Chapter 1680: Section 1681: Live the Way You Want to

Of course, Angel didn't think that the House of Heart alone could help Toby overcome his extreme resentment.

However, the first priority now is to enable Toby to face his extreme resentment.

Only by facing the bleak ending can we have the motivation to change the tragedy.

In reality, once Toby faced the thought of extreme resentment, it was equivalent to the beginning of the tribulation of the five flavors, and no one knew whether he could survive the tribulation. But in the House of Heart, facing the thought of extreme resentment did not involve such risks.

This is also the uniqueness of the Heart House.

When Cell came back to his senses from silence, Angel and Frode had just finished discussing the issue of the inner demon's combat power.

According to Angel's calculations, the experiment was over, and he had learned everything he needed to know. However, Angel did not leave immediately. Instead, he looked at Cell, who was still a little dazed.

"You still haven't given a good reason."

Cell had previously requested that he be able to enter the Heart House for another trial in the future. Angel had said that if Cell could provide a good reason, he wouldn't mind making an exception.

But so far, Cell has not given a reason that convinces Angel.

Cell lowered his head, his voice becoming slightly deeper. "What I was talking about before was what happened behind the third door. In fact, the first and second doors are more important to me than the third door."

Angel didn't interrupt Cell and motioned for him to continue.

"Next I will tell you a short story. It may not be interesting, but this is my experience, and it is also related to the first two doors." Cell paused, then began to tell the story.

As a child, Shalu lived in a small town called Kudoo. He had never seen his father and lived with his mother and older brother, Lisa. His life in Kudoo was the happiest time of his life.

Cell's eyes lit up when he spoke of life in Kudor Town. Their mother was kind to them, letting them pursue their dreams freely. Lisa, the older brother, dreamed of becoming an auditor; Cell wanted to be a knight of justice.

Since Cell reflected on himself, he has been working hard for this dream.

Lisa and Cell had a wonderful childhood until their mother died unexpectedly, and their sky instantly changed from bright sunshine to bleak clouds.

Then, they were taken in by their uncle who came from afar to live in Saint Syme City.

At first, things were fine. Although my aunt was often sarcastic, my uncle was more protective of them. But soon, my uncle offended someone and was laid off from his job. In order to support his family, he ended up working as a janitor.

From then on, my uncle spent his days drinking and wandering around, and no longer cared about them. My aunt and her son began to torture them for six years.

Cell didn't go into detail about those six years, but his eyes were filled with anger, despair, and even a hint of fear. It's clear that those six years of torture weren't just ordinary sarcasm; they probably involved beatings, scolding, and even humiliation.

My uncle actually knew about their abuse a long time ago, but he pretended not to know.

During those six years, Cell and Lisa grew up from innocent children who pursued their dreams, understood the ways of the world, and saw through the cruelty of reality.

At the age of seventeen, Lisa left her uncle's house with Cell and started her life in a dilapidated wooden house in the forest. In order to support herself and Cell, Lisa gave up her studies and her dream of becoming an auditor, and made a living by herding sheep on a manor.

After escaping from their uncle's house which was like a nightmare, although they gave up their dreams, they thought they could get a new life.

Sadly, this period only lasted three years.

A flash flood after a heavy rain destroyed the wooden house they lived in and buried their future. When they opened their eyes again, they had been taken to the City of Beginning Heart by Frode.

At this point, Cell finally got to the point.

"The first door is a wooden door. It's the door to my childhood home. There are two patterns painted on it: a pony and a book. My brother and I drew these patterns with twigs when we were little. Our mother even spanked us for it. But we were still very happy because the two patterns represented our dreams: the horse was a knight, and the book was an auditor."

When Cell spoke of the past, a light seemed to flicker in his eyes. However, when he spoke of the second door, hatred and anger filled his eyes.

"The second door is the door to my uncle's house. It was the place where my brother and I had six years of nightmares."

With just one sentence, Cell seemed to have exhausted all his strength.

After a long while, he finally recovered and said, "The reason I want to go for the trial again is because I want to open the first door and see."

After Cell finished speaking, he looked at Angel with anticipation.

Angel had no expression on his face and said in a cold tone, "And then?"

Obviously, Cell's previous statement may have moved him, but it did not move Angel.

The reasons he gave were still insufficient in Ingres's opinion.

Cell was silent for a moment, his eyes filled with hesitation.

Angel: "If that's all, I can't make an exception for you."

After hearing what Angel said, Cell finally made up his mind. He slowly half-knelt down, and as Angel raised his eyebrows, he lowered his head, stretched out his hands, crossed them and placed them flat on his chest.

Cell said nothing, but his actions spoke volumes.

This is a knight's gift, meaning to hand over everything I have: my life, my future, and my glory.

Angel: "Get up, you are not a knight."

Cell raised his head and said in a firm tone: "I will become a knight."

Angel looked at Cell quietly: "I don't need a knight."

Cell's eyes remained firm, seemingly unaffected by Angel's words.

After a long pause, Angel continued, "Although I don't need knights, Chuxin City shouldn't mind having too many knights."

A hint of joy flashed in Cell's eyes.

"Of course, the prerequisite is that you are qualified to become a knight. At least, you are not qualified now. You should return to the library and reflect on yourself."

Immediately afterwards, without waiting for Cell to respond, Angel asked Frod to cover Cell's eyes and ordered someone to take him back to the library.

After Cell left, Frod looked at Angel and said, "Sir, I am willing to give Cell a chance."

Angel seemed resolute, but he didn't actually kill off Cell's hope. Just because he wasn't qualified now didn't mean he wouldn't be qualified in the future.

"I didn't give you the opportunity." Angel said softly.

When Cell performed the knight's salute, Angel couldn't actually judge what Cell was thinking at the time, but at least at that moment, his eyes were firm and unwavering.

This look touched Ingres for a moment.

However, people's minds change. Everyone has moments when they're determined to do something, but that determination rarely lasts long, either due to external circumstances or a lack of perseverance. So, just because Cell is determined at this moment doesn't guarantee he'll be determined in the future.

Because of this, Angel didn't give a positive answer. But his words didn't extinguish Cell's hope either.

But now that hope has been given, whether or not one can seize the opportunity is up to Cell.

"After listening to Cell's story, I understand him a little better. It was the environment that shaped his eccentric personality." Frode sighed, "Sometimes people don't want to grow up to be what they hate, but they are born at the wrong time."

Angell: "Lissa went through the same situation, but she didn't exile herself."

Happy people are all alike, but unfortunate people are each unfortunate in their own way. There are those in this world who are even more unfortunate than Cell, such as Kuina, the gifted soul Angel brought back from Hailan. With all four limbs chopped off and her lips sewn shut, she could practically be called a human stick.

Despite this, Kuina did not give up on herself because of her misfortune. She did many vicious things, but the determination in her eyes was something that Angel had never seen before.

For Angel, if Cell can truly carry out his beliefs to the end, then giving him a chance is fine. But if he is just talking about it, then it doesn't matter either.

Life is something you control yourself.

Wanting to live the way you want is not a final destination, but a process of reaching the other side.

Since it is just a process, we will not give up just because of changes in the environment or the passage of time.
