to rely on selling weapons so that he could acquire crystals; once was enough. A magical material like darkness metal, selling it was inadvisable, let alone giving it away. Of course, at least he got a very good price selling it.
*Rumble*
When the Law of Energy Purification’s pattern formed, a nearly imperceptible wave of light filled his brain region.
He had succeeded in achieving the third level of the Law of Energy Purification!
“Seven days! You only took seven days to raise your Law of Energy Purification to level 3! That’s astounding!”
The one who had made this exclamation was actually Lionheart Emperor Oro. However, this great demonlord soon realized his own slip of impropriety and once more resumed the image of an unfathomable being.
“Ahem. Actually, it’s nothing too impressive. It’s due to your sensitivity toward energy, as well as that strange ape that helped you. Anyone else might perhaps even reach level 3 in six or even five days.” Oro hurriedly corrected himself.
Phantom felt somewhat irate. “This old demonlord got all excited with what you had accomplished, only to call you average in his next breath. I think he just felt uncomfortable if he didn’t discredit you.”
Xia Fei smiled faintly, not saying a word.
Deep down, he knew very well how fast or slow he was going. During these seven days, he had not wasted even a second of his time resting, not to mention all the dangerously critical moments he had managed to overcome.
The Law of Energy Purification was unlike the major laws split into many tiers and levels. There were only nine levels to it, and it was a minor law in the Law Realm, but when cultivating the law, Xia Fei had encountered a problem, which he had not experienced before, and that was losing control of energy.
With the aid of the White Jade Ape, Xia Fei had very successfully gotten through the first and second levels, but the third level was when the energy fluctuation changed and became hard to control. Xia Fei only managed to get a grasp of everything through the accumulated experience after his countless failures.
It took him two days to reach level 2, while level 3 took five days! That was almost three times the time he took prior!
“Reaching level 3 makes one an intermediate Energy Master. In the Demon Race, you’ll never have to worry about basic living for the rest of your life if you get a license with your current standards and will be treated like an honorable guest of any clan. It’s probably the same anywhere in the God Race,” Lionheart Emperor Oro said.
Energy Master Duba of the Yu family was also at the third level. He was a substantial mover and shaker in the clan, and even the deceased patriarch, Yu Jiang, could only treat him very respectfully. When he thought up here, Xia Fei could not help but agree with Oro’s assessment. He would most likely have surpassed Duba, too, by the time he made his return.
This was when the sound of knocking came from outside. “Esteemed guest, the planet master has requested your presence.”
“Right, I’ll make my way there,” Xia Fei called from inside the room.
Oro chuckled. “I believe that my great grandson prepared the items that you asked for. I’m not one to brag, but the Lionhearts are a notable clan in the Demon Race, and there’s probably no way for you to get what you need without asking Heathfield for help.”
Xia Fei did not deny this. Since this old demonlord had been trapped in ice for so long, he figured that it would not hurt for him to be proud over this
…
Xia Fei was in a fairly good mood after having rested for a week. The injuries he had suffered all over his body were slowly healing and he had made progress with his Law of Purification by reaching the third level, too. In addition, Heathfield had managed to procure those items he requested, so whatever he had been feeling after being made into a scapegoat by Yu Hua slowly dissipated.
This boiled down to Xia Fei’s optimistic outlook in life, but that did not mean he would just let his enemy off easily. Nobody had ever tricked him like what Yu Hua had done, causing twice the hurt to him as a result. Going by Xia Fei’s principle in life, since Yu Hua had inflicted twice the pain on him, he would at least be seeking to return the favor four fold!
The only one whom he was still worried about was Avril, but Xia Fei believed that his mech companions were trustworthy; in addition, seeing the undying loyalty Pod kept demonstrating made him understand that robots were vastly more dependable than humans.
While he had been deep in his thoughts, Xia Fei arrived at Heathfield’s study. The servants led him in, only to find Heathfield fiddling with a spatial ring in his hand.
“You’re here.” Heathfield beckoned Xia Fei over to take a seat with his large hands.
“I, more or less, finished preparing everything that you asked as long as it was within my means. Here. Come take a look at the level 5 and level 5 patterns of the Law of Energy Purification.”
With that said, Heathfield handed over two black metal plates to Xia Fei. The Law of Energy Purification was very specialized, and the pattern for every level was different. That was why he first needed to obtain an existing pattern in order to continue cultivating.
Xia Fei instantly took the two rune plates and weighed them in his hand. Aside from the pattern, the plates themselves also had mental imprints, which would allow any learner to better familiarize themselves with the complex design. Such plates wasted plenty of time and energy to produce, and most warriors would at most acquire the pattern and probe it by themselves, while rune plates would greatly improve the speed of learning and the comprehension of these patterns.
“Why are there only two? What about level 6 and above?” Phantom was puzzled.
Xia Fei also thought that it was a little too few, but these expensive plates were what Heathfield had gifted him, so he found it awkward to ask for more.
“I’m really sorry, but I don’t have the ability to acquire the patterns for level 6 and higher. After all, there’s a strict hierarchy in the Law Realm and only the two supreme races have those of level 6 and above. Though we do have elders in the Demon Race, they won’t easily hand them over to me. The Law of Energy Purification is the foundation of the Law Realm and the lifeblood of warriors, so it is strictly monitored at every level.”
Xia Fei nodded. “Please don’t be mistaken, planet master. Everyone knows that only the two peak races can use level 6 Origin Crystals, so I’m already satisfied in being able to obtain these two rune plates as it is.”
“Oh, that’s good. Oh, yeah. I still have three inscriptions here that detailed techniques on how to use these Law of Energy Purification rune plates.” With that said, Heathfield passed Xia Fei three more metal plates. The three of them had a series of images which were etched in gold. By reaching one’s consciousness in them, they would provide the key points and explanation for the techniques.
“Without the necessary technique, you won’t be considered a true Energy Master through just Law power alone. That is why I made an effort to gather three techniques to create Origin Crystals for you. I don’t dabble in this field, so I don’t have the expertise of an Energy Master, nor have I any idea if any of the three techniques will be of any use to you. You’ll have to take them and choose on your own.”
Xia Fei was greatly moved by this gesture, thanking the planet master profusely. He had managed to get three whole techniques just like that! Heathfield truly lived up to his name as the direct descendant of Lionheart royalty! Furthermore, they had been recorded using the mental imprinting method, making it that much easier for him to learn them, which was no different from having a high-level Energy Master providing personal guidance beside him.
“I won’t lie to you; my uncle is a great Energy Master and I wasted quite a bit of effort trying to get these things for you. After all, these are precious treasures from our clan, containing the unique comprehension that we the Lionhearts have. There’s no reason for us to give this to any outsider, and it’s only after he heard about how you had saved the life of Heinrich and your relationship with the elder from the Lionheart royalty that he was convinced, albeit reluctant, into handing these over.
“These are things that no amount of money can buy, so I hope you will do your utmost to help protect them for us, the Lionheart Royalty. Don’t ever let them end up in the hands of others,” Heathfield solemnly requested.
Xia Fei swore solemnly to that effect. Actually, there was no need for Heathfield to be so nervous, since the big demonlord of the Lionheart clan was sitting in his spatial ring. Even if he wanted to give these things away, the old demon Oro would never agree to it.
“Little brother, I’d just like to ask if it’s true that, aside from being a warrior, you’re also cultivating the Law of Energy Purification?” Heathfield asked.
“That’s right.”
“What level have you cultivated to?”
“The third,” Xia Fei simply answered.
Heathfield was instantly stunned. No one who cultivated combat laws also pursued the route of an Energy Master. First, it was better to focus and specialize on one thing since it was no good to be half-hearted with one’s effort; second, the talent required to become an Energy Master was very high, so if anyone had the potential to become an Energy Master, why would they choose to take a detour and be a warrior, instead?
Furthermore, Xia Fei was actually accomplishing everything simultaneously!
After a long pause, Heathfield said, “Given how you have come all the way to Demon territory, brother, something must’ve happened on the other side. If you don’t mind, we of the Lionheart clan are willing to take you in. While our clan isn’t the strongest among the Demons, it is ranked among the best. You’re an outsider, and we can’t give you any status, but you’ll be treated how you should be treated, all in accordance to the levels of any elite.”
“I want you to consider this earnestly after you head back; you can come find me any time you arrive at a decision.”
Xia Fei verbally said that he would consider the offer when actually his mind had already flown back to the Alliance. He wished he could just grab these things and go right now and check on Avril’s situation.
Finally, Heathfield handed Xia Fei a spatial ring. “Everything you want is inside, and only the Angry Flame Lotus and Green Python-bat are beyond my capabilities of acquiring.
Such an outcome was within Xia Fei’s estimation. After all, the two things were extremely precious—things that could only be chanced upon but never sought. Healthfield had already done quite a lot, so Xia Fei of course had nothing to complain about. He, therefore, offered this Lionheart his heartfelt gratitude.
With no time to lose, Xia Fei immediately made a move to head to the Hidden Realm, where the forces of mechs and robots resided, to reunite with Avril.
