Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 538 Coming Out

“Jinwu!”

“Yes?” Jinwu perched on Nathan’s shoulder.

The soldiers couldn’t help but look at this small, ordinary crow, confused.

“Scout the area. I need to know the number and the layout of the area. After that, check our surroundings and see if there is anything that can be used as a landmark to know our position.

“Also, try to find other holes. Anubis and Fenrir have confirmed that they are not far from us. Two on the right side and one on the left side. Confirm their arrival and have them on standby. Continue your journey on My Virtual Library Empire

“I will be giving my order after I get all the necessary information.”

Jinwu nodded. As long as he didn’t activate his Battle Form, the others would treat him like a normal crow. So, Jinwu was the perfect familiar to scout the area. He was intelligent enough to carry messages directly, allowing Nathan to organize everyone.

He then flew toward the exit, finding a bit of an abnormal situation.

First, everything looked as they expected. This place was surrounded by hills made by stacking up all the rocks and soils they got from drilling the hole.

However, Jinwu noticed that the number of aliens nearby was much lower than he originally thought.

Nevertheless, he had to continue. He flew up to get a good grasp of the surroundings, noticing a pair of hills south of their location. They looked much more natural than the surrounding hills, so it might not be the result of aliens.

After that, he dove and checked other openings, which were located not far away from them.

He entered the first hole and found Noelle was about to arrive before continuing to the second hole, where Sera was supposed to reach. Unfortunately, she hadn’t come yet, so they would probably have to wait for her.

Last but not least, Alavenya had also reached the end of the tunnel.

They were stationed a bit deeper so that the darkness would cover them, but there were still some scouting soldiers near the exit to look around.

After getting a grasp of the situation, he returned to Nathan’s side, reporting everything he had seen.

“A pair of hills? Isn’t that the twin hills of Loere?” The captain raised his eyebrows.

“Do you know them? How far are we from the nearest base?” Nathan asked.

“It’s not that far. There should be a base behind that hill since they’re taking advantage of the terrain to create that base.”

“In that case, it will be around an hour to reach there. Although it’s near, I look at it from the sky, so the distance feels shorter.”

“I see.” Nathan thought for a moment. “We’ll be waiting for Sera. And since there is a base over thereā€¦”

“Should we run straight to that base?” The captain asked.

“No. There is something I’m concerned about. First of all, the number of aliens is lower than I originally expected. In addition, have you felt it? The aliens have stopped sending more aliens to dig the tunnel, which means they have realized we have secured the tunnel.

“There is a chance that they’re going to ambush us, so I can’t give out an order recklessly.”

“I see.” The captain crossed his arms. “That’s troublesome. They might be hiding somewhere else.”

“No cloud of dust. Do you want me to fly around the area to find their location? If there’s no alien hiding nearby, we should assume there aren’t many aliens to begin with. Or more like, we’ve killed a lot of aliens on our way here since there are four tunnels,” explained Jinwu.

Nathan squinted his eyes. “That’s what I want to believe, but we can’t rule out that possibility. It seems we have to create a small resistance first to check our surroundings before making our way to the base.”

“Resistance?” The captain raised his eyebrows.

“Yeah. The summoners will be killing the aliens in the area. Once we’re done, I will give you a signal in the form of Fenrir’s howl. After that, all four groups will emerge from the tunnel and create a formation that looks like a square. I don’t know what the formation name is, but you should know it.

“The aliens might not be many, but they’re not small enough for us to kill them without them being able to inform other aliens around this area.

“Hence, all of you will immediately form that formation and get ready to fight the rest of the aliens. The summoners will kill as many aliens as possible.

“If there is indeed an ambush nearby, we will go to the base and get reinforcement, even if it’s risky. Do you think it’s possible?”

The captain nodded. “That’s possible. We need to know where we are stationed first.”

Nathan turned to Jinwu. “Do we have enough space to spread our people?”

“Yes. It might be a hill, but the surrounding area has been flattened to make space. They’re expecting one or two more hills, probably.”

“You heard him.” Nathan started drawing a small sketch of the battlefield. “You will take the north. Alavenya’s and Noelle’s sides will be our left and right sides respectively, while Sera’s group will be on our back.

“The summoners will kill as many of them as possible, and once we find an opportunity, we’ll go to the base and get reinforcement before heading to the minister’s army. Tell all of them about this, Jinwu.

“We can’t make too much noise, which will alarm the enemy, but all soldiers have to understand their position and role.

“The start of this mission will be me coming out of this tunnel. Everyone will follow and execute the plan.”

“Got it. If Sera hasn’t reached the exit after I finish explaining it to the other two, I will look around to see if there are any aliens hiding.”

“Sure.” Nathan nodded before turning to the captain, asking him to explain it to the soldiers, a few at a time. He had to personally handle it so that the instruction was clear and correct.

Nathan, on the other hand, maintained a close look at the surroundings with Fenrir’s hearing, feeling something off from the current situation.
