Chapter 801 - 801: Requirement
A high-pitched noise echoed across the land, alarming the soldiers on the wall.
“That’s…”
“What’s that?”
They pointed at the dot in the sky, reminding them of a boy who came to this fort not long ago.
However, this dot gradually became bigger and bigger, surpassing the dragon they had previously seen. More importantly, it wasn’t a dragon. It was a whale.
“What is that?”
“A fish?”
“A flying fish?!”
The soldiers were panicking. The size of the whale completely surpassed their imagination. If the whale crashed into their fort, it could destroy half of their fort.
“…” The vice commander, Layfon, smiled wryly. Even though it was different, there was only one person who could have done such a thing.
“Showing off his new familiar, huh? This guy really loves to show off.” Sullivan’s voice echoed from the side.
“Sir.” Layfon immediately regained his composure and bowed to him.
The people who could see a huge whale in the sky couldn’t help but drop their jaws. Nathan, Selena, and Flora jumped off the whale as the latter provided a small wind cushion for them before disappearing into thin air.
They landed directly on top of the wall, specifically not far from Layfon and Sullivan.
“Oh! That’s the savior!” The soldiers recognized Nathan, considering he was the one having the familiar that saved their lives. They couldn’t help but cheer upon his arrival.
Nathan smiled wryly. He walked to Sullivan together with Selena and Flora.
No one recognized Flora, thinking she was just someone Nathan brought. In the end, they had never seen her portrait, so without her royal carriage or any other identification, no one really knew her.
Sullivan knew that recognizing Flora here would give unnecessary pressure to the soldiers, so he simply nodded his head to Flora as a greeting to the princess.
Then, he turned to Nathan and said, “You have come. Aren’t you a bit too late?”
“I’m not late. You just didn’t specify the time I need to be here.” Nathan made a cheeky grin.
Sullivan’s eyebrows twitched. “Well, whatever. Welcome to my base. Anyway, let’s go to my office. It’s better to talk there.”
“Yes.” Nathan summoned Anubis.
“!!!” Sullivan noticed his intention and hurriedly asked, “Are you sure?”
“Yes. It’s fine.” Even though they were about to receive a hard mission for him, Nathan didn’t mind using a bit of ena to help the soldiers.
“I understand. Thank you.”
“No problem.” Nathan turned to Anubis. “Please.”
Anubis nodded and shouted, “You guys! Anyone who is hurt can come to me right now before I go to the medical district!”
“Ohhh!”
“It’s Anubis the Great!”
“I revere you!”
“Thank you so much.”
Nathan smiled wryly, looking at the soldiers’ attitude. They were like Anubis’ fans. Then again, Anubis was probably the only one who could achieve it.
Meanwhile, Nathan and the others headed to Sullivan’s office. It was there Sullivan and Layfon fell to one knee, greeting the princess.
“Please rise. I come here not as a princess, but as Flora.” Flora shook her head helplessly. “Besides, Duke Sullivan. I’m sure that the letter has been sent to you.”
“Yes. It’s unfortunate that the candidate with the most potential resigned from the battle for the throne, but it doesn’t seem you’re regretting your decision.”
“Yes. It feels refreshing. I’m happy now, but I will continue to strive for a better future… both for me and this kingdom.”
“I see.” Sullivan nodded before returning to his seat. “In that case, we shall talk about the mission.”
“Shouldn’t we call Serafina and the others?” Flora asked.
“I have asked Sylvia to call them.” Layfon nodded. “They should be arriving soon.”
As Layfon said, Sera and the others arrived one minute later. Now that the team had finally gathered together, it was time for them to discuss the mission.
“So, what do you want us to do?” Nathan asked.
Sullivan’s expression turned solemn. “The mission is simple. Northwest from here, there is a place containing at least 10 warrior class aliens. I want you to get rid of them. As for the method, I will leave it to you.”
Nathan and the others exchanged looks, as though they had expected this mission from the beginning.
“Is there anything else?” Nathan asked.
“No. That’s all the mission. If you succeed, I will tell you about her father’s location. Of course, Layfon will be there to accompany you. He won’t do anything other than observe, but if he deems you are not strong enough to challenge this place, he will intervene, and it means you have failed. I won’t restrict anything you plan to do.”
Nathan closed his eyes. As expected, the fact that Sullivan gave them the freedom to choose their method meant Sullivan wanted them to showcase their individual strength and team strength.
Still, after hearing the front line’s situation from Duchess Lena, Nathan noticed that there might be one more hidden task he had to clear. It was how they should maneuver in the alien territory.
This was the first time they entered the alien territory, and it was said that the alien territory looked very different.
Nathan asked, “Is there a time limit?”
Sullivan nodded. “The maximum time I can give you is five days. I can’t afford to have my vice commander leave for longer than five days.”
Nathan glanced at the girls. Alavenya and Noelle didn’t have any opinion, as usual. Flora and Selena were contemplating but couldn’t seem to find any other questions.
Sera tilted her head in confusion, asking, “Can I summon my fifth familiar first?”
“You may. Do whatever you want. You are free to rest today and head out tomorrow morning.”
Nathan noticed one more problem. “Do you have any information regarding the alien’s territory?”
Instead of Sullivan, Layfon was the one answering him. “Sylvia will guide you to a small archive we have. You may browse everything there.”
Sullivan sighed inwardly, thinking that Nathan had truly figured out the mission. The alien territory was very different from human territory, so without any information or knowledge, they would have a high chance of failing.
That was why he would be disappointed if no one asked for information. It seemed he didn’t have to worry about this team.
