Chapter 1775: Portal
Chapter 1775: Portal
Nathan finally split the group into three. As Crotto instructed, Nathan and Evelyn had their own groups. Of course, Luna led the third group.
In the end, Nathan decided to go with Sera, Flora, and Iris.
Since Luna went with Crotto, there was a need for extra protection. Hence, Nathan asked Selena to be the leader of that group and asked Noelle and Alavenya to be there.
Last but not least, Evelyn would go with Vivian and Bella.
Nathan said, "We will go around and kill any aliens we come across. The ena from them is necessary, but make sure to prioritize the alpha class aliens. If you encounter a place that has any indication that a portal is there, search for the portal a bit, but if you can’t, just mark it.
"The time limit for this expedition is 2 weeks for now. We haven’t explored much of the area, so we don’t know.
"And this is the most important thing. Kill all the aliens. Don’t forget that if we don’t kill them after disturbing them, they can run to human territory, bringing all the aliens in their path. It will create a massive alien army that will hit human territory hard. Understood?"
They nodded solemnly. They didn’t plan to underestimate the aliens.
"Good. Let’s meet again in 14 days."
All of them nodded. Of course, the shadow guards were left behind. Their task wasn’t just to investigate the Asura Palace, but also to protect Gregory.
In the worst-case scenario, they were to use the teleportation portal to bring Gregory back to the mansion.
Gregory was the most important person in Nathan’s plan after all.
Meanwhile, Nathan and the girls started hunting the aliens mercilessly. If they found a group of aliens, they would slaughter them quickly. At this level, not a single entity could be a threat to Nathan. The girls were the same if they worked together.
After all, there was unlikely to be another apex class alien in this world, especially when Yog-Sothoth sent out apex class aliens directly with his portal.
Alpha class aliens were challenging, but unless they possessed a domain like the alien that occupied Asura’s body, the battle would end pretty quickly.
After searching for three days, Crotto finally found a trace of the first portal.
"So, this is the portal." Luna squinted her eyes, looking at the black whirlpool leading to the void.
The size of the portal wasn’t too big. At most, it was like a three-story building.
However, they could feel the tremendous energy coming from this portal. Just staying here alone caused the powerful energy to suppress them.
Noelle suddenly rushed forward and cut down an alien that came out of the portal.
"Not many aliens are entering." Alavenya narrowed her eyes.
"That’s true," Noelle agreed. "But that makes our job easier, so I’m not complaining."
"Of course, there won’t be many. There are several portals on this continent. The only time a large number of aliens come out of the portal is during that day five hundred years ago. Unless there is a direct order, you won’t see a lot of aliens coming at the same time." Crotto explained the situation.
"That’s true. Even at this rate, the humans are still having a hard time stopping the aliens. I guess the only time it can compare to that day five hundred years ago is when Myrall was destroyed." Selena nodded in agreement.
"That is probably the second one." Crotto paused for a moment. "In any case, please protect me. I shall send my consciousness inside the portal to see what’s inside."
"Got it." Selena waved her hand. "Noelle, Alavenya. You take the front. Luna, you form a barrier around him. I’ll monitor everything in the middle."
They immediately positioned themselves accordingly, as Crotto remained still for thirty minutes.
Noelle and Alavenya kept taking down one alien after another. They seemed to appear once every two to three minutes.
There were some strong aliens, but the strongest was only in the warrior class, so Noelle and Alavenya killed them easily.
After waiting for a long time, Crotto said, "You shouldn’t go to this portal."
"!!!" Everyone was quite surprised. They had been waiting for thirty minutes, but Crotto came back with bad news.
"Why is that?"
"When I entered this place, I realized that the time in this world flowed faster than this world. I was only inside for five minutes, but I felt like more time had passed here."
"About thirty minutes, yes." Selena nodded.
Crotto explained, "There are also three more problems. The first is the fact that this planet is not habitable. The atmosphere is toxic, and I encounter acid rain. The acid will be strong enough to harm mortal bodies. It might not be effective against the divine bodies, but there are other problems.
"The second problem is the size of that planet. It seems to be 8 times larger than this planet, so searching for the next portal will be quite challenging.
"The last problem is that this planet doesn’t have a sun."
"Doesn’t have a sun?" Luna raised her eyebrows. "Really?"
"There is a sun, but the distance is quite far to the point where it doesn’t really matter. The water hasn’t been frozen, probably because of the acid’s characteristics. Still, it’s quite cold over there and without the sun, it’ll be quite hard to determine the time."
Selena looked at Luna.
Luna nodded. "If it’s not suitable, then we will search for another portal. For now, we should note it down first. Do you have a way to close the portal?"
Crotto explained, "There are two ways to destroy the portal. Have a power equal to Yog-Sothoth or defeat Yog-Sothoth himself. If you can’t do it, the portal will continue to regenerate, using the energy from another world."
"Well..." Selena had written everything in her notebook and put it back into her space ring. She said, "In that case, we should search for another portal. Nathan said that acid can be ignored to a certain extent and his ability can ignore the time difference, so size matters. The smaller the planet, the better."
