Chapter 905 - 905: Getting Away
“Attack them. Make sure none of them can surround us! Hold on!” Nathan was commanding out loud.
The elite class alien became more and more frustrated because Nathan kept getting away with no gap shrinking.
Meanwhile, Selena stretched out the chains toward Alavenya and Noelle.
“!!!” Alavenya and Noelle instantly understood what they had to do. They grabbed the chains at the same time.
After that, Selena pulled back the chains. The rest of the familiars remained on the ground for a bit longer, striking down any aliens that were about to reach them before getting recalled.
Once they passed this group of aliens that were supposed to stop them, Peng sped up.
It was the centipede’s turn to be surprised. He wouldn’t allow his prey to escape, especially after losing this much.
But this victory didn’t come without a price.
“What are you two doing?” Anubis was startled when he checked their bodies.
Alavenya’s hands were completely broken. Her bones cracked all over. It was surprising that she didn’t even let out any screams the entire time. Six of her fingers had been dislocated as well. In addition, her legs were about to give out. Even taking a step forward should be painful.
On the other hand, Noelle was covered in blood. Although most of them were superficial, she still lost a lot of blood. It was surprising enough that she could move that vigorously. At the same time, it was the reason Noelle couldn’t cut the alien on her last strike. She was fortunate enough that Fenrir and Murmur were there to deliver the killing blow.
Anubis hurriedly healed them as Peng gradually widened their distance.
The aliens tried their best to catch up to them even if the centipede couldn’t catch up. As long as they could slow them down, it was enough.
Little did they know, it was Nathan’s trick. Without them realizing it, Mae had created an illusion where it looked like Peng was exerting so much ena from his body so that he could increase his speed.
As a result, he shouldn’t last long. The centipede understood this and continued to chase after them, waiting until Peng ran out of energy before killing them.
No. It was smart enough to command the rest of the flying aliens to play along. They acted as if they were chasing Nathan with their lives on the line, but they were just trying to look desperate so that Nathan would stop for a moment to replenish their energy.
“This doesn’t look good. If this continues, won’t we be in trouble after some time?” Selena frowned. Of course, the enemies weren’t the only ones who noticed the illusion.
To make this strategy effective, Nathan had no other choice but to fool even his own team.
The centipede should be able to see their reactions, including their troubled heart.
Nathan remained desperate as he shot down all kinds of attacks and aliens that dared to approach them.
Alavenya and Noelle also helped them from Peng’s back, albeit their strength was quite limited in this kind of battle.
In addition, there were more and more aliens gathering from the surrounding areas. They tried to block Nathan and the others.
Nathan and the others were able to take them down, but Peng got hurt from time to time, causing his speed to be reduced even more.
After a long chase that lasted for 30 minutes, they finally managed to outrun the elite class alien to the point where they couldn’t see them anymore on the horizon.
“Did we do it?” Selena frowned.
“I think we did it. We managed to escape. With this much distance, the first prince couldn’t use the elite class alien anymore to drag us into the conflicts.” Flora nodded, confirming their situation.
“Finally…” Sera dropped on her butt, exhausted.
Alavenya and Noelle remained silent as if recognizing the terrains.
“This…” Alavenya squinted her eyes.
Noelle nodded and moved to the front as if trying to see something on the horizon. After several seconds, Noelle shouted, “Everyone. I can see an abandoned base in front of us. Have we gotten this far while fleeing from the elite class alien?”
“!!!” The girls were surprised. They didn’t expect they covered this much distance. Then again, Peng had been flying at full force this whole time. They were quite exhausted because they kept fighting so many aliens that tried to stop them while fending off the elite class alien.
Nathan stated, “In that case, let’s take a small break on the base.”
“Yay!” Sera cheered.
But this action was actually a mistake. This time, the alien had the advantage. After knowing Peng had almost depleted his energy, the alien was the one adjusting its speed to lower their guard down.
That was why, five minutes after they settled down inside the base, the ground started shaking again as the sign of the centipede’s arrival.
“!!!” Everyone stood up and turned around, seeing the huge centipede approaching them.
It looked like Nathan summoned Peng one more time, but they couldn’t escape. After all, the centipede had been accumulating trees and boulders on his path and turned it into a giant ball.
The centipede threw it at them by using his telekinesis. If Nathan chose to abandon the girls and took off right away, he could survive. But that also meant the centipede managed to kill most of them, which was already not bad.
Seeing the incoming ball that was about to fall on top of them, they panicked. Only one person remained calm the whole time. It was none other than Mae.
Mae simply muttered, “Master. It’s working. Please recall me in 3… 2… 1…”
“Got it.” Nathan responded inside her mind by utilizing Peng’s telepathy.
Right before the ball fell, Mae disappeared, resulting in the illusion disappearing together alongside her. Of course, with such a distance, the elite class alien didn’t realize they disappeared before the ball landed.
It only saw the boulder decimate everything in that area.
Little did he know, Nathan was already at least one kilometer away from them, moving as quietly as possible.
“Do we really manage to lose him now?” Selena turned her head around.
“To think it has been chasing us this whole time.” Sera gasped. “If we really stayed there, we would have been destroyed. I wish you would have told us the plan beforehand.”
“The elite class alien is too smart for its own good.” Flora shivered when she heard a loud sound produced by the impact.
Alavenya nodded in agreement. “Fortunately, Nathan took its intelligence into consideration.”
Noelle raised one finger. “There is one problem though. Where are we going next? That base is supposed to be our first destination. Now that it’s destroyed, we don’t have any place that can be used as a landmark.”
All of them turned to Nathan, who was already smiling as if everything had gone according to plan.
“Actually, we have one more place.” Nathan took out a notebook. Its title said, “Archive of Alienology by Professor Massendora and Elizabeth the Great.”
